A paperwork hero is something to be!

Cadaverous Pallor 04-04-2010 10:01 AM

I swear, it's like anthropology. What is this ancient culture?

RStar 04-04-2010 10:31 AM

Ah, the days when men's jackets all smelled like stale cigarettes. Great times!

Although the cig in the lady's hand in the first picture looks like a joint. And do you think those two polished off all those drinks themselves??? I count like 10 glasses there....

Judging by the the one on the right (sitting on the bench side), I would say it is a definite possibility.

Oh yes... She's sh!tfaced alright.

JWBear 04-05-2010 08:45 PM

Hair!

Alex 04-05-2010 08:48 PM

It's amazing. A tree so ugly that the hair is almost overlooked.

Morrigoon 04-05-2010 09:53 PM

Where are these pics from?

Rec Room Luau 1964

Strangler Lewis 05-05-2010 09:49 AM

I have to say it.

It's "quelle." A quell soirée would most likely be a nit combing party.

Kinda like "nit-picking"?

Merci bien, monsieur.

In my antiqueness, I remember those 1960's "luaus". With apologies to GC, I still picture Hawaii as a combination of those parties and the Tiki Room.

Snowflake 05-07-2010 10:08 AM

I do not have pics, but my Mom was so enamoured of the Tiki Room she did the screened in patio a la Tiki Room. The only thing was no fountain and the birds did not sing. A frightening carved coconut face, complete with cigar. Loads of birds, tiki lights and tikis.

Strangler Lewis 05-07-2010 11:03 AM

I can still smell the packets of whiskey sour mix.

JWBear 07-05-2010 10:56 PM

Can't you just smell the stale cigarette smoke and hear the cheesy piano music?

€uroMeinke 07-05-2010 11:45 PM

tres swank

wendybeth 07-06-2010 12:28 AM

Omg, those pictures are awesome. The hair on that chick was amazing! Scarily so.

flippyshark 07-06-2010 06:42 AM

I could look at these kind of pictures all day. In some ways, I'd love to be able to zip back in a time machine and get video. I'm sure the smell would be troublesome, and the food would probably be comically ghastly, but the fascination would be pretty endless.

JWBear 11-05-2010 08:25 PM

It's all about those shoes...

€uroMeinke 11-05-2010 10:39 PM

and the pumpkin she's sitting on

Perhaps she is trying to hatch it.

wendybeth 11-06-2010 12:27 AM

It's hard to believe that these people were, basically, us......in their day. Now they are either dead, or so old they wish they were dead. I love looking at the minutiae in the pictures- figuring out what was new and trendy, how much it might have cost, what the livelihoods and income of these people were, who was screwing who...

Oh, and the chick on the right in the OP was totally into sailors. She may have even been one.

As do I. In the most recent, I love the way the flames were captured and I am digging on the papasan chair.

Not Afraid 11-07-2010 12:46 AM

Those shoes need a Carmen Miranda dress!

Please. That's a man, baby. They both are.

JWBear 12-07-2010 09:11 PM

lashbear 12-07-2010 10:43 PM

You can tell the huy on the right isn't related to these people yet... two days later, he stopped dating the girl on his left.

The Morgansteins always DID love intimidating new beaus.

Cadaverous Pallor 12-08-2010 11:37 AM

Did they coordinate their outfits? You wear red, you wear blue...it's like they're cartoon characters.

The similarity to Commodore Toot is amazing!

Then there is that retro-ad/greting card image I cannot seem to find right now, this guy looks like the model for it!

I was more entranced by the upside-tit-grapefruit.
