Limited Time Magic

I can't find the original posts on this so here's a new thread.

Remember this? According to MP, it starts on Friday. The Disney Parks blog will announce each week's Limited Time Magic. They got my attention for now so I subscribed.

Logically I know I'm not going to any of the parks anytime soon so what promotions they run this year don't matter to me personally, but emotionally this "limited time magic" concept just sticks in my craw. Oh sorry, you only get the magic if you come at the precise time we pick.

Irrational? I suppose so.

I don't mean this to be rude, it's just true - this promotion isn't for day passes, it's for APers, to try get them in the parks more often.

So, the Golden Horseshoe Revue is coming back Jan 10-Feb 4th. Sounds great to me, I never saw the original.

I thought AP holders were sucking resources and not spending enough ca$h and also preventing the daily$vi$itor from acce$$ing thing$ that will bring in revenue to the park which is why they raised the AP prices so much.

And now they are doing things like this and early entry to get more AP holders in to the park?

It won't be the Golden Horseshoe Revue unless they use a zombie Wally Boag- it'll be like seeing a c-list cast of the old show.

If you've got a time machine I'm game to go back.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

"A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue

For a limited time only, you and your family can experience this musical variety extravaganza inspired by the renowned Frontierland show enjoyed by Walt Disney himself! Join Miss Lily and her Saloon Girls for an homage to the classic Golden Horseshoe Revue, a fun-filled show filled with plenty of family-friendly comedy, singing and dancing. Performances are Thursday through Monday, from January 10 through February 4, 2013."

Hmm. Words like "salute," "inspired by," and "homage" make me "uninspired," "disappointed," and "sad."

Also, "Miss Lily?"

Limited Time Magic? More like Limited Magic Time. :/

Disney never said they were raising the prices to thin out the APs. (For THAT, they'd need to stop selling churros - ZING!) Taken at face value, Disney raised the prices because we'll pay them. No nefarious plot, simply a push to get to the outer limits of what we'll keep paying. The extras are a way to justify the price increases.

I know they never said it but the hefty hike this last time sure implied it.

Disagree: the price increases are Disney's attempts to make more money. It's the whole point of the company after all :)

How can they not like AP's? If there are approximately 1,000,000 passholes and let's say the (current) price averages around $450 (my WAG), what's not to love about close to half a BILLION in revenue? Sure, the economics aren't that simple, but it isn't anything to sneeze at!
