Walt's Barn, Griffith Park, Sun. Jan 16th

I plan to visit Walt's Barn at the LA Live Steamers in Griffith Park on Sunday the 16th. Barn's open from 11-3, so I'll probably go around noon. Anybody care to join?

This is this coming Sunday! :)

I'd love to make a day of it, perhaps add a picnic at the Old Zoo or something.

I know I'm far away, but I'll be there in spirit. Walt's Barn is great!

katiesue 01-10-2011 01:33 PM

I do want to make it there sometime but it won't be this weekend. Sorry :(

madmonkeygirl 01-10-2011 07:42 PM

Sorry if weather is nice I have other plans (in memory of my sister's father in law death anniversary memorial) at the dog beach.

Chernabog 01-13-2011 07:57 AM

I shall be there! Also, there's drag queen bingo that night for anyone that is interested :)

Morrigoon 01-13-2011 10:26 AM

Cherny: wanna add a picnic lunch at the Old Zoo?

Morrigoon 01-15-2011 10:14 PM

Okay, so it looks like it's me, Joe & BJ. If anybody else is planning/thinking of coming, please let us know so we keep you informed of any "extracurricular" activities we might be engaging in in the area.

Last remaining intact piece of track from Walt's railroad. Awesome presentation.

The Combine, mid-restoration. The society are working to build a structure to protect it, so they don't have to keep it tented. Obviously they're still raising the funds to cover it.

Great pics. Looks to me like they modeled ToonTown depot after Ollie Johnston's, no?

Morrigoon 01-17-2011 04:07 PM

Interesting thought! ...Maybe?

Ghoulish Delight 01-17-2011 04:21 PM

Not an exact match, but I see a lot of similarity

So, is that the train house that was moved from Ollie Johnston's house and restored?

You can see part of it in situ here:

Morrigoon 01-17-2011 07:00 PM

Yes, I believe it is.

Morrigoon 01-17-2011 07:00 PM

Oh wait, maybe not... the depot is a bit small compared to that. So I guess I"m not sure.

Ghoulish Delight 01-17-2011 09:03 PM

She's not talking about the building in the foreground, just the small bit of yellow structure peaking out behind.

Morrigoon 01-17-2011 09:37 PM

Ah... makes more sense.

alphabassettgrrl 01-24-2011 04:21 PM

Cool! Sounds like it was an interesting and successful outing!
