The Oscars
 

Just in case anyone doesn't know - this Sunday I'm going to be hosting (in the loosest sense of the word) a viewing of the Oscars.

The details are simple:
4ish - my place.
I'm going to supply a bunch of pizzas and salad, so if you're coming and want to eat something that's not one of those two things, feel free to bring it.

If you're coming from Morrigoon's wedding, please feel free to steal food and bring it to the party. Just be discreet. ;)

iSm, on Sunday I was thinking deli platter... but now I'm leaning toward Two Boots pizzas.

I'm willing to be persuaded otherwise.

I'm not trying to persuade you. I love pizza. But since I'm looking for something to bring, I thought I could contribute deli platter since that is now an opening I can grab without having to come up with something original!

No food will be turned away. But I'll make sure to stock up on tupperwares, so everyone can take stuff home if there's too much...

Stupid NHL scheduling a stupid game on stupid Oscar night. Though with the way the stupid Ducks have been playing I may skip it. Stupid.

I have a friend in Vegas who scheduled his 30th birthday party on Oscar night. Despite that his birthday was nearly a month ago ... and despite that he's GAY.

I told him he could have his Gay Card revoked for this kind of thing. :p




Hmmm, tacos would certainly be cheaper than a deli platter. Hmmmmm.

I will bring my laptop and food NOT themed to a movie, since I've seen a total of ONE this year.

I'm not sure what I'm bringing yet. Cake with fudge-tangerine frosting? Coconut cheesecake? It's all so perplexing!

Thanks to everyone who showed up. We got 16 people (and three chihuahuas) into the room! Once we realized that turning on the AC was a good idea, it was very comfortable. I couldn't ask for a better bunch - and I'm really looking forward to getting our Casa Chihuahua movie nights up and running.

So what movie did you end up watching after the Oscars?

Yeah, finding blue foods is a pain.

Naw, blue beverages take a little scavenger-hunting but they're not too much of a challenge.

After cleaning up, I sat down and tried to watch an episode of The Daily Show from last week and found myself struggling to stay awake... so I gave in and went to bed.

And big big thanks to everyone who brought stuff - from the creative snacks from LSPE, Tom, NA & €uro to the wonderful baked goods from Prudence... it was fairly awesome. (I think the most remarked on treat, though, was the sparkling wine in cans - with sippy straws - that our pal Savannah brought.)

Make pasta, put blue fool coloring in the water when you boil it, voila, blue food!

Since the pasta is already yellow(ish), you will need to go heavy on the blue dye or you wind up with green pasta.

Large stuffed pasta shells dyed blue look very alien. That's one of the dishes which was served on-board the Klingon ship in Star Trek VI.

Humm, something that's unnaturally blue would kinda fit the theme....

Did anyone take pictures of the punch? I think libraryvixen did but she's on the road and hasn't posted them yet.

I didn't take any pictures even though we said we were going to take pictures of our "fashion plate". But, after she got drunk and fell over, it wasn't as interesting. :(

You and I have different definitions of interesting.

My favorite blue food - blue corn tortillas (wrapped around really good enchiladas, preferably.)

I was gonna take some pictures, but after I got drunk and fell over ... I kinda forgot to.



Too bad. The Best Picture Buffet and The Fashion Plate were beyond Rad.
