How do you like your bananas?

Ghoulish Delight 05-13-2010 09:39 AM

6.3

JWBear 05-13-2010 09:40 AM

5.5

Alex 05-13-2010 09:40 AM

7.5. Much earlier than that and while it looks like a banana, it tastes like nothing.

I have one at my desk right now that is about 7.1. By the time I get in to work tomorrow morning it'll be about perfect.

Pirate Bill 05-13-2010 09:48 AM

7 for me.

Betty 05-13-2010 10:04 AM

4 to 5. I don't like mushy bananas.

oh wait. Are we talking about real bananas??

Kevy Baby 05-13-2010 10:47 AM

Do people eat 1's?

wolfy999 05-13-2010 10:49 AM

None of the above...can't stand bananas.

Alex 05-13-2010 10:50 AM

I though the Arizona law was bad but maybe now I see a practical societally acceptable use for it.

For all of those people willing to eat a flavorless banana (less than 7) I would like to see documentary evidence that you are legally in this country.

SzczerbiakManiac 05-13-2010 10:51 AM

6ish

But why do you have to use a complicated word like "banana"? Just call it what it is, yellow curved fruit
.

So when you're dealing with fake bananas you want something as small and squishy as possible?

Scrooge McSam 05-13-2010 11:10 AM

7 or higher

But, then, I suspect you knew that. ;)

Strangler Lewis 05-13-2010 11:51 AM

6.5 for eating. 7 or more for baking.

Cadaverous Pallor 05-13-2010 02:12 PM

I looked at the image on my phone earlier. Now, looking at it on the laptop screen, I am changing mine to a solid 5.0.

I think anyone eating a BROWN banana would be more suspect.

Alex 05-13-2010 02:18 PM

Perhaps, but when it cames to brown vs. green, I think green is more obviously the color of aliens.

Snowflake 05-13-2010 02:18 PM

I thought that the aliens everyone is upset about are brown.

Alex 05-13-2010 02:34 PM

Yes, but not in the case of trying to find aliens who like underripe bananas. Those would obviously be green.

Yes! We have no bananas.

Cadaverous Pallor 05-13-2010 05:35 PM

Damnit, Tref. Why isn't this a poll? I want to see a bar graph. Any mods want to add one?

Kevy Baby 05-13-2010 06:19 PM

I want to change my vote. I prefer tacos. Sure, an occasional banana is fun, but I will always be a taco guy.

Not Afraid 05-13-2010 06:34 PM

I like my bananas big and ripe.

Kevy Baby 05-13-2010 06:43 PM

You like smelly bananas?!?

Betty 05-13-2010 07:52 PM

What's up with the little "thing" at the bottom of the banana?

Morrigoon 05-13-2010 07:57 PM

5-6. 7 is for cooking

bewitched 05-13-2010 08:37 PM

Pirate Bill 05-20-2010 09:39 AM

There were about 5 bananas in our office break room (we get fresh fruit delivered) at perfect ripeness (7) that someone* threw away. Grrrr.

*I know who did it, but I'll stick to the generic "someone." This "someone" loves to throw stuff away. OCD is just the tip of this "someone's" iceberg of insanity.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step to overcoming a problem, and I am glad to see you are at least part way to admitting to your problem PB. Now if we can just get you to stop referring to yourself in the third person.

Pirate Bill 05-20-2010 11:09 AM

I concur that I definitely have OCD tendancies (everyone in this office does, it's sort of why we all work here and do what we do). But my iceberg of insanity leans more towards being a pack rat.

So I would never, ever, throw away perfectly perfect bananas.

Cadaverous Pallor 05-20-2010 12:50 PM

The lesson is, always take food from the break room to your desk, even if you won't eat it for a day or so.

Alex 05-20-2010 01:19 PM

Then you're reviled as the hoarder who takes food even when they don't have immediate plans to eat it, depriving someone who would eat it right away.

The Workplace, Why Bother?

Cadaverous Pallor 05-20-2010 02:56 PM

I forgot to include the part where you hide it in a drawer.

Alex 05-20-2010 03:02 PM

And the part where everybody's secretly watching everybody else at all times so the fact that you're hiding it in a drawer (not a good idea generally with a banana anyway; not good for the banana in the short term, and not good for you in the long term when you remember 3 months later you put a banana in your drawer) is just a sign that you're actually aware of how shameful your hoarding behavior is, casting it in an even more venal light.

Betty 05-20-2010 03:04 PM

We have mice. Keeping food in a drawer is an invitation to mouse poop and pee all over your office and your food nibbled on.

Mice will even eat tums or rolaids in your drawer... or will nibble the package enough to make them inediable anyway.

I should clarify that we have mice - at work. They creep me out and I would freak out with them at my home. Sorry to those of you that like them as pets.

Our Beardies (link NSFBTD) like baby mice as food once in a while.

But we don't feed them (the Beardies) bananas.

Pirate Bill 05-21-2010 10:07 AM

That banana is still good. Don't go mourning it yet. (Or throwing it out.)

Alex 05-21-2010 10:18 AM

I know, I tend to eat mine here at work a bit before they reach that stage just to avoid the askant looks (oh the evils of peer pressure) but that seems just about right to me.

Also odd (for me) to see LoT with all the annoying stuff turned on.

I was curious, so I turned off these three:
  • Show Signatures
  • Show Avatars
  • Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
Kinda boring to me. But I don't begrudge you your preferences by any means!

If I wear active on MC, I would HAVE to at least turn off signatures - they are way too loose with their standards over there on that detail.

In the past I had a script that removed:

The big LoT logo at the top of the page
The smaller LoT logo in the top row.
The "Welcome, Alex" line of text
The "You last visited" line of text
The mojo line
The entire row that contains the Threat Tools, Search this Thread...
Everything from the left column (subtitle, join date, etc.) except the poster's name and timestamp.
The submit to quotes link
Everything below the Post Quick Reply and Advanced buttons.

It was very nice but then something changed that broke the script and I never got around to fixing it so now I just settle with the extraneous stuff that vB lets me turn off.

Kevy Baby 06-04-2010 02:38 PM

Wow - a total minimalist approach

Alex 06-04-2010 02:40 PM

Yes, I'm here to read stuff, so away went all the stuff I don't pay any attention to or never use.

Though initially I was just looking for a way to get rid of teh top logo so that 1/3 of each initial page view wasn't wasted. But once I figured that out I went to town.

Kevy, click User CP. The style drop down appears on that page still (I mean it is at the bottom of the page, you don't need to navigate to an actual sub-option).

I'm in love. When it comes to screen clutter I'm only just short of how Tim Robbins' character in Noise reacted to unnecessarily noises.

To show my appreciation I will provide your second child.

I'd argue that most of the excess is like watching The Wizard of Oz, completely colorized and transferred into 3D while not only is the audio track for the movie playing but so do random bits of audio from other movies just in case you get bored. All while an animated network bug appears in a lower corner telling you what will be on TMC next Tuesday evening and that a new episode of The Closer starts in 30 minutes.

Not really, the outside should be well browned, but the inside shouldn't be all bruised to hell. Also, the inside shouldn't have dentition. And if they do, they should have regular cleanings and check ups with a dentist.
