Talking Mickey Mouse... Wow.

They have 'em at WdW in the Castle show. Its pretty damn cool...

That is just amazing. And it's so well done. He blinks, too. Now he doesn't have to stomp his foot or clap his gloved hands to get the kids' attention...

Is the person inside actually "doing" the voice you think?

I wondered that too. If not, how do they synch the voice to the actions or the costumed CM?

I would assume Disney would want to keep the voice authentic, so unless they have a Mickey Voice Modulator, the voice actor must be somewhere else.

Wow, that is really awesome. Make me want to go visit DL right now to meet Mickey!

It's always good to keep your eyes open when you've got seven guys at crotch level...

Hmmm. It's kinda cool but honestly, I don't know how I feel about Mickey talking.

The blinking/mouth moving ones are at WDW, but this is for meet & greets and talks with the guests.

I didn't initially click the link, having also assumed it was the WdW Castle show. Glad I finally watched. That's AMAZING. I mean, Theo may never have to wonder why the heck the Mickey at Disneyland is mute! How awesome is that!

It may be cool but I like them mute. The only thing that appeals to me less than interacting with characters is talking to them.

Though it would have made things easier at Disneyland Paris when Geppetto for some reason got all excited we were American and spent the next five minutes trying to mime that s/he too was American, and specifically from Minnesota. Minnesota is really hard to mime.

How DO you say "The state that everyone mistakenly assumes Fargo is set in even though the title is a city in North Dakota" in mime?

Eventually s/he resorted to just spelling it out in the air with s/his finger.

I'll tell you, we were eating late at night it seemed like quick food and it was only after we'd been seated that we learned it was a character dining experience. That's just one of the reasons we'll never be back there (the food was awful being the biggest one).

Which restaurant?

I'm going to take a shot and go with: Cafe Mickey's in the Disney Village.

I honestly don't remember but that sounds right. It was definitely in Disney Village.

I don't know why I even asked because, with the exception of California Grill, EVERY restaurant we at at there sucked (of course we didn't eat at all of them so maybe we missed a good one, like Walt's perhaps).

Most of "Fargo" [i]is[i] set in Minnesota.

Um, I enjoyed quite a few restaurants at Disneyland Paris. Ok, well, maybe not quite a few. But a few. The saloon in Frontierland was so great and fun, I'm sorry we did not get to try it again on our second trip. The Blue Lagoon (at Pirates) was decent, if not spectacular. Toad Hall had some nice fasty foody items. Walt's on Main Street was really good, both times we visited.

There was a restaurant at the Hotel New York that was good, and other one at the Sierra that was fine. I guess I can't be too specific because I can't recall names, but maybe it's just Disney Village that was decidedly sub-par.


Of course, we did most of our better dining in Paris proper. Perhaps you've heard - - they have some great restaurants there. ;)

I suppose the lesson we took away was that food-on-the go at the Paris resort is a bad plan of action. Hours, especially off season, are weird and very little that you can grab quickly without reservation is any good (the baguette sandwiches at the deli counter on Main Street were an exception). Given the opportunity to try again we'd put more effort into planning and scheduling around food.

What would be totally scary would be if the voice boxes on the Mickeys malfunctioned and started spouting off gibberish lines, and the head wouldn't come off, and smoke started pouring out of the ears and neck..... ohhhhh man that would be nightmare city!

But so freakin' cool!!!!

This is so damn awesome. :snap: Now there's something worth waiting in line for! (Though I guess now the lines will be twice as long.)

I think this might go a long way towards making the rubberheads less scary for little ones. The mute thing is just weird.

I like talking Mickey. I finally got to watch the vid. My computer at work has no speakers. I'm convinced that the guy in the costume is doing the voice and somehow the puppetry too. There are too many spontaneous moments that happen and Mickey's movements match perfectly. I hope they give all the Fab Five characters the same treatment...
