So ... how does one find out in advance what fire regulations might be in effect next weekend?

Also, remember that there is a $20 entrance fee (for a 7 day pass) to get into Sequoia/Kings Canyon NPs.

Quote:

7-day pass for Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and the Hume Lake District of Sequoia National Forest (Giant Sequoia National Monument): $20 per vehicle or $10 per person on foot, bicycle, motorcycle, or bus.

Annual pass for Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and the Hume Lake District of Sequoia National Forest (Giant Sequoia National Monument): $30 admits all passengers in a private vehicle for one year from month of purchase.
If you plan on visiting several National Parks or Recreation areas throughout the year, you may want to invest in an Annual Pass:

Annual Pass - America the Beautiful- National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands - Cost $80 This pass is available to the general public and provides access to, and use of all Federal recreation sites that charge an Entrance or Standard Amenity Fee for a year, beginning from the date of sale. The pass admits the pass holder/s and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and pass holder + 3 adults, not to exceed 4 adults, at per person fee areas. (children under 16 are admitted free) The pass can be obtained in person at the park, by calling 1-888-ASK USGS, Ext. 1, or via the Internet at http://store.usgs.gov/pass

I'm trying to find if there is any info on the web site. I haven't seen anything yet, but things may change quickly because of the Tahoe fire.

Is there a way to get the pass in advance (online?)?

Check the FAQ link in my above post.

I'm thinking about getting the AP for $80. I've been wanting to take more little weekend day trips with my honey, and that would save us a bundle over the next year.

I didn't see anything about buying the $20 pass in the FAQ's (even after re-reading just now). Am I missing something?

I am not looking to buy the ANNUAL pass, just the 7-day one in advance.

Hmmm, my NP AP was $50 when I purchased it in January at Joshua Tree.

Between that trip, my Grand Canyon adventure, this coming weekend, and a return to Joshua Tree sometime next fall that I hope to talk many people into attending ... my national park admission fee will be $12.50 per.

Not quite Disneyland, but it ain't too bad. ;)

I don't think so - or at least there is nothing about it on the web site.
