Big Valley Movie

It seems that someone is making a movie version of the 60's TV series "Big Valley". Susan Sarandon will be starring.

Strangler Lewis 04-29-2010 09:57 AM

Hmm. Maybe I should dust off that "High Chaparral" script.

innerSpaceman 04-29-2010 10:01 AM

Ok, when I saw the title, I was like NO WAY - Not without Barbara Stanwyck, or at least her skeleton propped up in the corner.

But, yeah, ok, Susan Sarandon is big enough guns for me.

(and now, fine, I can't get the theme music out of my head. grrrr.)

Is big guns? I must say I read that as "has" and had to agree. . Fine actress - lovely woman.

Strangler Lewis 04-29-2010 10:11 AM

Who let her in?

Alex 04-29-2010 10:16 AM

I must admit that, with a few exceptions, Barbara Stanwyck has never done it for me so I don't have a problem with someone stepping into her shoes (but then it is also the case that with a few exceptions Susan Sarandon also does nothing for me).

No real opinion here as I haven't seen Big Valley since around the age of 10 when it stopped playing on the local independent station. But, at least at that age, it bored the hell out of me when my grandmother watched it.

I had never noticed (or thought about) the similarity between these two women

Thank you. I thought I was the only one. I mean, I loved Double Indemnity but that's just about the only film of hers I love.... oh, and Stella Dallas I kinda like...

innerSpaceman 04-29-2010 01:02 PM

Well, I only knew her from Big Valley and fell in love with her for that .... decades before I saw any of her films. She's awesome, the two of you on the planet who don't care for her are simply, well, there's no other way to put it - Wrong.
:p

I wonder who will play may namesake.

JWBear 04-29-2010 03:13 PM

I loved Victoria Barkley. She was a woman who took sh!t from nobody!

Strangler Lewis 04-29-2010 03:25 PM

I will say that Victoria Barkley made it difficult for me to accept the young Barbara Stanwyck as attractive.
