PacMan!
PacMan turnes 30 today. Wow. Even more awesome Google has an interactive PacMan on their main page.
Welcome to the future. |
Took me forever to figure out how to actually get to the basic Google home page with the interactive Pac-Man game. I use I Google which just has a small logo (and even when I log out and just go to google.com it presents me with a page asking me to use iGoogle).
But now I've played it and it only took me half a level to slip into that feeling I had as a child of the '80s. Namely "huh, people find this game fun?" |
It's also the 30th anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back :D
|
30 Years on and I still suck at PacMan.
|
I was very good at pacman back in the day. Late night closing shift at Safeway we'd all play and usually had the highest posted scores on the game.
Thanks BtD, this made me smile. :D |
I still miss my 2600 joysticks. All the reproductions never had the same feel.

I love that Google did this. The game is complete, even with the intermittent chase cartoons! :snap: |
WTF Google. It works on the iPhone but not the Android (aka the Google phone).
|
If you don't move your Pac Man guy at the start, the ghosts leave you alone totally.
:) ETA: Never mind. I just died. :D |
I love it. And am as useless at Pac-Man as ever.

I went to Google and clicked to use "Classic View". I could see it, but no functionality came up. |

Interesting. This article says it does.

Gonna boot up my Mame arcade at home and play me some Puck Man.
|
The Atari 2600 Pac Man was terrible.

:D Pac Man is supposed to go "bwaka bwaka bwaka bwaka" not "dank dank dank dank"! AND Pac Man is supposed to be able to face in different directions. :D |
I loved my Atari 2600, and a few years ago I saw an "Atari Throwback" machine, with every Atari 2600 game ever loaded on it. Same styling, same joy sticks, everything. So I bought it, incredibly excited to bring it home and play and relive that childhood the CP speaks of.
Well, I plugged it in, truned it on, and then wondered what it was about it that I loved so much. I didn't recall it sucking as much as it did. I was crushed. |

And I really can't figure out WTF the guy is trying to say in the article - that somehow there is a "dig" at Apple/Steve Jobs in how this was implemented. But I think the idiot is just making up BS headlines and sensationalizing something stupid. |
