Anyway, it's been forever since I've posted a poll, so here goes.....

Please vote. Soon and often!

wendybeth 06-08-2011 07:17 PM

Lol- thanks, Steve- I couldn't figure out how to post a stupid poll! Been too long, I guess.

innerSpaceman 06-08-2011 07:20 PM

Ok, now that the Poll part is up - you can select multiple responses - so pick any dates you might be available. The Poll will close one week from today, June 8, unless wendybeth sees a growing trend and pounces on it. ;)

I'm going to assume the weekday choices are in the evening, otherwise I can't do any of them!

Cynthia 06-09-2011 09:24 AM

We can take people from Central/North OC if we attend the date chosen

Kevy Baby 06-09-2011 09:44 AM

The only day I might be available for this is the Sunday choice. But at this point I cannot commit to even being able to go on that day, so I shall refrain from voting.

Moonliner 06-09-2011 10:50 AM

You forgot the obligatory "silly response" that those of us unable to attend local events can select in order to help preserve the illusion that we are in fact cool SoCal'ers who just can't make this particular event.

innerSpaceman 06-09-2011 11:43 AM

I have to point out that I myself am completely booked up on that Sunday, which is Father's Day.

I'd love to do this on Tori's birthday, since this IS for her. Except I could not shuttle the Washington contingent from Anaheim that day.

Is there gonna be any Disneyland on Saturday???

Capt Jack 06-09-2011 12:05 PM

wow. I remember 16...that was the year my dad used to call "the year I (me) lost my mind"

more to the truth, I think that was the year I finally drove him out of his.

:argghh:

BarTopDancer 06-10-2011 10:29 AM

Father's Day plans with my dad won't be determined until the weekend depending on how my dad is feeling. If we don't have plans I am in.

Kevy Baby 06-10-2011 06:09 PM

Hee hee: I still love the title of this thread

Lol! Ty- she loves that movie, so it was a no-brainer.......

Gn2Dlnd 06-11-2011 07:30 PM

I votinated! Only Wednesday works for me, hope it works for you!

wendybeth 06-13-2011 09:55 PM

We should arrive in Anaheim around 4:00 Saturday, and to answer Steve's query (don't know if it was directed at me or everyone in general) yes, we will be hitting the Park that evening. We're good for any day, but we'll need to hitch a ride if possible- taking a taxi would be too expensive, and renting a car for a few hours would be a waste of time and money, as we won't need it for anything else while we're down there. (Not to mention the very high likelihood that we will get lost, even with Navigator- lol). Again, we'll pay for gas! :D (Or we can pay someone's entrance fee, whichever works out better).

Not Afraid 06-13-2011 10:04 PM

When do you leave WB?

wendybeth 06-13-2011 10:06 PM

We leave on the 23rd. :(

innerSpaceman 06-14-2011 06:53 AM

Well, then I think we should do the exhibit on Sunday. It seems the only day a ride can be arranged. I'd certainly be willing to skip seeing Mary Poppins - that would have been fun, but - yeah - I've seen it. I can't miss Father's Day brunch, though - so the afternoon would work better for me. If that accommodation can be made, I'm in for Sunday - and even some Saturday night at Disneyland!

wendybeth 06-14-2011 12:28 PM

I went ahead and voted for Sunday as well- I think it's the clear front-runner, although I will be :( that some people won't be able to make it. I'm on a break from work right now, but will get online tonight and check out times, etc and we can toss those out for consideration.

keith - SuPeR K! 06-14-2011 05:01 PM

I'd prefer Wednesday. I live near Disneyland and could possibly take 3 people in my car since one of my BFF's Sophia will be in town.

innerSpaceman 06-14-2011 05:20 PM

I'm a good for Wednesday, too. Just sayin' (and isn't it someone's actual birthday?)

The FOXYSofa? I must see her!

But I can't do Wednesday.

BUT my new and improved PREMIUM AP showed up today so I can go in the park Saturday!

No wait, I can't. U2 that night. Somehow I keep forgetting.

She goes with a moniker of an attractive piece of living room furniture?

Indeed.

Kevy Baby 06-14-2011 06:55 PM

Cool!

Maybe I will start going by HOTTottoman.

innerSpaceman 06-15-2011 09:25 AM

Hahaha, can't give any more mojo to Kevy, but that deserves some.

Oh, I just want to add I would suspect the exhibit would be a lot less crowded on a Wednesday than on a Sunday (not to mention Father's Day to boot).

LSPoorEeyorick 06-15-2011 10:25 AM

We're up for Sunday OR Wednesday.

wendybeth 06-15-2011 12:45 PM

Even though I voted Sunday, I'm up for Wednesday as well. Whatever day, we should probably have it decided by tonight- I'm thinking we should lock on to tix asap. Only three more days until we get to see you guys- I'm soooo excited!

€uroMeinke 06-15-2011 01:58 PM

I voted for Sunday since I have to work on Wednesday and my father's been dead for awhile now.

Not Afraid 06-15-2011 02:17 PM

I'm going to say (almost definitively) Sunday at 11. Tickets are available. Then we can go to DL afterwards. We can pick WB and Cree up if necessary unless there's someone closer who is going.

Thoughts before we all hand over our CC's

innerSpaceman 06-15-2011 02:49 PM

Well, some of us have fathers, and 11 am is absolutely out of the question for me. I'd be very disappointed if that were the choice. It's not my call to make, but I would urge that if Sunday is selected, we do it later in the day - considering the family obligations that many people have. Or at least that I have (am I the only one with a dad?)

But I still think Wednesday would be less crowded, and Tori's birthday.

Flip a coin. ;)

Snowflake 06-15-2011 04:08 PM

Good thing this is not swank camp planning. ;)

I'm excited for all of you, though. I'll be there in spirit.

BarTopDancer 06-15-2011 05:08 PM

And some of us have Father's Day dinner and won't be able to make an afternoon event.

WenchyBeth, what say you (and Tori)?

Kevy Baby 06-15-2011 05:24 PM

And some of us have no personal life and can rarely make social engagements :(

I just need to figure out when I we will be able to see the Wenchy posse.

innerSpaceman 06-15-2011 05:26 PM

I say we have the dads fight it out in a back alley somewhere!

Awesome, let's pick an alley by the museum, then afterwards we can go to the show.

Not Afraid 06-15-2011 05:56 PM

My thinking was based, partially, on a post Wendy made earlier:
Quote:

t just occurred to me tonight that I only have 11 days until I get to see you guys again! Omg! It's been the longest year- not a hard slog like some have had, but not the easiest either. I am sooooooooo looking forward to seeing everyone! I want: to see Lisa and envy her her perkys, to see the pugsleys and kittehs, to talk coasters with Matt and drink some of Chris's killer cocktails, to hopefully see the Utah contingent (it's been a long time!), to have a pool party with whoever wants to invade the Shanaheim, and to talk cars, PNW grunge music and smells with Audreric! I just miss you all so much, and you should know- the Girl had a Powerpoint SLC presentation today with her principal, and she included in the 'Family' section a picture of the LoT Yosemite group, as well as an explanation as to how a 'family' can extend beyond genetic borders.

Last, but not least- Tori has some hugs she wants to give a few people. You know who you are. :-)

So.....if we go to LACMA at 11 or 12, we can take WB+ (and anyone else who wants to join) back to our house for some of Chris' killer cocktails, pugsleys and kittehs. Then head back down to DL (or go to dinner or do whatever). Also, our house is somewhat central for anyone who wants to join but is passless.

My Dad's dead too, but I bet he's been gaining some cool super powers wherever he is and can kick ass.

But if he's a zombie then he can kick ass and eat brainz.

Kevy Baby 06-15-2011 06:05 PM

I was told there would be no zombies

Not Afraid 06-15-2011 06:16 PM

So, who CAN go at 11 or 12? Or is this just an argument between me and Steve? (And how unusual would that be?)

ToriBear 06-15-2011 06:16 PM

I like Lisa's idea! And it looks like Sunday wins the date battle. I'll ask mom about this when she gets home tonight so we can get the tickets as soon as possible. Three days until we come!!!!!! :D

BarTopDancer 06-15-2011 06:17 PM

I CAN and WILL go if it's at 11 or 12. My Father's Day plans are dinner around 5 or 6.

Not Afraid 06-15-2011 06:18 PM

Hey Marla, can you do some transport TO LACMA if we take it from there?

BarTopDancer 06-15-2011 06:25 PM

I can swing by Anaheim to LACMA and back to casaPugCat if necessary. I just need to be in HB around 6.

innerSpaceman 06-15-2011 06:39 PM

Eh, it's ok with me. I'll join you guys at Diz later, perhaps.

Brendan 06-15-2011 06:48 PM

We can provide transport between North-OC and back for 2 or 3.

Kevy Baby 06-15-2011 07:29 PM

I can provide transport for those going insane...

€uroMeinke 06-15-2011 07:53 PM

I will stay away from all designated drivers

Sounds like a perfect plan. Eric is a dad, so it also takes care of the 'what do we do for Father's Day' thing, and he very much wants to see the exhibit. Thanks, everyone- I wish we could all go together, but at least we should be able to connect up at some point during the day.

Now, I just have to get through the next two days of "I want something new...." It's very hard to be creative when you're a short-timer!

Trial by fire on the CA freeways?

wendybeth 06-15-2011 09:09 PM

Lol- she does have a WA permit.........

Not Afraid 06-16-2011 09:50 AM

So, we're in the process of getting tickets for the NOON window of the exhibition. We're orderong our member tix, plus 2 for WB&E, one for Marla and one free tix for Tori.

If anyone else is joining us, order Noon tix.

BarTopDancer 06-16-2011 10:02 AM

Gracias!

keith - SuPeR K! 06-16-2011 10:22 AM

Sadly I will have to miss this. We'll have to arrange some meetup at Disneyland or something later in the week because I really want to see the Spokanians!

In my research on what to call people from Spokane I found this related tidbit:
Quote:

Spokane is known as the "Birthplace of Father's Day".

Don't you hate those absentee dads?

innerSpaceman 06-16-2011 11:14 AM

Ironically, I think I'm still going to the exhibit on Wednesday. ;)

When are there other options besides Sunday mid-day to see the Spokanians?

We'll be there for five days, so I'm sure we can arrange something! I'm gonna miss the villa- that was handy for entertaining. Hearthstone, here we come!

wendybeth 06-17-2011 11:59 PM

Got a 10:00 am flight tomorrow- will be in Anaheim by 4:00 pm- woot! See you all ( or those that we are fortunate enough to see) in a short while! (Hope I can sleep- lol).

BarTopDancer 06-18-2011 12:48 PM

Woo! ShinyShuttleService is planning on leaving here around 10:15am, for an arrival at your hotel around 10:30ish getting us to LA around 11:30.

I'll be reachable via voice until 6pm or so tonight and then text (but it may be slow returning ;) )

ToriBear 06-18-2011 05:31 PM

We are finally here!!! Yayyay!!!!

Not Afraid 06-18-2011 08:34 PM

I can't wait to see you tomorrow at LACMA.

After LACMA, we are going to go to the park if anyone wants to meet us there.

Ghoulish Delight 06-20-2011 07:51 AM

Hope it was a great time. Sorry we couldn't join in the fun, spent the whole weekend doing the Father's Day rounds with family.

BarTopDancer 06-20-2011 10:18 AM

The exhibit is awesome. I think you and CP will love it, I hope you have plans to see it before it glows away forever.
