Quake - 6.0 NoCal Nobiggie

There was a 6.0 off the coast of Northern Cali today at 3:20pm est

The USGS notified me via email at: 3:49pm

CNN Tweeted me about it at: 3:52pm

Quakeinfo tweeted at: 3:35pm

The first to feel and tweet was Caksf at: 3:25pm

God I love the Information Age.

Alex 02-04-2010 02:03 PM

Caksf felt the quake 55 minutes before it happened? Twitter is pretty cool.

Moonliner 02-04-2010 02:05 PM

No. Five min after. Or at least that's when the tweet was.

Ghoulish Delight 02-04-2010 02:13 PM

3:25 isn't 55 minutes before 3:20. It's 5 minutes after.

Not Afraid 02-04-2010 02:31 PM

6.0 isn't small.

Compared to some it is.

A 6.0 is not small, by any definition. Sorry, East Coaster. :p

Alex 02-04-2010 03:44 PM

Did anybody say small? He said Nobiggie. And 6.0s are frequently "Nobiggie" in the sense that they don't matter much.

And I swear when I posted the OP said the first tweet was at 2:25. But it may be tied into my calendrical retardation.

Snowflake 02-04-2010 04:06 PM

Gee, did not feel a thing but friends up in Humboldt sure did!

Strangler Lewis 02-04-2010 04:22 PM

Water fall from sky.

Ants invade.

No quake.

Oh, so you thought she was still talking about earthquakes.

Gemini Cricket 02-04-2010 04:28 PM

And of course there's no Biggie. He got shot a long time ago.

Knowing the OP'er, it is entirely possible that he made a change. He is know to do things like that.

Moonliner 02-04-2010 08:11 PM

Who me?

Couldn't be.

If I made a change after another user posted it would show up as an edit.

:D

Actually, I think the "Edited" message is strictly a function of time: it only shows up if you edit like (guess on time) 10 minutes after the original post.

The earthquake must have been small because the next tweet from CNN was, "... eating cereal."
