Friends, I'm in need of a new bluetooth headset.

Any opinions out there on which is the best/best-bang-for-the-buck before I go out reading review after review?

I have had good luck with various Plantronics AND they are available at Costco so if it sucks you can return it without hassle.

But now I just plug phone into ShinyCar and it runs through the speakers/speaker phone.

So I suggest you buy a new car with integrated blew-teeth instead.

I agree there! Now that I've had the Ford Sync system, I'll never stick one of those annoying Blew-Teeth in my ear again!

I second the Plantronics. Specifically the Voyager Pro. It's comfortable, sounds good, does audio so you can listen to movies/songs, lasts for days....

I gave up on Jawbone, I could never get the things to fit well and each time I tried to adjust it I'd disconnect the call do to the entire thing being one large button.

Audio on Jawbone has been the best, but I also had trouble with fit and durability, so Plantronics has worked best for me

Another vote for the Ford Sync System.

I've got a pair of Motorolla A2DP stereo headphones, with mic, that work great. Sure, it's technically illegal to drive with them, I don't drive often enough to give a crap. And while it's also technically illegal to bike with them too, I don't think anyone cares.

Older Jawbone was one big button, I have a Jawbone Icon, which puts a button on the edge of the device. The other improvement is a physical on/off switch. The noise reduction allows me to drive with my windows open, and that's definitely an improvement over bluetooth devices that would cave under the slightest breeze from the air conditioner. Also, you can stream audio from your smartphone, which allows me to listen to NPR updates, books, or the google maps lady while I'm driving. I've had mine for over a year, it's a sturdy little device.

We've got both a jawbone and a plantronics stereo headset - love them both.

My only complaint about Plantronics is that old ear piece I had did something wierd after being left in a hot car. The soft plastic sort of disolved - is was almost like warm chewing gum. It was old though and needed to be replaced - which we did with another Plantronics.

That's fine but you get a lot of weird looks when you wear it into the grocery store.

Yeah, that is the one drawback. But I find that I don't use my phone much in the store, and when I do hands free is not all that important. The hasstle of carring the device around and keeping it charged is just not worth it for me.

Umm... I think he was referring to carrying around a Ford automobile to use the Sync system.
