Wow.

I thought American Idol is the biggest talent show around but apparently not.
At it's best Idol averaged 30 Million viewers. That's small potatoes next to the 125 Million that watch the:

The Eurovision Song Contest.

The 2010 votes are in and the winner is: Lena from Germany singing Satellite
She painted her toenails for you!

I find it interesting that 25 of the 45 past winning songs were sung in English.

Although lots of nonsense words.

Michael Ball was a Eurovision Song Contest winner. Became a pop and theatrical sensation.

Not to mention Abba

Did they win it for Waterloo, Dancing Queen, Mama Mia, or, um, don't make me name them all;)

I knew that ABBA rose to fame after winning some contest.... I never put it together with Eurovision contest.

Which of course made me wonder, how many other super groups/singers came from the contest. So I looked up all the winners.

Out of all the winners since 1956 I'd only heard of three: Abba, Katrina and the Waves and Céline Dion. It should have been at least four, how Lordi never reached super star household name status I'll never know. Rock on dudes!

I was familiar with those, as well as Lulu and Bucks Fizz.
