Disquieting Metamorphosis needs a Shower
 

Save the date (if youhaven't already). We're having the official LoT Baby Shower for little Mr. DM who's name really begins with "T" on Sunday, December 6th at 2 pm. Fun, games, food and play will be had. Evites are going out on Saturday. If you want to go and I don't have your email addy, please PM me.

Sadly must regret. My brother's 30th birthday is the same day.

Is that what normally goes on at showers? Eew!

Unfortunately, yes. Besides baby food, I've also heard that they'll use melted candy bars smeared on diapers, and that you have to identify the candy by examining it closely.

That's usually why I avoid them, but this one, I wouldn't miss for the world. Besides, the hosts have class, and wouldn't even think of doing the typical tacky stuff.

Heather is going to be hosting her 13-year-old stepsister this weekend, and won't be there - but count me in!

Enough of my friends have guessed this that I know I'm surrounded by wonderfully like-minded geeks. (I myself thought of this name back when we were choosing names and wanted something with a T.) Should have gone with T.K....

I've been to many baby showers over the years and only once did I play the diaper game. Melted candy bars. I had no issues smelling and even tasting the more questionable ones. I won the game. :D

The other game I don't much care for is the guessing the size of the mommy's tummy with a piece of string.

I DO like the finding the tiny safety pins in a bowl of rice.

I'd quite gotten used to seeing my name almost every time I use a public restroom, but I don't think I'll ever be comfortable with the urinals at the Spectrum. The Sloan branding is right smack at the bottom of the urinal, on the drain, meaning using the urinal requires peeing directly on my own name. That's just wrong.

That reminds me... My parents used to have a piece of antique silver that was stamped "ROGERS". I used to think it was an old family piece... Until I found out about the Wm Rogers Co.

When I was around 8 my parents purchased a small amount of Disney stock for me and my sister. Shortly after we visited Disneyland. My oh so clever dad said to me, "Now that you own stock, that means you own part of Disneyland. See, look!" and pointed to the Sloan/Royal on a uirnal fixture.

Fortunately at 8 I was well aware that my dad was full of it and gave him my usual, "Gee Dad, hillarious".

The urinals used to bring to my mind Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan before I knew GD. Now, of course, I think of Greg and giggle a little -- not every time, though. I am almost an adult now, after all. So, possible good news GD, you've replaced a coaching legend in my public urination routine.

I'm so glad many people were able to attend! This was truly a group effort to plan en execute. Heidi and Tom planned the fabulous (and twisted) baby shower games, Chris was left to the house cleaning while I worked on Saturday, Susan made the fabulous cake and Teresa did the amazing fondant "carving", KatieSue made not one, but three amazing appetizers, DP brought chocolate covered fruit, Marla brought the sinfully delicious cheese dip, Trader Joes made the rest of the food and the wine and the guests all brought the cutest (and swankiest) damn baby gifts I've ever seen.

What great pictures! Just for the record, Larchmont Village was freezing, and I had a lousy farmer's market. I'd have much rather been in the cozy confines of the baby chower. Meh, I covered bills.

SO....we have a mystery on our hands.

There was a shower gift that went unlabeled. We tried to figure out who it was and no one owned up (read: I yelled at the bustling shower party throng "WHO BROUGHT THIS?" and no one responded). Since Katiesue left early, we assumed it was from her, but she has since stated that it wasn't.

It's a figurine of a cat playing the fiddle, sitting on a tree stump. Twisted wires spell "BABY" and are meant for holding photos or notes.

Mysteeeriooooous.....

That was mine.

Here's hoping NA gets those photos up soon.

When she does you'll get to see the awesome gifts I received. I'm not sure if there's a photo of this one, so I took one to make sure everyone gets to see it.

I'm glad that it was outed here as a gag....perhaps my reaction was more polite than the prankster would have wished. ;) GD and I kept saying to each other, which of our swanky friends would buy such a thing?? Hehe.

Who was the prankster?

Disneyphile and Kevy Baby made references to it but both of them denied responsibility...I think it may have been one of their spouses, in which case they definitely get an aiding and abetting charge.

The most ironic part is that because I wasn't sure who gave it to us, it has stayed out of the pile of presents we have packed away and is sitting next to me on the couch. I get to look at it every day...
