Happy Halloween 2010 Everyone !!

Tis the day here in Aus and we're preparing for the fun.

Google has the CUTEST Scooby-Doo logo for halloween - make sure you find ALL the panels.

...off to make that Kitty Litter Cake.

For those (like me) who can't wait for tomorrow here in the US, click here.

flippyshark 10-30-2010 09:47 PM

My real Halloween celebration will happen a day or two late, I'm afraid. But, hey, I think there should be at least 12 days of Halloween before I have to face the horror of non-stop Christmas music in every public space on the planet. (It's already started at my local Target.)

wendybeth 10-31-2010 12:55 AM

Happy Halloween to you as well, Bear! (And Stoat, too!) We're uncharacteristically low key this year, owing to crappy weather and it being on a Sunday. We're going to go to lunch, see a scary movie (Probably 'Let Me In') and then come home and pass out candy to those kids intrepid enough to climb Mount Doom in the rain.

Wendybeth! I implore you, see the Swedish one (Let The Right One In)- they have it on Netflix instant, and it's a much better film- it sticks with you, with really creepy atmosphere, and an awesome girl lead.

My Dad already got that one- a friend of ours shipped it over to us when he heard that we saw 'Let Me In'. 'Let The Right One In' was pretty good. The only thing that really annoyed me was that when you put the subtitles on, it doesn't say what the characters are saying and then that English dub was super annoying as well. The girl lead was pretty good, I still think the girl from 'Let Me In' was pretty awesome.

CoasterMatt 10-31-2010 10:56 AM

Netflix has it in Swedish, with subtitles and no silly dub.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

The owl pumpkin on the left was, of course, created by the lovely and talented CP.

katiesue 10-31-2010 08:17 PM

Awwww so cute. And your pumpkins look awesome!

Cadaverous Pallor 10-31-2010 08:46 PM

Happy Halloween! Did a short Trick-or-Treat and handed out candy to 4 kids. :)

JWBear 10-31-2010 09:08 PM

We got 25.

Alex 10-31-2010 09:15 PM

We got 10 (in three door knocks). Mostly, as near as I can tell, Indian kids out experiencing an American oddity (the pack of Indian parents was much larger than the pack of kids and they all seemed quite amused by things.

10 kids is more treat or treaters than the previous 11 years combined (before that I lived on the 14th floor of a secure building and before that in crappy apartment that students rent so this is by far my most active year ever since I was a pre-teen and convinced my mom that I really didn't want to go trick-or-treating so she let me stay at my grandparents and hand out candy which I didnt' want to do either but viewed as better than being out on the streets begging for food).

blueerica 11-01-2010 06:54 AM

Wow, the new apartment complex was filled to the brim with kids in costume... on Saturday.

Michigan, especially the rural area I was from, is a relatively conservative place. But, we went trick-or-treating when Halloween fell on a Sunday. We just went earlier in the evening. I was shocked and couldn't find the candy when kids started showing up at 4:30 on Saturday.

Needless to say, the handful of out-of-towner kids that showed up on Sunday got MUCH more candy. :)

BarTopDancer 11-01-2010 08:40 AM

I had 4 kids and those were kids I saw from my patio, went downstairs and offloaded into their buckets.

I had my pumpkin, a few decorations and a couple Halloween shadow producing candles on my patio. I saw kids point up to it but no one ever showed up.

If I am still in this complex next year I think I'll skip the candy all together.

Mousey Girl 11-01-2010 11:48 AM

It amazes me how many parents send their kids up to an unlighted door.

I found out that The Boy went treating last night at his dad's. He brought the candy home for ME to go through. Dork.

Not Afraid 11-01-2010 12:01 PM

We turned off the lights, locked the gate and made pumpkin soup and foccacia stuff with browned butter sage and goat cheese. We're the Halloween version of the Grinch.

JWBear 11-01-2010 12:12 PM

Soooo.... Halloween is over. Can I start playing Christmas music now?

SzczerbiakManiac 11-01-2010 12:18 PM

NO!

SzczerbiakManiac 11-01-2010 12:19 PM

Unless you're a retailer. In which case you started playing the music and putting up Xmas decorations two months ago.

My door is in a hallway, but I have the corner unit so it would have been able to figure out. And I put decorations on my door.

I buy candy I like. Then I have to take it all to work because I don't want it in my house!

Since when?

We had a lot of kiddies. Not sure Aud's slutty candy giving outfit was appropriate but I (and all the of the neighborhood dads) enjoyed it quite a bit.

And now on to the pumpkins

You're half right.

Kevy Baby 11-02-2010 10:19 AM

You're just a pervert wanting to see pictures of kiddies. I'm okay with that.

Ghoulish Delight 11-02-2010 10:23 AM

Yes, I'm perfectly healthy.

You've already seen the costume...Red Riding Hood was revisited.

One kid politely said, "Thank you, Little Miss Riding Hood!" It was adorable.

Omg, is there a difference? Geesh- we've had these two mission zombies in our hood for the last week- they park their car sorta in front of our house, and I have no idea why. I made the mistake of telling them that no, I wasn't interested, but my MIL was Mormon......and they won't go away. They've stopped by twice since then, and both times she was out. (I think maybe they want to hit her up for money?) Anyway, the last time, we had just arrived home and hadn't even turned on the outside lights. (It was dark). Before I had a chance to set down the groceries, they were at the door- and I have to admit I got a little snotty with them). Their car is still out there, and it's kinda freaking me out........

I thought they weren't supposed to drive? All the kids on missions I see are always riding bikes.

wendybeth 11-06-2010 08:57 AM

They have a car with NY plates on it- weird, eh? I saw them putting stuff in the back of it the other night.

Cadaverous Pallor 11-06-2010 01:11 PM

Um, those aren't Mormons...

Kevy Baby 11-06-2010 05:03 PM
