Airship Travel!

I'd do that

that sounds great. I imagine it will be expensive though.

Up above the world so high
Like a diamond in the sky |
It's pretty but it does not appear to have any method of steering. And being able to only rise to 12,000 feet is going to mean being unable to fly above weather making for some very nice airsick bag usage.
Being in a bag of hydrogen over the middle of the Atlantic in an electrical storm would be quite a thrill. But it's very pretty. |
Out of my price range at the current moment I'm sure!
But I'll agree with Alex, it's very pretty. |
I had to wonder about what this craft would do in severe storm conditions myself. Still, incredibly cool. (And at 100 passengers per balloon, including 6 crew and 14 support staff, yes, the fare would be very high, I'm sure!)

WOW, what a cool idea!
If it flys at 90mph, unless it is dependant entirly on air currents for momentum, I would think it has some sort of propulsion. The article mentions solar power, I wonder if it has electrical props to not only propel, but also for some minimal streering? Something that large would still be at the mercy of the weather. |

Hydrogen as a medium for lift has a bad rap. While it burns quite energetically when mixed with air, you could climb up into the hydrogen envelope and have a smoke without causing any problems (other than your own suffocation and the cigarette/match refusing to light). |

Looks kind of cool, but I think they should just relaunch dirigibles. It's been pretty well proven that the Hindenburg disaster resulted not from its hydrogen, but from the hyper-flammability of its skin. So there's really no reason to worry about them exploding, so long as modern materials are used to skin the things. I'd love to travel by dirigible. I've always wished we still had that Golden Age view of getting there being half the fun.

Very cool but instead of being Diamond Shaped they should be round, like a ball........or a Death Star:)
