July 4th at Casa Chihuahua

Save the date.

Details to follow soon.

LSPoorEeyorick 06-23-2010 07:18 AM

Alas, we'll be missing this year. We'll be on a ship in the Atlantic that day (and a few days to follow, followed by a trip to Hogwarts.) But we'll be there next year!

innerSpaceman 06-23-2010 07:49 AM

I hope to make it back from Vegas in time. That's the plan, anyway.

flippyshark 06-23-2010 07:49 AM

A trip to Hogwart's? Does that mean you'll be in my neighborhood? Cool!

Snowflake 06-23-2010 09:30 AM

Alas, only in attendance if it's skypable.

mousepod 06-27-2010 10:18 AM

Update: After some off-board discussion, here's the plan:

3:00 PM - Festivities will kick off. We'll start running appropriately themed movies in the Den, while the living room & deck will be for hanging out and (gasp) conversation.

5:00 PM - The barbecue will be fired up. Burgers and corn on the cob will meet the flames.

9:00 PM - Midnight (at least based on last year) - Fireworks all over the freakin' LA basin.

We'll supply the the burgers, corn and drinks. Sides, salads, desserts etc are up to you.

Cadaverous Pallor 06-27-2010 08:51 PM

My brother is once again in town for this holiday along with his lovely family. This might be developing into a tradition.

We'll always be at Casa Chihuahua in spirit, though.

innerSpaceman 06-27-2010 10:24 PM

I should make it .... I'll be heading home from Las Vegas, so plans are fluxable, but I hope to be there for bbq.

NirvanaMan 06-28-2010 09:46 AM

Sounds awesome and we are in town this year. Looking forward to it!

Gn2Dlnd 06-28-2010 01:08 PM

Unless some heretofore unknown vacation plans throw themselves at me, I'll be there after my farmer's market - Larchmont, in case anyone wants to come shopping.

1776 sing-along? iPod plug-in for patriotic fireworks mix? Go to hell, Jim, we don't want to relive last year's nightmare?

mousepod 06-28-2010 02:25 PM

Jim - I've got my iPod speakers ready for your mix. Looking forward to it, however cheesy it is.

innerSpaceman 06-28-2010 03:01 PM

Waaaa, I've got a 4th of July mix that, I daresay, would rival Parmesan Jim's (it's a bit more concise - 25 years of editing will do that) - but he's got first dibs 'cause he had a portable sound system last year and I had only a CD. Backwards technology gets me nowhere. I'm old.

We have lots of the same songs, btw - aligning mostly in the Disney Dept. - which, as Jim and most of you well know, has a lot of patriotic music.

So maybe if fireworks do indeed go to midnight, we can listen to both ...and take in stride any repeats, heheh - but who could tire of America Sings and Great Mr. Lincoln on the Fourth of July? Only the Benedict Arnolds of today, that's who!! :)

Disneyphile 06-28-2010 03:07 PM

We're a maybe right now! A friend I haven't seen in a decade is coming to town, so I'm working around her vacation schedule as to when she wants to get together. :)

If you'd like, you can bring her along! We'll do a head count on Friday so we can go burger and beverage shopping.

Coolness! I'll mention it to her. She's a total Disney geek, so I'm sure she'd get along great with everyone. I've known her for almost 20 years now, and she's awesome. :)

Not Afraid 06-28-2010 06:30 PM

We'll be there for the early shift but we must get home to puglets before the big booming starts (they get too stressed out).

Morrigoon 06-28-2010 09:14 PM

Big daddy mouse has decided to own me until 1030 - starts early enough and ends late enough to guarantee I don't get to do anything that day.

Gn2Dlnd 06-29-2010 03:26 AM

iSm, have you listened to Stan Freberg Presents yet? 'Tis the season.

I'll supply a good 40 minutes of patriotic bombast, and cede the rest to Steve.

innerSpaceman 06-29-2010 07:07 AM

Stan Freberg presents was a riot! Thanks. The world is so much stranger now I know that recording exists.

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 06-30-2010 08:16 PM

Stan Freberg wanted to charge $20 for his autograph at Comic Con. Um... no.

min3d 06-30-2010 09:22 PM

Shall I make my Monster Cookies again? :D

We're in - our out-of-town friend is still just a maybe, since she has a few others to visit while she's here.

Surprisingly, we may be in if that is okay (our usual Quatro de Julio friends aren't doing their thing this year). And it is even a slim chance of there being a third with us. If Heather has already shopped, we'll just grab something - no worries.

Prudence 07-02-2010 05:27 PM

We're hoping to make it. We might not stay too late, what with the new family members and all, but we're planning to come for at least part of it!

Now, I have to decide what to bring!

mousepod 07-02-2010 11:06 PM

Kevy, Prudence (and your very significant others)... you are most welcome. We'd be delighted to see you!

innerSpaceman 07-05-2010 01:57 PM

Thanks for another perfect 4th of July. The festivities at your place are always magnificent. I had a terrific time. It was swell to see everyone. Thank goodness our host and hostess have such good taste in real estate ;) ... and are such wonderful, generous, fun-loving people!

:iSm:

Not Afraid 07-05-2010 02:24 PM

We had a lot of fun! We times out departure a bit too late though and had to see ISM. ;) We played "Beat the Boom" all of the way home - we got stuck in some accident/DUI traffic. The pugs barked all night long at the noise outside. Poor kids - fireworks really upset them.

CoasterMatt 07-05-2010 02:32 PM

Thanks for another wonderful 4th of July!

Morrigoon 07-05-2010 04:10 PM

Great party guys! Was so nice to see all the northern LoTers :D

Prudence 07-05-2010 06:12 PM

We had a wonderful time! Apparently we could have stayed longer as the kittens were completely uninterested in the fireworks noise.

Kevy Baby 07-05-2010 06:19 PM

Thank you to our host/hostess for their hospitality - we really had a good time. And it was good to see everyone!

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 07-05-2010 06:23 PM

Ditto the above - Thanks for a great view, great company and fun!!!

mousepod 07-05-2010 10:03 PM

So happy that I got to see so many LoTers. You're awesome folks.
