Happy Earth Day!!!

Happy Earth Day!!

So, how are you celebrating?

I'm driving my SUV down to Newport Beach today. Too cold to run the air conditioner, so I figured I could throw some trash out the window on the way down.

OK, J/K, except that I really am driving my gas-guzzling SUV down to Newport Beach. I'll continue our regular efforts at the Tramspotter Household to recycle as much as we can, and maybe I'll take a turn at tilling the mulch bin.

What do some of the eco-friendly LoTters do in their households?

I plan on being as lazy as possible, thus reducing the ammount of body heat I generate so I don't contriubte to global warming.

I don't drive... I use public transit and walk ALOT.

At home, I recycle and use primarily recyclable paper bags from grocery stores as trash recepticles. We're pretty good about not wasting electricity.

Since Tom moved near the redline, we've started using the Metro for our ventures to Los Feliz, Hollywood, downtown, Universal City, et al. It's inexpensive and clean, we don't have to park, and we're more active. On Sundays we metro to Hollywood and Vine for the farmer's market, where we buy organic food from locals. And when we have to drive, we carpool and take the Toyota Corolla or the Nissan Sentra. Hurrah for fuel economy. I suspect someday there'll be a hybrid in our fleet.

I'd walk to pick up the girls from school today, but I did it on Wednesday and since then Chloe has had this major fever. No way I'd get her to walk ten feet, much less down the hill and back up it. So gas guzzler it is. Sorry Earth! And since it's 80 degrees here today, the A/C is pumping furiously, too.

But since Cass's bday is tomorrow, we had EarthDay Birthday Cupcakes at her school today. :) The kids sang Happy EarthDay to Cassidy. Cute!!

We had a volunteer day through my company, also in conjunction with National Youth Service Day. I lead a project to plant flowers and do yard work at a group home for people with physical and mental disabilities. We (myself and the HS student volunteers) planted flowers that will encourage butterflies and birds to visit. It was great weather and a wonderful way to have a day away from the office while helping some people. :)

Take me:

First I want to go to Santiago, Chile followed by a trip to Easter Island. Must visit Cusco, Peruwith side trips to Lake Titicaca and Machu Pichu (I hear the narrow gauge train ride to Machu Pichu is a must. Wing over to Caracas and take a 4 day Jungle Trek up a Orinoco trib to see Angel Falls.

On to Paris. Armed with my All American Charm I do wish to see a few things in Paris including DLP :D . After a few days in the City of Lights I would like to go South to Burgundyand rent a houseboat to explore its' many canals.

I must see Interlaken in Switzerland as well as Zurich. From Zurich I want to fly down to J'Burg, South Africa then drive on up to Victoria Falls and see some wildlife. Must take the Blue Train to Cape Town which supposedly has more hills then Vancouver, San Francisco, and Boston combined.

Time for a Cruise....and what better way to see the East African Coast and the Middle East then a Cruise from Cape Town to Dubia, UAE. While in Dubia must take a jeep tour of the desert and visit an Oasis. From Dubia we would need to wing our way to Istanbull, Turkey. Visit the Sultans Palace and other sights in this very cosmopoliton city before flying up to Munich.

Fahren vom Munich om der zug zu Frankfurt om Rein. Fahren Deutchland und Osteriech.

After visiting Germany and Austria fly to St. Petersburg Russia; a City built in a vain attempt to escape the buruaucracy in Moscow that was choking the country hundreds of years before communism. From St. Pertersburg we should take a car and make our way down to Moscow. Yeah, I want to see the Kremlin with St. Basils and all that but what I really want to see is the Moscow Pizza Hut :D From Moscow I want to take the Trans Mongolian Express across the worlds largest continent, thru Siberia and its virgin forest and Lake Baikiyl, the Worlds largest Freshwater Lake and on to Mongoliato cross the Gobi Desert. Finally we will see the Great Wall of China before arriving in Beijing, China.

Take one of those sleeper buses from Beijing to Xiang...I don't know what's in Xiang but I think it has a cool name. From Xiang continue on south via sleeper bus to Hong Kong. From the shopping paradise of Hong Kong we simply must travel down to Siem Reap to see the ancient city of Ankgor Wat. Onto Bangkok before flying back North to Tokyo...where of course we gotta end our trip seeing Tokyo Disney Seas and Disneyland.

Thanks in advance for inviting me ;)
