Help- I'm going to Cleveland!!!
Okay, so I was just going to jump into Matterhorn Fan's thread and say "Why, yes- buying tickets to Cleveland....." but then I decided to create my own pity-party. Feel free to derail- frankly, I'd be surprised to see any response at all.
So- going to Cleveland on Saturday. I have to work all day tomorrow, and will be packing tomorrow night. We are surprising my lovely sis-in-law and her partner (well, her partner is in on the surprise) and so the first night is covered. What do we do next? I know there is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but what else? I really love my sis-in-law, but she is Martha Stewart and I am ....not. I feel the need to go in armed with info, but with all due apologies to Drew Carey, I really doubt that Cleveland rocks. I hope I am wrong. Trip report to follow.* Please, anyone, give me some stuff to do that doesn't involve quilting, the Amish, or any of that crafty **** that I like to purchase, because I am too inept to do it. If everyone else draws the blank that I am drawing, just wish me well. (sigh). *I do plan on commandeering one of their comps and giving a field report, but I may be censored. |
You could stick around for awhile and go to my 20-year reunion for me?

Well, here's one list: 10 things to do
I think the cemetary sounds cool. |
Wendy~ I've been to Cleveland many times. Mostly visiting relatives that are scattered throughout the suburbs of Cleveland. You might be pleasantly surprised with the scene...
I'm not sure if the Indians are going to be in town or if you like baseball. If they are, Jacobs Field is a great place to watch a game. The Flats on the Cuyahoga river is a huge party place, lots of bars and restaurants. I'm sure you can find some good tequila there. It's been quite a few years, but I remember being very impressed with the The Cleveland Museum of Art. http://www.clemusart.com/ |
You can go to amish country and gather a bunch of amish arts and crafts stuff...
sorry, couldn't resist |

It's painfully early in the morning, and I gave up trying to sleep. We leave for the airport in an hour, so I just wanted to say bye, have a fun week, and thanks for the pointers, Prudence and Merry! (I may have to check that cemetary out- sounds kind of cool). Cedar Point may be on the intinerary, as well.
Tc, and cya next week!:D |
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is cool. They usually have some interesting exhibits going on.

Okay, so we arrived, after some surprisingly easy and on time flights.... Cleveland , in truth, does not suck. However, it is in the midst of a freak snow storm courtesy of Canada. We left Spokane with it's 70+ temps and arrived to blizzardy cold. It's only supposed to last a few days, so we still plan on hitting quite a few of the spots y'all have so graciously pointed out. I'll post a Rock and Roll Hall report and see if I can get some decent pics.
Oh, and my sis-in-law was completely surprised- it was great!!!! We met them at a restaurant, and before we went in we took a phone pic of us in front of the doors of the establishment, and sent it to her. We watched as she checked her phone, then ducked into the booth behind her. She was kind of flustered as she looked at the pic, and asked her partner if they had a Beef O'Brady's in Spokane. Eric then started lobbing sugar packets at her head until she turned around, and she was totally shocked and just burst into tears!!!:D |
It has snowed about six inches so far, and they expect another 3-6 overnight. Still, we've had fun. We spent the day at the Rainforest/Cleveland Zoo, and the rainforest is way cool. (Skipped the outdoor zoo portion, but they gave us tickets to come back later when the weather is better). Still mulling over the Rock and Roll thing, as it costs $20 a person to get in, and I am not sure I want to spend that much. Might just hit their gift shop and do the Science Center instead.....Btw, 'BodyWorld' is there now! :snap:
