Disneyland Hotel refurb questions...

Just curious -- I've been looking around online, tyring to find out if the waterfall has been taken out of the DLH. I know the koi pond is gone, but I can't find a definitive answer about the waterfall. Can anyone enlighten me?

BarTopDancer 01-18-2011 08:40 PM

It's long gone.

The tears of all who stop by and remember have created their own waterfall.

And, as I am apparently the only person on the internet privy to this information, this is my cue to mention that, according to the artwork on the construction walls, the new themed water slide will feature waterfalls that appear to be 30 or 40 feet high.

Major Cool !

I tried to find the thread where the plans had been posted and discussed but struck out last night (granted, I didn't try that hard).

I like the Monorail corkscrew. That should make the Monorail an E ticket ride.

A loop would be better.

Through fire, of course. ;)

I didn't see the waterfall drawing before - awesome!

innerSpaceman 01-19-2011 05:29 PM

I have a strong feeling the waterfall was added after all the complaints about the Bonita Falls being removed. No reason why a cool feature like that wouldn't have been part of the initial release of artists' renderings.

And a tribute to Nature's Wonderland is planned to go where the Bonita Falls were, as a better entry to the new "Frontierland" tower - also, ahem, AFTER complaints that the beloved Bonita Falls were being replaced with a blank lawn.

They couldn't have predicted these issues? Disneyland is tone deaf.

I think the whole thing looks hokey

I assume there is somewhere to swim in all of that? The water slide doesn't just dump you out on a sidewalk?

It appears to dump you into a small pond about 5 ft wide and 10 ft long. With lots of people standing around watching you get your water weddgie (and the following adjustment of your swimwear).

Yeah, fun!

Morrigoon 01-20-2011 11:46 AM

So is it going to be a pretty thing to look at but that people can rarely use because they'll refuse to staff it most of the time?

Oops, my bitter is showing.

€uroMeinke 01-20-2011 12:34 PM

I don't think it's all that pretty

innerSpaceman 01-20-2011 12:55 PM

I think it looks way better without the waterfall. And I think the waterfall is a hoax.

The waterfall in the night version of the Monorail slides rendition were always there... The Nature's Wonderland geyser is the recent addition that was made to placate those complaining about the waterfall.
