Lands' End November/Christmas Catalog

(The one with the "cracked" picture of the Christmas tree on the cover.)

Has anyone caved in and bought anything yet? This is the first Lands' End catalog I've gotten in a while that has anything that I've been interested in.

I'm tempted by the twinset on page 15.

Nothing has gotten to me yet. But, I've learned that "squall" is the new word for winter.

Matterhorn Fan 10-29-2005 03:50 PM

Not even the Moleskin jacket (p. 62)?

I've learned that there's no such things as turtlenecks anymore. Now they're "mocks" and "turtles." Were they running low on ink or something? They're not selling "moleskin" (62), "classic squall" (39), or "lighthouse" (159).

Oh, I take that back. They are selling "moleskins" (182). Bah.

Lands' End, L.L. Bean...I knew I was a "grown-up" when I started to prefer wearing their mens' khakis and button-up shirts, rather than my jeans and a ratty tee-shirt. The only tee-shirts in my closet these days are Disney ones, or ones bought at Disney parks, for the most part. No more "Metallica" shirts and worn-out jeans for me, thank you very much! Yep, Im an ad-ult now.........who saves up to go to Disneyland and Disney World with his wife, to enjoy the sights and sound that remind him of ..being...a...kid.
There is something odd going on here. I'm just too tired to figger it out.

There's nothing wrong going on. You shop in all the right places.

I'm assuming you love Target, of course. It's "the store."

I'm a loyal LL Bean shopper, so I don't even look at the others. Bean stuff lasts and if it doesn't, you can return. Plus they've really made the women's stuff more fashionable recently.

Yeah but the Lands' End catalog right now is the newest, therefore the object of my attention.

LLBean is better for cute puppy photos. And I do like their stuff. I'm suprised by how much in the LE catalog I like this time around--it's been a while since I've ordered from them.

Of the "big three" of the catalogs I put in that stylistic category, I've been liking the Eddie Bauer catalog. Scrumptious cable turtlenecks in delicious colors. I think the colors in EB are what get to me. I tend to really relate to the color pallet. The colors of LE and J Crew - also in the same "type" category - are too bright for my taste.

The most recent stuff I bought from Eddie Bauer wore out really fast, like in one year of wear. Sweaters and pants pilled.

I'm way into merino wool. Next time I go to NZ I'm investing in a new top. Expensive, but worth the money.

EB stuff fits me like it was cut for a man. Maybe because it was cut for a man. Maybe because I'm not shaped like a man. In any case, although I like their colors a lot, I don't see myself spending money on that catalog.
