Shameless Plug: RHPS on Friday the 13th

If you have wanted to come see The Rocky Horror Picture Show but felt it was too late and/or too expensive, have I got news for you! This week on Friday The 13th, Midnight Insanity is putting on a special performance of RHPS at 11:00pm (instead of the normal Midnight) for only two dollars! This is a perfect night to come if you're on a budget and/or can't stay up too late.

And if that wasn't enough, the very next night, Saturday November 14th, we're putting on our annual tradition known as The Homo Horror Picture Show*. For this show, all the main characters will be portrayed by guys. It winds up being about 30% sexy and 70% funny. Homo Horror will begin at Midnight. Admission is $9.

MI performs at the Warner Grand theater in San Pedro. Click here for directions.

I'd love it if any/all of our Swankers could make it to at least one of our shows. :)

*December 19th is The Dykey Horror Picture Show which features an all female cast. My straight brethren tell me it's extremely sexy.

flippyshark 11-08-2009 02:11 PM

Who are you playing?

SzczerbiakManiac 11-08-2009 02:23 PM

I am the Phantom.

lashbear 11-08-2009 05:27 PM

I REALLY wish I had a teleporter machine at my disposal (or Jeannie or Samantha as a relative...)

Have fun, all you Transsexual Transylvanians!! :snap:

PS: can someone get a Vid or pix of the Homo Horrow Picture Show for me? Ta.

Break a pantyhosed leg!

CoasterMatt 11-08-2009 09:01 PM

That is our monthiversary!! We'll be there!!

SzczerbiakManiac 11-10-2009 04:39 PM

Minor change. It's still just two bucks and still on Friday the 13th, but the starting time has been pushed back. Doors will open at 11:30 and the show'll start at Midnight.

I don't know why the change.

lashbear 11-10-2009 05:38 PM

Cast didn't want to get out of bed early? ;)

Morrigoon 11-10-2009 08:48 PM

So that's where Midnight Insanity has moved to. Cool.

CoasterMatt 11-10-2009 11:05 PM

We'll STILL be there :)

Why am I more inclined to check out the Homo Horror Picture Show?

SzczerbiakManiac 11-11-2009 11:13 AM

See the yellow & black banner below.

I'm working Friday but the Homo show on Saturday might be fun. Definitely keep me updated on the Dykey show!

Dykey Horror is December 19

innerSpaceman 11-11-2009 12:19 PM

Of the Friday the 13th and the next day Homo show, which would you recommend I'd enjoy more?

SzczerbiakManiac 11-11-2009 01:13 PM

It depends on what you want to see.

Friday the 13th will be a pretty standard performance. Strong choreography, screen accuracy... a "straight" version of RHPS with a sprinkling of triskadekaphobic references.

For Homo Horror, all bets are off. You're going to be seeing guys play roles they don't normally play. Costumes will probably be ill-fitting, choreography may not be up to our normal standard, but it's all played for laughs. We have a couple hot guys, but I wouldn't recommend coming to Homo Horror expecting guy candy.

I dunno, does that help?

innerSpaceman 11-11-2009 01:26 PM

It helps a bit. I've seen PLENTY (too many, in fact) regular Rocky shows with brilliant costumes, perfect choreography, screen-matching impeccability.

What I haven't seen enough of are theme shows. Back in The Day (and I'm talking late 70's), we tried our hand at a number of theme shows and they were so much fun. None of the casts I've worked with in L.A. ever attempted that* ... and perhaps that was because they were still working on getting their brilliant costumes, perfect choreography and screen-matching impeccability up to the snuff the New York casts achieved years earlier. (Though I will say that a certain L.A cast was years ahead of New York in the set-reproduction department).

So I'm thinking a fun theme show might be more my cup of tea.

* caveat - I stopped doing Rocky in the mid-80's, so I'm not saying L.A. casts never attempted theme shows.

See you Saturday :)

History In The Making....

This could be the first time ever that Ghoulish Delight, NirvanaMan, Borneio, Capn' Jack, Chris, Kevy, Flippyshark, Alex, Strangler Lewis, Mousepod, Melonballer, CoasterMatt & Tref have all gone out to the theatre together dressed as women....

(Apologies to any in the group that I may have forgotten)

It'd be awesome. :)

Thanks for the flyer on the Dec 19th show.

CoasterMatt 11-11-2009 06:57 PM

It wouldn't be the first time I've gone to the theater dressed as a woman (In high school, I went dressed as Columbia on a dare)

alphabassettgrrl 11-11-2009 07:35 PM

Excellent. :)
