2005 travel plans?
What, if any, are your travel plans for 2005?
We're planning a South Pacific getaway in the middle of the year ~ probably Rarotonga. Then maybe, just maybe, a quick week in DL to catch up with a friend who'll be passing through that way in November...nothing's final yet, but my fingers are crossed:) Add to that a bit of cross-country travel here in NZ & it's shaping up to be a pretty good year. |
WDW in May. Disneyland in late Dec 2005 or early Jan 2006. And now taking suggestions on relatively inexpensive jaunts for August.
|
We're moving to Boston in July. Ralphie has a job lined up at Harvard.
We're planning a trip to Hawai'i in June, then back to LA and then a cross country trip (DL, Vegas, Grand Canyon, some red states, then DC, NY) to Massachusetts. I was thinking detour to WDW, but it's too dang hot in July/Aug. :) |
Alaskan cruise, probably in late August, and maybe a trip to either WDW or DLP this fall. Oh, and Cleveland this spring- to visit Eric's sis.
|
We're about to shove most of our travel into the next 3 weeks. Seattle this weekend for my great aunt's 100th, San Diego the next weekend for my best man's birthday, and some tentative plans for a weekend in a cabin at Lake Arrowhead (assuming we can get there with all the snow!).
After that, work is mumbling about sending me to a conference in San Fran in April. If so, I'll extend my stay through the weekend that follows and have CP fly up to join me. Might as well take advantage of my free plane ticket, eh? |
I really wanted to go to Florence this year, but not with the dollar the way it is.
I think a Vegas trip might be in order. |
So far, I have no plans, and for that, I am glad.
|
My travel plans for 2005
March- Disneyland for MA. April 14 & 15- Las Vegas May 5 2005- Disneyland's 50th b-day kick off May 23-28- Disneyland Paris July 17th- Disneyland's real B-day! So far that's it!! (I think) |
I just realized that we have no travel plans for 2005. I'd better start dreaming up some.
|
Up for another Halloween at DLP?

So far it's looking like 2 trips to Vegas and maybe a cruise and a trip to WDW.
|
DL-May 5th
DL-July 17th those are the only two I have planned so far. But we are planning for WDW in 2006. Belleh, where do you have a room for the 17th? We, and a few others, booked Park Inn, a suite. I'm going sans kids again, let me know if you want to carpool :D |

I have GOT to take a trip sans kids again down there.....perhaps if I'm a good little substitute teacher and make some moolah this year, I can swing it. I earned ZERO dollars in 2004! Go me!
Can I crash at someone's pad on Harbor Blvd. in May or July?? I swear I'll buy lots of drinks and I'm getting really good at shaking apple martinis.... :o Pweeezzzz??? In December, we're definitely doing Disney and it looks like my mom and her husband are coming with, which will kind of be annoying. Oh well. We're thinking of staying on-property, and kicking around the idea of WDW instead of Disneyland....they are participating in the Homecoming stuff and the deals I've seen so far are very very tempting. I'm just not a fan of WDW, but Courtney is dying DYING to go there. No matter what, though, we'll be FLYING. No chance of hanging around in Redding again. Sheesh. Between now and then, we have five snow weekends planned, starting with THIS weekend. Can't wait!! Now that Chloe is old enough to stand the cold for more than 10 minutes we can go play at Mt. Hood for a day at a time. We have a long weekend booked in February at Mt. Bachelor, too. Can not wait for that one. |
Um. Oops.
|
San Francisco in the near future (my day with my dad).
Palm Springs or Carlsbad with the family toward the end of February. Las Vegas possibly in April (please please please please I am hoping for this more than you know!) WDW, maybe, not sure when. Denver in December. Nephy, wanna do an Ocean Journey or a zoo meet with the kids? I miss OJ and I can't wait to see the new entrance at the Denver Zoo. |

Sure, that would be great!! I hate driving by myself. Thanks. I am staying at the Howard Johnson. How many days are u gonna be down there? |
So far a trip to DL July 15th-19th and of course first week in Oct. Maybe trips include: Las Vegas in April and DL in May
|

Japan - first part of February
Lake Tahoe - as much a possible DL - March, with my sis. Her first time at DL with without kids in 12 years. New Orleans - Looks like April Las Vegas - May Hawaii - 2 weeks in August I need to plan a Grand Canyon trip too. |

(((((Wendybeth))))) Thanks...I tried to say "hello" to you in a different post/thread, but it got eaten up in the lag time!
Hey, Ladies! I love all your avatar pictures -- you all look soooo HOT! So hot, it's like sizzling man, dig? |
A friend of mine will be spending a few months in Australia/New Zealand this year....and if I actually get my act together and save up some money, I'll be visting her while she's there. It's all very tenative right now though.
|
I'm leaving for NZ in a few weeks to see my sister, BIL and nephew. I'm very much looking forward to it. No definite plans beyond visiting them in Christchurch, although I'd really like to try bungy jumping. :)
|
Right now we just have a trip to Rocky Point, Mexico the last week in February. Staying right on the beach...I'll have to get myself uncool white self to the tanning salon!
I DID have a girls only trip to Vegas planned for the end of the month..but wouldn't you know it...Hubbie's work scheduled a conference for him that same weekend...So of course..guess who suffers? Other than that..we have nothing planned...I want a DL trip sometime this summer...probably a little trip up to the Grand Canyon when the weather gets nice... Maybe something Carribbean for Christmas... |
Well so far my year looks like this:
April 15-22 Las Vegas April 22-27 Montreal Oct 28-Nov 2 San Diego Nov 2-10? Anaheim and vicinity I know my hubby has a few more business trips planned but I'm unsure if I get to go! :( |
Ooooh! Montreal! That's on the top 10 list for me.
(Hi Jill!!!!!) |
Cirquelover! You made it- yeah!!!
I'd love to go to Montreal as well- the frenchies on Dad's side are from there. (Mondo frenchness in my family). |
MerryPrankster, as in Mary Prankster? Because her, I love...

I got nothing planned but DL! I have a free trip to Vegas that I need to use. That's looking like maybe June. I have a friend there that's having a baby close to then. It would be fun to be there when it happens. I also have a free stay at place of my choosing, but that has no date yet. Maybe a San Fran/wine tasting trip in August. Never can tell.
|
Montreal is a beautiful city! We seem to go there for my other passion, Cirque du Soleil. Whenever they start a new show we end up there!!
We weren't going to go this year but they are having a Cirque convention and some friends convinced us we had to join in the fun! We are taking over a Marriott in Old town, it should be a blast! When we went a couple years ago it was perfect. The weather was beautiful for April and they opened up a lot of the street cafes, but by the time we left it was snowing. It was so much fun to walk in Old Montreal by the river with it snowing on our heads and yet it wasn't freezing! My husband is being sent to Vegas again and this time I get to go! Woohoo! Maybe if I'm really lucky I can see the new show in Vegas and the new show in Montreal! |

I didn't realize you were a big fan too, that's groovy! Sorry trying to be a hip cat for a moment!
I've never been to the open house but we had a private tour of the facilities. We keep saying we need to make it up there for the open house too as they have special stuff going on. |
So far my travel plans for 2005 is just business:
February - Chicago March (tentative) - Chicago May - Chicago September - Chicago I love the city, but I think we'll have to find some other place to explore this year. |
Hey, you do know that there is an American Girl store there, don't you? Tori is bugging me to take her there- they have a restaurant and everything!
|
Yes! It is right down the street from our hotel. There are always scary line of scary mothers and daughters waiting to set foot in that scary place. Scary.
But, I'd go there with or for Tori. ;) |

Hey €uroMeinke
I was wondering if you were planning on going back to Chicago this year? ;) Sorry couldn't resist. |
Hey NA- any chance you might accompany your swankenstein in May? We are thinking of going to (choke) Cleveland around then, and we could always time it so we have a night or two in Chicago. Seriously- even though I protest, we all know the kid's gonna win. Every frikken plan going to Cleveland has to go through Chicago, might as well stop there for a bit....
|
If I'm not working, I will be in Chicago every change I get! I ADORE that city. So, maybe, yes! I'd even let you do tequila shots while you give me your cash and your daughter and we go to that scary place.
Ewwwwww. Can I set this post to self distruct after 2 weeks? |
No chance, NA. Tori just saw your post, and she has a memory that won't quit. And you know how she is about planning.....
|
Ooooooo boyyyyyy! ;)
|
I know some swanky places in Chicago, but Tequila isn't the drink of choice here. We could visit the Coq d'Or for an Executive Martini?
|
Oohhh- tres swanky!
|
I am going to Hawaii at the end of the month. All I'm paying for is my plane ticket! :)
|
Hawaii sounds nice and warm at the moment!
Have a great time!! |

We're thinking of checking out this place on Saturday. Looks swakny, and has a promising description of Saturday's music choice. But again, that depends on our car access. We could always do the taxi thing, too, but dont' know if we want to spring for that. I believe that's the Union district. Does parking there on a Saturday night suck as much as I expect it does? Edit: Wait, looking at the map, I actually know the area pretty well. It's just north of Pioneer Square. Excellent, I can make my way around there. |
Ooooh! You MUST go check this place out! It looks like a place Jason Bently would hang. ;)
I also LOVE their tag:
|

Redmond is my home town, you dig? Just down the street from the evil empire. There was a great Italian place in Redmond but it changed hands and it's not as great any more. There's a cool little teahouse down town that has a great house blend. Not exactly swanky, but groovy nonetheless. |
Oooh! Is the "Pink Door" (I think that's the name) still around? Yum.
Oh, and cam you guys pick me up some Earl Gray with Lavendar from the little tea shop in Pike Market? Or, can I just go along? I'm getting the travel itch again (it's been almost a month!) |
well, we started 2005 off in Paris at DLRP and were there through Jan 5th - so were a little backed up on vacation time, but were looking hopefully at a trip back to Virginia this summer to visit some friends that just moved back there, but that might not be til september/october because our friend is pregnant and due in Sept.
Other than that, nothing really big planned. Our next big trip is going to be Italy sometime, or maybe even one of the Asian disneylands.... hopefully in 2006 (*crosses fingers*) We will do some weekend trips places, as we always do, out to AZ to visit my in-laws and some other friends in SouthEast Arizona, I also want to go back up to Napa/Sonoma this summer. |
Quote:
We're going to take the kids to Tombstone for the day instead...but before we go we'll make sure we screen both Tombstone and Wyatt Earp before we go so the kids will be up to date! And of course I have this whole Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday thing going on... :D |
Quote:
Anyhow, where in AZ do you live? We have friends down in Sierra Vista that we visit from time to time.... |
Quote:
We're just up the road in Tucson! My husband actually has a restaraunt in Sierra Vista...next time your there, stop in...it's called Johnny Carinos. Great Italian food, semi authentic! ;) I, myself, have been to Tombstone when I was younger...I loved it..but then I love anywhere that has historic value I was actually surfing up on Tombstone and one of the Clanton's (or is it Clayton-I'm too lazy to look it up...whoever the Earp's were against.) relatives, I think it's a grandson, anyway...he does a yearly ghost tour...I think that would be cool. Boot Hill is supposedly VERY haunted! |
All I've got is:
Disney Mexico cruise in June Santa Cruz/San Jose/San Francisco/Monterrey in July (we have friends with a beach house in Santa Cruz so it'll be drinking on the beach and avoiding the insane mess that is drunk people with tons o' fireworks on the beach. Although it is kinda amusing seeing people run when the light show goes awry.) Trying to do Florida in October (In-laws are there and well hell, why NOT go to WDW while I'm there...) I envy those leaving the North American Continent........I need more money.... |
Quote:
I will definetly have to ask if my friends have been there... Where in sierra vista? More than likely off of Frye, because thats where everything in SV is, but let me know the area and Ill tell them to hop on over for dinner ;) The clanton's have been big in Tombstone for sometime now, my uncle actually knows a few of the relatives (lets just say hes a little obsessed with Tombstone) and has done the boot hill tour and the Katchner Caverns which were popular back in that time. But if you get to do the Boot Hill tour, definetly do it.. They have daily re-enactments of the Gunfight at the OK Corral there for like $5 a person, and you can even eat at Big Nose Kates Salloon.... :) |
Do much the same as I did last year. I'm a bit of a truck nut (Chevy/GMC s-series pickups and blazers and the like). Flying down from here to Ontario, So Cal and driving with a girlfriend to St. Louis to a truck meet and back again. Last year it was in Kansas City. We drive one way and come back the other route, so as to hit 11 states. It's a great drive and a wonderful getaway.
Just call us Thelma and Louise :D |
Confirmed and for certain trips:
Vegas- Memorial Day weekend somewhere in CO where I can lounge by the pool and do as much nothing as possible- week of July 4th. Possible and probable trips: WDW first weekend of June (I want to go one more time before the AP's expire) DL in December- with the whole family if it works out (my parents and brother have not been in over 20 years) |
Vegas, for my sister-in-law's spring break. That will be a fast trip, leaving after class on Saturday, driving to Vegas, and probably taking Monday and Tuesday off work, got to be back for hubby's class Tuesday night.
I'll also be in Minnesota in June for my brother's wedding. |

I'm resurrecting this thread. :) We're more than halfway through the year. What's everyone got planned for the latter half?
I've got 2 more U2 concerts - NYC on Oct. 7, which I'll probably make into a weekend and Montreal on Nov. 26, which will definitely be a weekend trip up there. Hopefully the weather will cooperate! I'm contemplating a quick weekend down to WDW the first weekend of December for MouseFest, but I'm not sure I can swing it since I'll be in Montreal the weekend before. I'm hoping to get a trip to Maine sometime in late summer/fall to go shopping at LLBean. |
Paris in October. I think that will suffice.
|
Am I all traveled out? I can't think of anything planned that requires travel.
The plans occupying my brain right now involve local excursions. There is so much in LA that I would like to see again, and some for the first time. I think I will begin a list of fun things I want to do on a local level. Maybe wee'll even get some swank in there as well. |
Quote:
After my mental Disneyland adventure this past weekend thanks to all of your great stories, posts and of course pictures, the only thing to do is to see it all with my own two eyes...October 5-9th. Yeah! Just 76 days until the Happiest Plane Ride on Earth but no one's really counting. ;) |
Quote:
May 21 - MSG, NYC May 26 - Boston May 28 - Boston June 24 - Dublin June 25 - Dublin To come: Oct. 7 - NYC Nov. 26 - Montreal I might also try to get tickets for Oct. 8 in NYC since I'll be in town. I'll either try to buy some or wait for the day-of release. Yes, I'm nuts. |
My goodness. Color me impressed. :snap:
|
No plans as yet. With the exception of various trips to my mother's in Nevada, I'll be surprised if I leave the state.
I hope to ski this winter though. |
Just the possible/probable LA/Disneyland trip in November....:)
|
I'm in Chicago again in September but that's a business trip - beyond that, I just don't know...
|
Disneyland October 20-23. I was there last for a weekend in Feb 02, with a 'real' vacation Sept 01 - and yes, we DID fly just a few days after Sept 11. Meeting one sister there (she lives near Bakersfield)
WDW November 25-December 3. Last trip was a weekend last October, 'real' vacation October '03 - bummed to miss the F&W fest this year, but I figure the Christmas decorations will make up for it! But, I'm getting an Annual Pass so I can go back for a F&W Fest weekend in October '06. Meeting 2 sisters (one from Portland, the one from Bakersfield) and a Bro-in-law there. The sister from Portland hasn't been there since before Epcot opened, her husband has never been! "Home" to Oregon for Christmas. Misc work trips that are not planned yet. |
Alaska in August. That's probably it for 2005, although we're hoping to do Disneyland the first week of 2006.
|
In 20 days I leave for Rome, then Cologne, Germany with 11 teenagers. Further confirming the suspicion that I am, in fact, crazy.
