The Wendybeth/Scrooge McSam/Toribear Grand Cali Villa thread! [4pm Saturday]

Hi, everyone! Just heard from Sam, and he will arrive at the DLR on Friday, June 18th and depart the following Monday. (We arrive on the 16th, and leave the 22nd). We are going to be roomies for this trip, as it's Scrooge's fault we got into the DVC and we are making him do penance. (Seriously- my little niece is going to fall in love with him and drive him crazy....). We'd like to break the Villa in with some style, so we are calling on our Swanky friends here at the LoT to help us out. It's a two bedroom with lots of room (and a great kitchen!), so we're thinking either a cocktail party and/or a BBQ. (There is a BBQ area near the pool). Any thoughts or suggestions as to theme and time are welcome- I'm thinking Saturday afternoon, but our schedule is pretty flexible. Looking forward to seeing everyone- I miss you guys!:)

Not Afraid 05-24-2010 10:51 AM

Can I sneak the pugs in again?

June 19? I'll take the day off right now. We don't have APness at the moment though.

wendybeth 05-24-2010 10:57 AM

No problem, Lisa! We haven't even got passes yet- we always get the five day and end up not using at least two of those days, so we're just sort of looking into whatever the best deal is that we can get. We're hoping to get a park view- if we do, word is that you can see the parades and World of Color really well from your balcony. :)

Oh, and of course the puglets are welcome! Someone will have to fill in for Brad to disguise any barking, though.

Scrooge McSam 05-24-2010 11:14 AM

Something's wrong... I bought points in Florida and I haven't set foot in my home resort yet. But this will be my third DVC trip to Anaheim. I'm confused.

LoT Cocktail Party? YESSS Fun fun fun

Lol! It was that "Welcome home, Sam!" that got us. ;)

Ghoulish Delight 05-24-2010 11:29 AM

There's a chance that Father's Day weekend plans will prevent us being there, but those plans have not been made, so we should be able to work something in.

Yaay! We want to see Theo. Oh, and ...uhm..you two, of course.

;)

Cadaverous Pallor 05-24-2010 11:49 AM

June 19th might be good for us, depending on my brother coming into town. Supposedly they won't be here until the 20th, but we'll see. I hope we can make it!

ETA - oh yeah, Father's Day.

innerSpaceman 05-24-2010 12:10 PM

Ok, there. June 19 works for me.

BarTopDancer 05-24-2010 12:11 PM

Actual Father's Day is out for me, but I'm in for the 19th (though I'll be passless :( )!

Gemini Cricket 05-24-2010 12:12 PM

Yay, Sam, wenchybeth and ToriBear! How exciting! Have fun!!!!
:)

katiesue 05-24-2010 12:48 PM

Gah - We'll be on our way back from WDW. :(

Snowflake 05-24-2010 01:59 PM

I've got houseguests :( So I miss you all again.

Maybe I should just travel north sometime.

Scrooge McSam 05-24-2010 02:44 PM

'cuz I can't stick it to GC again...

Brad, I pledge to cruise the House of Blues in your honor.

keith - SuPeR K! 05-24-2010 03:18 PM

I'm deejaying in Phoenix on the 18th so I can likely just head to SoCal on the 19th :) It's a 6 hour drive so I prob wouldn't be there until 5pm or so...

Ghoulish Delight 05-24-2010 03:33 PM

Okay, tentative plan is to have some family over for brunch, leaving us free in the early afternoon-early evening time frame.

madmonkeygirl 05-24-2010 03:38 PM

I hope to be there hopefully with CoasterMatt as well. I so need to just hang out and chill since 45 more days til i leave for New Jersey and Giants Stadium and Bon Jovi 5th row in the PIT :)

wendybeth 05-24-2010 04:04 PM

Sounds like it's Saturday, then! BTD, don't worry about the Park- chances are we'll not be going in that day anyway. Got a birthday party in the morning at Goofy's kitchen, then this little soiree. :-) It will be great to see you all again, and I will miss those who can't make it! (Snow, anytime you wanna come on up, let me know!)

innerSpaceman 05-24-2010 04:19 PM

Sigh ... I wish all you folks were coming to town Just One Month Later. Bah.

wendybeth 05-24-2010 09:52 PM

I know- we thought about July 17th, but this date worked out better for everyone.

innerSpaceman 05-24-2010 10:06 PM

Well, you're gonna miss a heck of a shindig ... but hey, it's gonna get people out to Disneyland twice in two months - and that's not something we've seen for many a year around here.

Either way, it will be beyond swell to see all of you. I'm all smiles about it. :)

Yay! I plan to renew, probably not going to have a choice come July 17th but I can't $wing it just yet.

Okay. I know there are three pages of responses already, and the first response is one of the better Lisa-bombs, and I just don't have the brain cells to scour the thread to see if this infantile response has already been posted by Kevy, so, here I go:

Well now that CM is out of work and i do not work on Saturdays we will both be there :) I need a diversion from Giants Stadium and my trip lol

alphabassettgrrl 05-25-2010 08:26 PM

Weekends are hard for me to get down there but maybe on Friday or Monday while you're here... If you feel like company.

wolfy999 05-25-2010 10:04 PM

They do have a viewing area for World of Color for all the DVC units to use.....just sayin'.....

Oh, Hubby & I will show up whatever day you choose, might take a bit of work to talk the Wolfette into it.....but we'll try to get her to join us also.

Sounds like a blast, thanks for opening up to the LoTters.

I was wondering about that. Since the resort is so small, is that area reservation only (like BLT at WDW) or not?

Not Afraid 05-25-2010 10:21 PM

He, this is Sam and I'd like a WOC reservation for 100 please........

Scrooge McSam 05-25-2010 10:22 PM

TOTALLY :)

Kevy Baby 05-25-2010 10:45 PM

Wait... Tori is coming?!?

I think I am busy that day...

wendybeth 05-25-2010 10:49 PM

Just send Susan, Kevy. They can compare cool hairdos. ;)

(Brat! You'd better be there, mister......)

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 05-25-2010 11:40 PM

We'll do our best once you know time and date!

wendybeth 05-26-2010 12:14 PM

Bornieo, we'll have a meet that Saturday, but you can catch up with us anytime while we're there! If you need my #, just pm me or get it from Kevy, Lisa, etc. Same goes for everyone who might not be able to make the Saturday meet!

Prudence 05-31-2010 01:45 PM

Whee! Visitors! We'll make it on our calendar.

Not Afraid 06-12-2010 09:59 AM

Sooooo, do we have any set plans, times, etc? I suppose things may depend on if the rooms have views of WOC or not. Knowing that quite a few of us don't have passes, we should probably make some sort of plans.

I suppose I should see about block out days. We keep considering getting passes again.

BarTopDancer 06-12-2010 10:29 AM

Saturday is a blockout day.

CoasterMatt 06-12-2010 12:25 PM

What are blockout days? :)

Kevy Baby 06-12-2010 01:19 PM

Days when you take out your blocks

Not Afraid 06-12-2010 02:33 PM

I also will need to get a dog walker to come by if we're going to be out for a while. I have plans to make people! Dog Walkers are hard to come by around here! (j/k)

Scrooge McSam 06-12-2010 02:42 PM

For what it's worth...

I just called the Grand Californian to get the policy on guest access to the WOC viewing area on the roof of the villas.

It just takes a room key to access the space. So guests of a room key holder can be invited. Hotel staff do not monitor access to the facility.

However, any Grand Californian room key card will allow access... it is NOT restricted to DVC villa room key cards.

So any LoTters attending the cocktail party/bbq at the villas would be eligible to get in, but I would expect available space to be a concern.

Not Afraid 06-12-2010 03:25 PM

Not with the Space Nazi, it won't. :D

Prudence 06-12-2010 05:23 PM

I'm definitely interested in seeing if I can actually *see* the show. That would be awesome.

Oh, and the company, too. ;)

Is this a dressy experience? Casual park clothes? Elaborate space alien costumes?

wendybeth 06-12-2010 09:25 PM

We're planning on an informal BBQ, Saturday the 19th- afternoonish, with no real plans afterwards, so we could try to take over the viewing area if everyone is up to it..... :D

No, but I hope to talk to wendybeth today and firm some of that up.

Everyone is being very patient with us and I DO appreciate it.

wendybeth 06-13-2010 12:04 PM

I'll talk to Sam and we'll post a poll- we'll need to know how many people to plan for. :D

BarTopDancer 06-13-2010 12:07 PM

In!

wendybeth 06-13-2010 12:31 PM

Cool! Okay, just spoke to Sam, and we think around 4:00 Saturday afternoon? We'll have a traditional BBQ, so we'll need to know approximately how many people to plan for. I won't post a poll- just indicate here yay or nay, and we'll go from there.

CoasterMatt 06-13-2010 01:00 PM

Yay.

Ghoulish Delight 06-13-2010 01:11 PM

Woohoo!

I mean, yay.

Not Afraid 06-13-2010 01:30 PM

Chris and i are in. I'm thinking the puglets should be a no?

BarTopDancer 06-13-2010 01:42 PM

Shiny!

(yay!)

Kevy Baby 06-13-2010 05:48 PM

We cancelled other plan to be there, so we are definitely in

wolfy999 06-13-2010 07:29 PM

We are in, just waiting for a time and place.

innerSpaceman 06-13-2010 09:27 PM

Most Definitely In, baby. :iSm:

Prudence 06-13-2010 10:01 PM

We're in. Just tell us when to be there and what to bring.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 06-13-2010 10:38 PM

Maybe depending on work schedule!

Disneyphile 06-13-2010 11:45 PM

Ken and I can't make it on Saturday, but would love to come see you all another day/time, even to just hang out at the parks. Would it be best to call or text you sometime on Sunday, or one of the weekday evenings to find out where you are? :)

wendybeth 06-14-2010 12:42 AM

Anytime would be great, Dp- we really want to see you guys again! :)

JWBear 06-14-2010 12:52 PM

Bill and I are in!

Morrigoon 06-14-2010 07:30 PM

Aw poop. It's Gretchen's birthday, so I'm committed to doing something with her that evening after I get off work. BBQ would have been fun.

Hey, you look pretty cute with long hair, Brad!!! :)

Morrigoon 06-14-2010 08:37 PM

Dude... yeah. Hot, Brad!

wendybeth 06-15-2010 08:29 PM

Well, one day left to go.......Eric won't be able to come- he's come down with a bug and feels like crap. That, and Boris is getting worse, so Eric feels like he probably will need to take him in for that final vet visit, and he didn't want to leave Trudy with a sick kitty on her hands. :( If anyone hasn't renewed their AP's, I will have an extra 5 day pass that we bought for $184- I can sell it at a substantial discount, and I believe you can apply the full purchase price to renewing. PM me if your are interested. Come hell or high water, sick kitties and hubbies, we will see you tomorrow!

BarTopDancer 06-15-2010 09:16 PM

Looking forward to Saturday!

And I PMed you about that ticket.

€uroMeinke 06-15-2010 09:38 PM

wendybeth 06-15-2010 10:04 PM

Thanks, Chris- with the month we've had, it's just icing on the crap cake. Looking forward to a good Swanking- that's just what we need right now!:D

Yes... 4pm.

innerSpaceman 06-16-2010 07:39 AM

And do we just wander around the Grand Cal looking for swankers??

wolfy999 06-16-2010 09:21 AM

I'll meet up with you Steve and we can wander together.....

Scrooge McSam 06-16-2010 09:30 AM

Well, not to answer for the boss-lady, but here's what we have so far.

4pm is the unofficial start time. We can't provide a room number because we don't have one yet. Wendy is in transit today. As soon as we have a room number, I imagine everyone who's expressed interest in attending will get a PM or text message

We plan to serve eats between 5 and 5:30, so that gives everybody plenty of time to arrive and hook up with the rest of the group.

After that, it's up to you. Swim, drink, head into the parks, or visit in the villas!

WOC first showing is at 9PM and there'll be a few of us up on the Paradise Terrace (top of the GC Villas) for that. I understand Space Nazi will be in full effect. I once saw that woman save an acre of prime fireworks viewing area with nothing but a blanket and a threatening glare.

wolfy999 06-16-2010 10:03 AM

Thank you Sam!

I have to take Wolfette to a meeting at 3PM then drop her off at the movies. Hubby and I will show up after all that is done. I do have Wendy's number if I need to find out where you guys are at.

Thanks again Sam, this will save Steve and I a whole lot of wandering time.....

innerSpaceman 06-16-2010 10:40 AM

Let's see Space Nazi try to save any more than a blanket's worth with me around!

+2 from Bakersfield.

Not Afraid 06-16-2010 12:55 PM

Oh, and I'll bring a salad. I think everyone should bring food and drink.

Snowflake 06-16-2010 01:02 PM

Sorry about Eric and Boris WB and sorry I miss you guys again, this year.

Have a great visit, have fun and post pictures!

mousepod 06-16-2010 01:16 PM

I'll be there at some point. What time and with who will be determined by Friday... Can't wait to see you guys!

Gn2Dlnd 06-16-2010 01:23 PM

Sick kitty news is always sad. Sick Eric news doesn't sound fun either.

Here's my deal. I may be doing (actual paid) voiceover work for a Chinese to English dub of a kung-fu movie on Saturday! I haven't gotten a schedule yet. Otherwise, I'd loooove to come to your swank-b-que. I shall bring meats if needed, and krispy cheese.

I'll know when the studio gods let me know.

Mousey Girl 06-16-2010 01:31 PM

Boy & I can do chips & dips.

wolfy999 06-16-2010 01:36 PM

Oh good.....cookies?

Speaking of cookies....should we all maybe bring something (those who can of course)? Might make it a bit easier on our hostess.

Added: I really should read all the newest posts first. I'll bring some kind of salad, maybe some coleslaw or potato salad.

Gemini Cricket 06-16-2010 02:32 PM

Someone should make brownies.
Just sayin'.

Scrooge McSam 06-16-2010 02:59 PM

Awww, you guys are so thoughtful!

If you want to bring something, feel free. It will be most appreciated. However, if that's not convenient for you for whatever reason, please don't let that keep you from coming.

Just post what you want to bring and I'll try to keep track and post the list as it evolves.

Wendy and I will go shopping Saturday morning to fill out the menu and to procure suitable frames for the display of all the pictures of Gemini Cricket I printed out today at work.

I don't know about the rates at the Mickey and Friends structure... figured you guys would.

If you park at the Grand Cal lot, it's $6 per hour... period.

If you park at DTD lot, you get 3 hours complimentary parking, after that it's $6 per hour. If you see a movie or stop off for a late dinner in DTD, you get an additional 2 hours complimentary parking.

Hope this helps

Gemini Cricket 06-16-2010 06:04 PM

$6 per hour!
Sheesh!

wolfy999 06-16-2010 06:35 PM

Structure is $14.00 I believe.

You didn't misread....I mistyped. Actually she was going to the movies, but now wants to join us if she can talk her friend into going along too. Since the friend practically lives at our house on the weekends I've included both of them. We are talking teenagers here, so things could change on a regular basis. I'll still bring two salads either way.

Mousey Girl 06-16-2010 06:54 PM

If I get ambitious maybe some ginger/molasses cookies?

Shoud I bring The Boy's swimsuit?

See. Ho ho! I skinned my knees on many a' ride at the 50th State Fair and its sister fair The Farm Fair. The Farm Fair is just as exciting except it has cows. The Petting Zoo at the 50th State Fair is not so fun either... the area is just filled with cats and dogs. Not very exciting.

Yeah... that's kinda the way I felt when I couldn't make it out for the "Bear and Stoat charm the whole of southern California" trip.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 06-16-2010 07:37 PM

Sadly I have to work in the am til about 6pm but might try to spin down there. So a "Possible bornieo Plus 1" :)

...Dude, we didn't charm it, we owned it !!! (in fact we could probably buy it right now).

Don't fret none, we'll get back there when your economy is stable, your health system is fixed, and Michael Moore and Morgan Spurlock says all is OK... ;)

Hugs from The Stoat.

Oh Tay Den

I was just talking to Wendy and we're figuring everyone who's planning to attend the GCV shindig has probably spoken up by now. If any of you want to bring goodies and haven't spoken up yet, just say so and we'll cross that off our Saturday shopping list.

We were getting a little worried the crowd would grow beyond our ability to handle it, but with folks spread out between the villa, the pool (bring those swimsuits!) and the bbq area we're thinking everybody should have enough room to have a good time without being overly cramped.

Wendy wanted me to be sure to let everyone know that if you want to get together during the next few days, you should drop her a PM. I think she'll probably be online later tonight after they get dinner sorted out. Her group will be in town until Wednesday of next week.

I'll be there Friday through Sunday and the same goes for me. If you wanna meet up, let me know.

I can't wait to see you all and I know Wendy feels the same.

See you on Saturday!

Ghoulish Delight 06-16-2010 09:27 PM

Depending on how hungry my family is that morning, we might unload some brunch leftovers. Possibly things like fruit salad, bagels. I don't think leftover fritata will travel so well.

alphabassettgrrl 06-16-2010 09:49 PM

I'm gonna try to get down for at least part of the evening. Depends how the hound does tomorrow, and kitty status.

wendybeth 06-16-2010 10:58 PM

Wow! Lots of people! This will be fun, but we will have to be careful about not getting too large a congregation in one area. Like Sam said, we'll have swimming (in any of the hotel pools, not just the villa's). This is such a cool place- best investment we ever made- ty, Sam! So glad to be here finally, and so very much looking forward to seeing you guys! Bobbi says hi, and so does ToriBear. :-)

ZOMG HORSE!!!1

Haha I tweeted that. As we approached the teepees with the real horse next to them everyone was all excited- IT'S REAL! So amusing.

Prudence 06-17-2010 12:15 PM

We will definitely bring something, but I have no idea what. I'm toying with the idea of a Persian rice dish of some kind, but I might change my mind between now and Saturday.

alphabassettgrrl 06-17-2010 06:58 PM

D'oh - brainfart. I have work on Saturday.

I can come for a bit on Monday or Tuesday, though. If you feel like company on either day for a few hours. :)

wendybeth 06-17-2010 09:25 PM

:) We are watching WOC from our balcony- soooooo awesome!!!!!!!!! It wasn't supposed to be running tonight, but it is! You guys are going to love this! Can't wait to see you all- and Sam arrives tomorrow! Major happy girl tonight.

Scrooge McSam 06-18-2010 02:02 AM

How does one male a cookie? Add little doughy penises?

Ghoulish Delight 06-18-2010 02:30 PM

More importantly, how does one prepare a cookie such that it's ready to be maled.

innerSpaceman 06-18-2010 02:47 PM

Hahaha, little doughy male cookies with tiny little penises reminds me of the first Ju Koon when Disneyphile made doughephigies of Dusty Traveler to throw in the ocean and be rid of forever!!!!

Gemini Cricket 06-18-2010 03:43 PM

Someone should make brownies.
Just sayin'.

Kevy Baby 06-18-2010 04:00 PM

I don't know why no one has mentioned this yet, but I think we should make some brownies!

innerSpaceman 06-18-2010 04:11 PM

Well, we might be able to make the brownies at the Villa, but it would probably be better to make them at home and bring them.

Not Afraid 06-18-2010 07:19 PM

Ummmm, Susan is making brownies? Can she make a batch that I can eat?

Mousey Girl 06-19-2010 02:49 AM

The cookies are maDe. Damn, talk about a typo.

Scrooge McSam 06-19-2010 07:29 AM

Yikes... I got the "vacation head" last night obviously and did not put the word out on location.

Plan to meet at the Grand Cal Villas BBQ area at 4PM or shortly thereafter. You do not need a room key to access the BBQ area.

From the Grand Cal lobby, take a right past the Guest Services desk out the glass doors into the veranda. Go past the pool and into the glass doors of the villas building. Go past the elevators and take a right. Look for the glass doors to the BBQ patio on your left. You'll see picnic tables, aluminum bbq grills and the fence separating the villas from California Adventure park.

Ask the Guest Services desk if you have any trouble with these directions.

Can't wait to see you all!!!

Gn2Dlnd 06-19-2010 10:10 AM

I'm so glad there are going to be brownies!

In other news, I'm able to be there! Yay! Soooo, ThinKrisps and steak? Hamburger? Hot dogs? Utensils? Sody pop? What should I bring?

wendybeth 06-19-2010 11:30 AM

Yaayy! It will be good to see you, Gn2! I'd love to try your ThinKrisps- never had any before! Bobs and Sam are shopping right now. Cya all soon!

wolfy999 06-19-2010 11:54 AM

JWBear 06-19-2010 09:44 PM

Quelle Soiré! What a lovely party.

It was wonderful seeing everyone again. Sorry we couldn't stay longer.

innerSpaceman 06-20-2010 02:02 AM

TeeHee, just got home. 2am. It was so swell seeing everyone, especially the much-loved out-of-town guests.

I love them all so much more for investing in the Vacation Club, which means we're practically guaranteed a fun-filled, love-fest visit at least every couple of years or so ... and sometimes maybe more often than that. Yay!

Oh, and Grand Cal version 2.0 is a WIN.

Mousey Girl 06-20-2010 03:39 AM

Boy & I are home. It took us a tad more than 2 hours, between having to keep an eye on my car, watching my spped, and getting gas in Castaic.

It was a great gathering!

I am going to go crash now. Night night (or good morning?)

Scrooge McSam 06-20-2010 07:21 AM

Did everyone get enough brownies?? I'm just asking. :)

wolfy999 06-20-2010 07:55 AM

A great big THANK YOU to our host and hostesses!

Had a wonderful evening...BBQ, WoC, friends, family and Disneyland! Who could ask for more?

BarTopDancer 06-20-2010 10:19 AM

Thank you thank you thank you to Wendy, Sam and Bobbi!

So much fun!

Kevy Baby 06-20-2010 10:31 AM

Well... sorry we ended up bailing on this. Both of us ended up needing to stay home and convalesce.

Morrigoon 06-20-2010 10:32 AM

That was so much fun - thanks guys!

CoasterMatt 06-20-2010 10:44 AM

It was a ton of fun. But now I really wanna see the Golden Zephyr burst into flames...

wendybeth 06-20-2010 10:58 AM

Lol, Matt!!!!! Great fun yesterday- thank you all for coming, and for all the goodies! We have soooo much food- I had a bagel for breakfast that was just wonderful (thanks GD and CP!) and the kids are having bbq for lunch our remaining two days here...... It was especially wonderful to meet and snuggle little Theo- what an absolute cutie, and such a good boy! Lucky parents, lucky Theo. Brad made an appearance as well- will post those pics as soon as I figure out how to from my cell- lol. Thanks, and love you all!

BarTopDancer 06-20-2010 11:08 AM

OMG Matt that is amazing!

Not Afraid 06-20-2010 11:24 AM

Good morning! I went to sleep about 3:30 and was up by 8:30. My crystal ball tells me there may be a nap in my future.

The whole evening was an absolute blast! It was so great to see everyone - both nearby folks and the far flung. It's been a while since I've had a good, old fashioned, Disneyland get together. I'm just happy we'll have another one in a month!

Oh, and Brad - you looked GOOD, man!

CoasterMatt 06-20-2010 11:51 AM

Who are these people? :D

Not Afraid 06-20-2010 12:04 PM

That's a GREAT pic, Matt!

madmonkeygirl 06-20-2010 04:19 PM

Had a blast it was great hanging out with friends and food and drinks. Seeing WoC from the top balcony was a blast now it really makes me want to see it inside DCA from ground level. Sorry we didn't stay longer but Disneyland did call for the last 2 operating hours.

Ty for including Matt and myself. I am so happy you guys have the Villa and know that more get togethers are in the future. I so needed yesterday.

We arrived home at 2am but slept in til 11am at least i did. :) Haven't done much today at all but hey it's a Sunday. Day of rest, right?

Only 18 more days til i leave for Bon Jovi and NEW JERSEY and Giants stadium :)

Prudence 06-20-2010 05:37 PM

We had a most excellent time! Our splendid hosts provided an amazing venue for our BBQ and WoC pleasure. We finished up the evening with a Maynard-hosted Tiki Room (complete with Tiki Room Protection Helmets) and a ride on Pirates, which was kind of awesome. Those were some suite digs, hardeehar, in those Villas. I really want to move in!

madmonkeygirl 06-20-2010 07:57 PM

I can't say enough thank you's for inviting us last night. :) I had the BEST time. We ended up going back into the park for the last 2 operating hours riding Matterhorn twice, Pinocchio, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom all before park closing. :)

Do i really have to go back to work tomorrow? I want more fun.

Mousey Girl 06-20-2010 09:32 PM

I'd send him some but I think Wendy would hurt me. I'm trying to stay out of them and succeeding... So far.

Tomorrow, however, is a new day. ;)

Yes, and I am working on the Krisps as I write. I'm totally moosing out on this trip, but I don't care. Good stuff!!!!!! (Bless you, Gn2). It's probably a good thing these aren't available in our area- they're just about the perfect food.

We had a great day in DL- we got to ride in the very front with the driver on the monorail, rode quite a few rides with minimal wait, then FP'd them and did it again. Finally, I get a call from Cindy, telling me to await a text that might confirm a ressie for the reserved seating at the Main Street train station for the fireworks. Minutes later, seating confirmed and we ran all the way to the station from our room. Bless you, Cindy- that was soooo cool, especially since my ankle was still acting up. Wonderful finale to a great day. :)

Sam leaves tomorrow, and my cheese is sad. Still, I am so grateful to have had him here these past few days that I can't complain- and we will definitly be travel buddies again in the future, hopefully at his home resort of WDW. (He probably should go there sometime......lol). Thanks again to all who came to the BBQ, and KB, Susan, and anyone who couldn;t make it- you were missed!!! Tomorrow is our last full day, so if anyone is up to meeting just give me a call or text.

Mousey Girl 06-21-2010 07:36 AM

Wendy, did you ever hear anything else about our hallway problem?

Cadaverous Pallor 06-21-2010 10:43 AM

Sorry about the late post - BUSY weekend.

We had a great time at the bbq!. So strange to be on the backside of Mullholland Madness. Not since the Gallery closed has there been an AP hangout quite as elite as the secret bbq area! All our parties will be there from now on, regardless of whether anyone is staying at the Villas. A potluck, on resort property? What a concept!

It was awesome seeing everyone. If I may say so, Theo performed perfectly, both as adorable social butterfly and dead-to-the-World(-of-Color) asleep in his stroller. We were extremely glad of the opportunity to see WoC and I dug it. Now if only Gn2 could stop talking during the show... :p

Many thanks to the awesome hosts and the teens who put up with all the annoying old people.

It was so awesome to see you all! :) Thanks for having us over Wendy, Sam, and crew!!! The molasses cookies were so good! WoC Gay Club Remix dance party was awesome! Theo is adorable and has killer eyes! Tori's hair color is rad! Sex Playground was the most amusing! So much good stuff all at once :)

Mousey Girl 06-21-2010 01:51 PM

To quote one of the teens, "You guys are ALL silly!!"

innerSpaceman 06-21-2010 02:26 PM

I talked to Wendy today... she said it's beyond packed and they're having trouble getting fastpasss :(

innerSpaceman 06-21-2010 05:29 PM

Yeah, I felt so bad when I learned that today and tomorrow (and next Monday and Tuesday) are expected to be the most crowded days of summer, as the low-rent passholders get one in before they are blocked out for the duration. I know Wendy and crew really didn't hit the parks over the weekend - saving that for, um, today. Yikes.

Lot friends,

Thank you thank you thank you!

Now that I'm safely ensconced back in Redneckville, I can put down a few thoughts without having to navigate that damnable iPhone keyboard.

I so appreciate each of you taking the time to make this trip into the land of sun and palms just that much more special.

To those I've met before - I swear it felt like a family reunion.

And to those I was privileged to meet this go around - Morigoon, CoasterMatt, madmonkeygirl, Gn2Dnld, TheBoy, Theo (what an angel!), WolfyHusband (Ha! We chatted for half an hour and I never even asked the man's name. Put 2 Disney geeks together and all formalities go right out the window it seems) - I hope to see you all again next time.

Morigoon - Many thanks for your thoughtfulness. So seldom does one get to feel like a real VIP. I appreciate your looking out for us like you did.

I'm left to wonder why there was no ceremonial en masse trouser drop. I guess that's just a New Year thang. I do seem to remember at least one pair of trousers dropping though

Speaking of which, I know "Flat Brad" had a good time. The boy was all wrinkled and sweaty the next morning.

Wendy - You my gurl!

Tori - Do try not to beat up too bad on the boys, ya hear?

Bobs - It's a twin thing ;)

Nick - Has anybody seen Nick?

Much love,

Sam

Wow- what a lot of fun, and thank you everyone for contributing to such a great time! Last night we met up with Omar, Kerry (finally got to meet her- yaay!) and some very cool friends of Omar's. We closed the park, Tori got DRENCHED on Splash, and I finally went on the Nemo ride- not a fan. (too claustrophobic for me). Oh, and for the first time ever- we rode Dumbo. Never had the patience before to stand in that line, but it is a cute ride and since it was a walk on we went for it. Just got home a few minutes ago, and since I have to work in the AM the 'Flat Brad' thread will have to be started tomorrow.

Mousey Girl 06-23-2010 09:53 AM

did my favorite teenage girl have a good b-day?

alphabassettgrrl 06-23-2010 10:20 AM

Sounds like you had a successful evening! Sorry I couldn't stay for the drenching, but I'm so glad I finally got to meet you and Tori! Yay!!!!

wendybeth 06-23-2010 10:48 AM

Same to you, Kerry! MG- Tori had an okay morning (we had a b-day lunch at the Rainforest), but the rest of the day was spent traveling. We arrived for our 4:55 flight on Southwest, only to be told it wouldn't take off until 6:15. Our connection in Oakland was due to leave 15 minutes before we arrived, but they said they'd hold it. (I didn't believe them). Than, they said our luggage would not be there until the next day, which is exactly what happened the last and only time I ever flew with them. Somehow, it did make it there, but it will be a long time (if ever) before I fly with them again. Nice employees, but the whole boarding mess and back to back flight snafus has turned me off. Tori was a tired bear by the time we got home, and her ears hurt from the flight. (Major pain when landing).:(

I know I am.

And I apologize to the visiting clan for bailing at the last moment. Susan was having some bad post-surgery pain due to an asthma attack (the coughing strained the surgery stuff - no permanent damage, just lots of pain). And I was having a bad day with the vertigo (to the point where I couldn't drive that day).

It sounds like it was a lot of fun and we are really bummed we didn't get to see the visitors.

Also, I was looking forward to pestering Tori

No worries. the Boy took care of that for you.

The random kid with a lightsaber did a good job of pestering too.

Poor Tori. I think that level of snafu would make all of you horridly cranky, and ear pain on top of it???? I'm glad you got home safely in the end.

I hate Southwest at times for flying. They can be good but when you have a layover it's kind of tough (including having your luggage make it onto the plane). That's why if i do take Southwest it is a direct flight or else make sure i get a nice big over an hour and a half layover. Usually my problems are either flying them to or from Vegas. I'm usually delayed either going (this time in March i was when all i wanted to do was get there) or else like last time delayed on the way back lol...

Btw i ended up sicker than sick sore throat and fever. I took today off from work. Boss didn't like it but with my upcoming trip in 2 weeks i had to take the day off they can deal without me for a day even with a big corporate visit lol i so needed today to play hookey :)

Yes. Yes he did. Lol. And, yes, Matt, random kid with a lightsaber did do a job at picking on me. As well as a little girl picking on me too. Oy.

Btw, I finished the book on the plane, and Mom wants to read it real quick before I ship it back to Nick.

Who WAS random kid with the lightsaber?

Not Afraid 06-25-2010 09:19 AM

Just some random kid with a light saber who escaped from GlowFest. Probably on drugs, too.
