Why I Believe Printers Were Sent From Hell to Make Us Miserable
LMAO...... it's funny cuz it's truuueeeeeeeeeee
I can relate...totally!
Heh, ironically I would have been in total agreement a few days ago, but we just bought a new printer/scanner/copier and it's fantastic. It's wirelss AND came with the usb cable, go figure! Of course it's also not the cheapest bargain basement model (for once!), and I can't argue with the ink b.s., but for once I'm totally happy with the operation of a printer.
We have one of those wireless printers at work. It's slow when you do the wireless thing. But when you plug in with a USB cord, it's super fast.
I think the price of printer ink is one of the biggest scams out there. Total suckage. :D |
We got a new one about 2 weeks ago...same description as yours GD. It worked perfectly until a couple of days ago...now it constantly says it's out of paper, with a partially full tray, we just keep filling the paper to full and then it's happy...ugh!
I always thought my old Epson printer had a malevolent entity possessing it.
We have an all-in-one HP at work. Ever since Apple update the OS, the scanning function doesn't work. It's been 6 months...
My Epson eats ink, but otherwise works fine and dandy. Of course, now that I've said so, I will go home and it will no longer work. ;)
Mine died a few weeks ago, due to internal injuries from the previous owner's "smacking" it whenever it wouldn't print. (A friend of my dad's who is a big idiot - one of those who would often forget to turn it on before trying to print. ;) )
I have a new one of the same model being delivered this week. I want to stick with this model, because I can refill the cartridges myself and save a load on ink. The manufacturer doesn't approve of refilling, but I have a "resetter" for the cartridge chips, making them brand spanking new with each refill. ;) |
I must say, my printer experience is much like my experience with cable companies. Everybody else has nothing but bad things to say about them but my experiences have always been pretty good.
I think we are basically at the point where printers are almost disposable. You buy the cheap-o printer and then just buy a new one when the ink runs out. Just a thought.
For a minute, I thought I was going to have to have a long talk with the OP (based on the thread title), but then I realized that he was talking about a desktop printer and not print professionals (such as I am).

I work in IT, printers are a royal PITA! Though to be fair, a good chunk of the reason they suck is because lusers don't know how to treat/use them properly. |
As a fun add on to the OP - The Oatmeal posted this today... irony :D I absolutely freakin' love theoatmeal.com

I switched to a Brother all-in-one. Other than being pretty complicated, it works ok. But, it won't print pictures on regular copy paper worth a darn. |
Ok, I second the awesomeness of the Oatmeal!

Oatmeal fans of the world, untie !

Love it! I just replaced my HP all-in-one at home (scanner stopped working) with a Canon all-in-one. HP can suck it. I love the Canon so far. But it does do that robot humping noise each time it's "warming up" to print. And those robots go at it for about 30 seconds before finally printing something.
And the IT guys just (a couple hours ago) replaced the HP all-in-one in our office (fax stopped working...scanner stopped long ago) with a Brother all-in-one. We'll see how long this one lasts. |
My view of all-in-ones is that they do everything poorly. Though my canon photo printer is the best I've had at scanning and copying. Still restrict it 95% to photo printing, though, which is what it is best at.
I don't have kind things to say about Brother.
