I need a really gay song

I could use some musical assistance. In a couple weeks I'll be co-emceeing our Rocky pre-show with a fellow 'mo. We need an upbeat, non-cliché, über-gay song to start off our presentation. When he and I previously performed this gig, we used "His Name Is Lancelot" from Spamalot and that worked really well.

Since this will just be used for our intro, the bit(s) we choose can't be more than 90 seconds long. The song itself can be longer, we just can't use more than 90 seconds of it. It also needs to be very upbeat—something that will get the audience excited.

Here are some songs we don't want to use:
  • It's Raining Men (cliché)
  • Dancing Queen (cliché)
  • His Name Is Lancelot (used it before)
  • Macho Man (cliché)
  • YMCA (cliché)
  • anything from Rocky Horror

I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No

SzczerbiakManiac 03-02-2011 12:01 PM

Unfortunately it's not upbeat enough.

Unless there's a remix or pop version you can point me to?

Moonliner 03-02-2011 12:40 PM

I'd argue the point, but many times have I head how gay this song is. "Anyway you wanna do it I'll take it like a man...."

If that doesn't work then I'd suggest anything from Glee.

And no quoting this message out of context Kevy.
That goes for you to BTD.

What about Let Me Be Your Drag Queen?

Bornieo: Fully Loaded 03-02-2011 03:12 PM

Mindy played me that new Lady Ga-Ga song and it screamed "gay" right into my ear. It was like the THX promo in the theatres. Only LOUDER.

Morrigoon 03-02-2011 06:40 PM

Keep it gay!

CoasterMatt 03-02-2011 08:36 PM

How about Girls and Boys by Blur?

CoasterMatt 03-02-2011 08:39 PM

Or you could go with "What What (In The Butt)" by Samwell" :)

"Push Push in the Bush"

The Intro to Ballroom Blitz could be construed as pretty gay (and, there's nothing more upbeat than some great Glam).

Adam and the Ants - Stand and Deliver - About Dandy highwaymen

katiesue 03-02-2011 09:41 PM

How about Billy Squire - Rock Me Tonight. It has the gayest dancing in a video - ever. And it must at a minimum be the most embarrassing video ever.

CoasterMatt 03-02-2011 09:45 PM

If i was gonna pick an Adam and the Ants song - "Prince Charming" might be it - but not quite upbeat enough.

"Don't you ever, don't you ever, stop being dandy, showing me you're handsome"

Ghoulish Delight 03-02-2011 09:46 PM

Ziggy Stardust?

Not Afraid 03-02-2011 09:47 PM

"Oh Bondage Up Yours"

Not Afraid 03-02-2011 09:47 PM

I don't know if we're being helpful, but this is kind of fun!

CoasterMatt 03-02-2011 09:47 PM

or "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" by Culture Club

Definitely the new Lady Gaga song. I think it's called "Born This Way".

SzczerbiakManiac 03-03-2011 12:38 AM

When I originally said "upbeat", I should have said "high energy". It should be a song that will make the audience want to cheer by the third measure—if not sooner. It doesn't have to be club music to be high energy, the opening chords of Star Wars (were they "gay") would be more than sufficient.

Homoerotic or dandy music videos are fun to watch, but the audience will only be hearing the song, not watching it, so gay visuals are irrelevant.

Hmm, that definitely has potential! I'll see if I can get a clean copy of the song.

Lady GaGa's "Born This Way" is a deliberate attempt to create a Gay anthem (she's said this herself) but I'm not so sure how successful she was in that effort. It's an interesting song, but IMO it's no anthem. Regardless, for my purposes, it's not sufficiently energetic.

What's funny is how everyone thinks this song is about sex when in fact it is a commentary about the music business and what it takes to get ahead.

So it is about sex.

Chernabog 03-03-2011 10:08 PM

I still like Pansy Division's version of Liz Phair's "Flower." That's soooo gay.

Kevy Baby 03-04-2011 08:25 AM

Is "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred too cliché?

SzczerbiakManiac 03-04-2011 06:20 PM

It's not too cliché, but I despise that song.

Gemini Cricket 03-04-2011 07:46 PM

What about Cha Cha Heels by Eartha Kitt and Bronski Beat?
