Happy Halloween !!!

BOO !!

Well, we're having a lovely Roast Corpse for dinner (Poor Babe/Wilbur), and the children from around the neighbourhood will shortly be coming round for Trick Or Treat !! Happily they actually get into Halloween here in Forster, We have the goodies ready, but I forgot to bring my ghoul mask, so I'll just have to frighten them another way.. Bwah hah hah hah. Gotta make them earn their candy.

BTW: Google has a really cool logo this halloween. Make sure you click on the Punpkin "e" in google. :D (ps: Neener Neener, we got it first :p )

Gotta go, my "Body Jus" is clotting.

Happy Halloween All !!!

Happy Halloween, Future People!

I just turned on TCM and at the exact moment I did the shower scene from Psycho was on. Creeeepy! Happy Halloweeeeen! (Now I'm watching the rest.)

Gemini Cricket 10-30-2009 10:37 PM

Anyone know where I can get the song from the Disney version of Legend of Sleepy Hollow where Brom Bones is singing to everyone about the Headless Horseman?

"You can't reason with a headless maaaaaannnn!"

(I know, I'm obsessed with this story. I loves it. It just screams Halloween, doesn't it?)

Don't know why but my Google logo just switched over to the Halloween one. If you keep clicking different things happen. :)

Hehehehehehe. I have to tell you this...

Aussies don't generally get into the haunts and scares and frightening displays for Halloween, so my victims were ripe for the plucking this year.

A bunch of local kids dressed as witches and ghosts and fairies came to the door, and Mum answered. As she was handing out candy, she called out and said "Hey Rob, there's some guests at the door!"

I came down the hallway, being careful not to look at them, then once on the porch, I took a look at the green-faced witch in front of me and let out the loudest scream I've ever done in my life. It was almost to rival CoasterMatt if that's possible. ;)

Mum was not expecting this, and jumped 2 feet into the air. The kids were even less prepared for someone actually being scary and jumped 4 feet ! :D  I exclaimed "Goodness, you were all so scary looking you frightened me" and they started to laugh, knowing that they were safe and I wasn't a homicidal maniac. Their mum at the end of the driveway laughed and waved at me.
Yeah... they earned their candy this year. :snap:

I love hearing that you guys get into it. Not many countries do. I remember in England not much went on.

innerSpaceman 10-31-2009 07:41 AM

Purportedly, it's been gaining popularity in France solely by virtue of the annual awesomeness at Euro Disney.

Here in the States, I believe it's the single most widely celebrated holiday.

Happy Halloween everyone! A Saturday rarity Halloween!!

Cadaverous Pallor 10-31-2009 08:06 AM

Happy Halloween!

My work appropriate costume is on...which means I'm off to work. At least I have some seriously swanky plans tonight.

Snowflake 10-31-2009 08:50 AM

Happy Haunts everyone!

Happy Halloween!!

Tonight, we're having a small party for my little (three year old) Niece, who wanted it at my house. I have no idea what she's going to be, but I know it's going to be cute! However, I'm going to be a Flapper for tonight, so that'll be fun. :)

Happy Haunting!

LSPoorEeyorick 10-31-2009 10:23 AM

So excited! It's been a great Halloween season for us. We've decorated, had a scary movie marathon, Been to Universal twice, visited the Dia de los Muertes celebration at Hollywod Forever, enjoyed Disneyland and to the Mickey's Trick-or-Treat party, gone Hallow-shopping, listened to spooky playlists, gathered cool costumes, and today we're carving pumpkins and heading to a masquerade. I'd be heading for a big letdown in November if we weren't going to Italy and France.

LSPE, I hate you, just a teeny tiny bit, today. ;)

If anyone deserves to have a great time and wonderful things to look forward to.....

Unfortunately, the religious right keeps bitching louder and louder (and wrongly) about the "evil" aspects of the holiday

Happy Halloween!

At our farm, we have one head o' beagle, two head o' cats, a bumper crop of maple leaves on the ground, and ...

Watch your head as you walk to the front door for your candy! Those pesky spiders have a habit of dropping down the back of a person's shirt.

(The spiders are little pom poms I made from black yarn. They sway in the wind, which we have a lot of today.)

Gemini Cricket 10-31-2009 01:06 PM

I was in London during Halloween one year. Ralphie and I were out and about all night and we only saw one person in Picadilly Square with a costume on. The costume? Devil horns on a head band. Woo hoo?
:D

This year, I volunteered at a local theatre which was renting costumes from their huge costume vault for Halloween. It was neat helping people put together costumes and coming up with ideas. Some people have great ideas for Halloween. Others needed help.
:D

There was this hottie who came in and wanted to dress up as a cowboy. Of course, I just melted into the floor. But get this, he wanted to dress up as... wait for it... Jack Twist. (And, no, I didn't suggest it.) Did he leave with the best costume in Hawai'i? You bet your buttocks he did. Wanted to look cool for his "girlfriend" he said. Yeah. I made her look really authentic.
:)

This YouTube user has some classic Disney Halloween stuff on his channel. It's worth checking it out. Disney's Halloween treat is one of them.
:)

I bought two versions of "The Headless Horseman" on iTunes recently. Kay Starr and Thurl Ravenscroft.

I'm having horrible costume anxiety. Nothing's come together yet, and the party's just a few hours away. Waaahh!

Decorations in the window, candy dish full, costume on, waiting for some trick-or-treaters. Not that I'm really expecting any, but we'll see.

Just realized we forgot to RSVP

No party for me, which was okay. I watched The Body Snatcher with Boris Karloff, a fabulous Val Lewton/Robert Wise horror/noir. The ending, unforgettable and totally scary. :D

We had another incredible end to our monthlong Halloween (and that really wasn't enough- I think Halloween should be extended until at LEAST November 16) - Got to dance the Time Warp, got chased by Michael Myers, and witnessed the most AWESOME way to close a theme park, EVER!

Pics?

Also costume pics? Has anyone gotten out of bed yet? ;)

Gemini Cricket 11-01-2009 02:09 PM

I had a great Halloween. Pics to come. My costume was a hit. I created my own tribe of hippies at the party. It was awesome. And, after being asked by the birthday boy to do Capt Morgan (yeah, I know not my fav) shots with him last night, I feel okay this morning.
:)

CoasterMatt 11-01-2009 02:18 PM

I've got about 800 pics from this year's Halloween fun- I've put close to 200 of them up on my facebook page so far.

I learned that my limit should be 2 long islands...especially if I'm the one mixing them. I'm surprised how functional I was today (I think having to take a shower to get the makeup off before going to bed helped).

I think I'd be stinko after one long island. Especially if you made it or Chris made it or Isaac made it. Well, if Isaac made it... a half a long island.
:D

Phantom of the Opera??? 1925?

CoasterMatt 11-01-2009 11:51 PM

The Court of Miracles - Named after The Miracle Man (1919, starring Lon Chaney) this historic corner of the backlot has been visited by most of the classic Universal horror monsters, including Dracula (Bela Lugosi), the Wolfman (Lon Chaney Jr.) and the Hunchback of Notre Dame (Lon Chaney Sr.). Frankenstein's Monster made his first appearance here in 1931.

This is one of the many reasons why I love living in SoCal. This was just posted by a friend on Facebook:

Quote:

So we go to our suburban Valley neighborhood potluck trick-or-treat for moms and dads and kids, and Kiefer Sutherland shows up. Roping people in the street. My 3yo daughter kept trying to show him her Squishy Eyeball. "COWBOY. SQUISHY EYEBALL. SQUISHY EYEBALL!!!!!!" It was a great party.
