AT&T Raises early term fee for iPhone users
Story here.
I think also falls under the contract change rules that allow you to term your contract without paying any fees. |
That looks to me to be a sign that the iPhone will finally be offered on other carriers.
|
I know someone who can unlock iPhones for use on other carriers. :D
|
I read that the same way, ABG. Hoping hoping hoping that Verizon will get it in June

It is extremely unlikely that VZ is going to get an iPhone or a version of the iPhone before 2012, maybe longer since AT&T is now the sole provider of the data service for the iPad.
|
I have a primitive T-mobile phone, and if that network hooks up with iPhone, I might conceivably get one, though I have worked out so many strategies with my lovely wi-fi iPad, I'm not convinced I need to change anything. I agree with the OP, though. I'll be watching with interest.

Someone I know from AT&T insists they are being told no one else will have the iPhone until 2012 at the very earliest. I say there are only probably a handful of people who really know one way or the other-- and they are sworn to secrecy. |
Maybe one of the people in the know will end up at a bar, get drunk and tell all (with a little bit of cash encouragement).
|
I will believe another carrier will have the iPhone when they have an actual press release stating it is coming out. I'm not holding out any sort of hope until 2012. I really like the iPhone but I'm totally in phone-love with my Android.
I can't wait to see what new technology is coming down the pipes. |
Oh, and someone I know who works for Sprint doesn't know what the fvck is going on...which seems about par for the course. :p

Eric has the Android as well, and he has a lot of fun with it. He was sitting out on the deck listening to the police scanner app earlier this evening. It was funny- there was a call to a local scummy motel to see about a guy who thought he was in California.... |
Which Android does he have? I have the HTC Magic from T-Mobile. The screen is a little small but I'll make do until it's time to upgrade.
|
Eric has the same, but he's looking at getting the Incredible.

And this thread could be retitled "Verizon ends its New Every Two" (and I think it changed its early termination fees too).
Sadly, what kept me from the AT&T iPhone (besides the hatred for AT&T) is the $90 a month plan for basics. It's going to be that much for VZ iPhone too. |
The service will probably be better, but you can't multi-task with CDMA service, so it makes no difference for me. I use my phone constantly and am always doing multiple things with it at the same time. Maybe that will change by the time my AT&T contract is up. Meanwhile, other than at home, I don't find the service terribly problematic - and I'm all over the place all day long. But, service at home would be nice.

Heheh, I'm the same way. My service is pretty much fine everywhere. Except at home, which kinda hasta change.
So, I'm gonna look into switching, but may not end up doing it. I think I'm grandfathered into some cheaper AT&T plan that's not available anymore. Sheesh, my cell bill is plenty high enough already -- if switching to Verizon would cost me even more each month, then I'll stick with spotty cell service at home. |
I already have verizon. But I'm happy with my droid and I don't see any big reason to switch at this point.
|
If the sprint iPhone appears, I'd consider it. But we're really happy with Sprint and the Android phone options are just fine by me. I have no doubt I'd like the iPhone, but I don't doubt I'd like an Android phone. So no real draw for me away from Sprint.
|
The deal maker when we switched to the iPhone (from T-Mobile) was that fact that I COULD get service at home (couldn't on T-Mobile).
The lack of multi-tasking capability on Verizon makes switching doubtful. |
My cell phone service at home was iffy until I switched from Sprint to ATT.
|
I love the Android platform and I am happy with T-Mobile reception. I hate my Android phone (too slow, screen is too small). If T-Mobile doesn't come out with something comparable to the Incredible or X I'm going to have to switch. If I switch it will be to VZ after I find the money tree.

Random iPhone 4 question: Did they eliminate the Percentage # next to the Remaining Battery Life display? Or can you turn that handy feature back on?
|
Rose's Verizon iPhone arrived today. Despite FedEx's best efforts.
