Bollywood dancing at DCA

I thought this might be of interest to the Bollywood fans here.

World-Class Bollywood Dance Choreographer presents Bollywood Extravaganza at Glowfest, Disney California Adventure Park, June 11 – July 5

Yogen Bhagat, the Artistic and Creative Director of his Los Angeles based Bollywood Step Dance company, and Rasha Goel, the Manager and his dance partner will set yet another precedent by participating in Disney’s Glowfest program, presenting a Bollywood Show every night at 6.30 and 7.30 at the Sunshine Plaza from June 11 to July 5th. It is the first time that Bollywood dancing is being featured at Disney theme parks. After the performances, the dancers will mingle with the audience.
More here.

Also, Glowfest is that night time dance party thing going on at Hollywood Backlot as part of Summer Nightastic.

Awesome!

I heard about this. Must see. Haha :)

Prudence 06-17-2010 12:10 PM

I'll bet I get a better view for this!

€uroMeinke 06-17-2010 06:45 PM

Damn - Disney may have just stumbled upon something to lure me back into the parks

Cynthia 06-18-2010 04:04 PM

I am so there, I think we still have a couple of days we can get into the parks before summer blackout occurs

Chernabog 06-19-2010 12:47 AM

We were at glowfest tonight and it was actually sort of fun lol

keith - SuPeR K! 06-21-2010 01:06 PM

iSm and I caught the end of the Bollywood performance the other night and were very amused!

Kevy Baby 06-21-2010 01:28 PM

Amused as "amused at how craptacular it is" or "amused in how good this is"

innerSpaceman 06-21-2010 02:27 PM

We couldn't get a good feel for the performance in the last 60 seconds we witnessed, but I was digging it - - as was the huge crowd - that quickly dissipated when the next act proved meh.

keith - SuPeR K! 06-21-2010 05:09 PM

As iSm said, there was a good sized crowd really enjoying it as we caught the tail end. The first number of the next act went over well, but the second number was a fail pretend drummer act which quickly dissipated the large crowd.

We're going to see it next Tuesday.

innerSpaceman 06-22-2010 07:19 AM

Um, just to warn you. Today and next Monday and Tuesday are expected to be the most crowded days of Summer. Next Tuesday in particular is The Last Day for Low Rent APs before they are blocked out till September. Traditionally, NOT a day you want to be anywhere near the Resort.

Not Afraid 06-22-2010 07:28 AM

We're pretty much going JUST to see Bollywood Dance and buy a So Cal AP. We're not going until after work, so hopefully the parks won't be closed due to capacity.

The Bollywood thing really is a big draw...since after that you'll be blocked until September!

innerSpaceman 06-22-2010 10:37 AM

And you might just be the only ones today buying an AP that will only be good for this day before being blocked for over two months. In any event, we look forward to the most authoritative review possible on DCA Bollywood. ;)

But, we're buying a day ticket in the Birthday then will apply that to a Deluxe pass. Our madness has a method.

There have been reports of a return of the 4-day pass at Costco that comes with a $50 gift card in the SoCal area. Not sure if that is helpful to you or not. You could use the $50 to upgrade to a Deluxe or Premium AP.

Not Afraid 06-22-2010 01:36 PM

WB and Family were kind enough to gift us their 5 day passes with an unused day(s) on them. So, we've got a leg up there.

Alex 06-22-2010 01:41 PM

Gasp! That's against the rules, you rule breaker!

I'm going to call APD so they'll be on the lookout for you and deport you immediately to Belize.

Not Afraid 06-22-2010 02:08 PM

I've always wanted to go to Belize.

~MS~ 06-22-2010 03:44 PM

A word to the wise, anyone thinking that Costco deal is awesome, yeah not so much if you're planning to upgrade, the ticket only has an upgrade value of $151...not $199 the gate price for a 4 day hopper so for $199 you get the 4 day ticket with a long expiration and the $50 gift card but if you upgrade to a pass the $50 gift card isn't 'free' or a bonus any more.

It used to be awesome when they sold the Deluxe AP at Costco. You paid the full price for the Deluxe pass, but you got the same $50.00 card, which you could apply towards adding parking or upgrading to Premium. THAT was the deal!

Alas, no more :(

Cynthia 06-23-2010 05:55 PM

We watched most of it, part at 6:30 and part at 7:30, there were a few very good dancers, lots of "bits" from favorite Bollywood movies and one blond who shall we say lacked talent?

Really? Well, I guess Brittney needs the work.

CoasterMatt 06-23-2010 06:51 PM

Next Tuesday would be an awesome day for me to go around Disneyland tossing "hats" and other "souvenirs" in key places.
