So today spring break was over and I had to go back to class (boo!) But legal writing was cancelled (yay!) Tomorrow I meet with the associate dean to talk about what classes I should take next fall. Administrative law? Business entities? Intellectual property?

Just got out of the shower...
Fighting another stupid sinus infection-positive thing with this is once the infection hits my inner ear stop itching...
Rodents are swarming me...
Have to modify the new, larger cage I bought last night-Daisy (the youngest) was able to squeeze out of it last night, right after I told David she couldn't fit through it...
Reschedualed my claw appt for tomorrow so now I can go back to bed...
**** <--Sniff says "Hi"
Princess Peach just knocked a small plastic bowl off the desk, The Boy looked up, shook his head and said, "Rodents these days." The way he said it cracked me up, just like an old person would say, "kids these days."

Right now my boss is out of the office, so I'm alternating between posting on LoT and staring out the window at the rain.

So, right this very second they are having a funeral for a harbor patrol office over in the basketball pavillion place on campus where I work. And it's all very sad -- died on duty, left a wife and small child, yadda yadda. But here's the thing -- apparently when he died he was helping to secure a tugboat that was trying to escape. And he took off his personal floatation device because it was bulky and in the way. Which means that when he slipped and fell into the canal, hitting his head, he had nothing to keep him afloat until he could be rescued. And he, of all people, should have known better.

And so they're broadcasting his funeral on all the local teevee stations, blocking roads for hours, etc... And does it ever get mentioned that THIS is why you wear your life jacket AT ALL TIMES around the water, no matter how safe and experienced you think you are? No. Just "fallen hero" rhetoric.

I'm sure there's a special corner of hell being prepared for me even as I type this. I do feel sorry for his wife, though. If I was in her shoes, I'd be torn between missing him more than I could express, and hating his guts for leaving me a widow through a stupid, fatal lapse in judgement.

It's raining in LA? Not a drop in Orange yet.

Well, I can't speak for LA, but it's raining in Thousand Oaks. (I cherish those few miles between here and the LA County line, I tell ya! ;) )

Hehe, I hear ya. Sorry about that. ;)

Sooo....I'm enjoying posting and reading before I go on desk at 2pm. Ah, the luxuries of this suburban life, with its connectivity.

Home, back from the dentist with admonisions to refrain from eating and drinking for a half hour while that vile floride solution and other dental cleaning chemicals swill about my mouth making me want to vomit. I feel sorry for dental professional, the folks no one wants to see...

Otherwise, trying to catch up, viewing all the cool pics, trying to grasp the notion of my college 20-year reunion, trading emails with an old flame from those days, trying to capture the last 20 years in a paragraph or two because I really don't want to spend a week in Ohio.

wendybeth 03-22-2005 10:08 PM

Hah! If I have to go to Ohio for a week, so should you!

(Everyone keeps asking 'why'? and then trying to put a positive spin on the trip, like pointing out the flourishing Amish community and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, etc. It's not helping).
