Try to stick around until level 5 (I know, not easy) and keep your eye on the happy face sign. Something mildly satisfying happens at level 5.

I'm currently at level 12.

I made it to level 9, then they got me.

Level 7 took an amazing amount of self-control.

I like a program that fully documents how much time I've wasted.

For some reason I decided to do it. Don't know why. So I finished "not" shooting the puppy in 10:15.

I wonder why the time variance? Perhaps I got the short version.
