We're taking the plunge!!
 

Tom and I are engaged!

We went to Santa Barbara for a getaway between ye olde job and job nouveau, and when we ducked in a store there to peer at rings, he finally found the one he'd been searching for. And I was in love with it too-- an incredibly beautiful Ceylon sapphire (rare because most companies no longer buy stones from a country in conflict, and this one was from before that.) He bought it on the spot.

I figured he was going to hang onto it for some unspecified time... but we were holding hands as we walked under the store's threshold, and I kept going as he stayed put... so I tumbled back into his arms, and he proposed right there, on the lovely Santa Barbara paseo. I tried to respond, but like our kitty Lillian when she's overcome, I meowed but nothing came out! Once I got my senses back, I sputtered "yes" several times. (And totally cried, but he wiped my tears.)

Despite all above appearances to the contrary, we are neither going into this fearing for our lives, or with our eyes closed. We are mid-bliss, and once we stop floating we'll probably have more details cemented. For now we're just excited to have the rest of our lives to look ridiculous together on water rides-- and we wanted to share the good news with all of you.

WellL, I'm STILL smiling from hearing the news a bit earlier. I can't WAIT to celebtrate with the soon-to-be Bride and Groom at the Cemetery.
