The smell of old books (as opposed to newly printed books) is essentially dust and mold. Seems easy enough to replicate.

Just have an old book next to you while you read the e-reader.
Isn't the point of the e-reader that you're reading on the go? I don't suppose there's room for a candleholder in your e-reader case. |

But on a side note I think Hef did miss a great scratch-and-sniff opportunity. |

Apparently, Ebay is too prude to carry it, but Amazon has two copies of the issue for sale. Of course they are both listed as "used" so I guess it's a buyer beware type of deal. |
I saw John Water's "Polyester" with a scratch and sniff card addition. That was enough scratch and sniff to last a lifetime.

Seems like a good place to point to this article about Smell-o-vision. Because surely the 50th time someone tries to make it happen will be the time everyone else won't say, "Umm, no one wants that."

Oh, and when the Smell-O-Vision comes out, it will only ship with three titles: Polyester Soarin' Over California WWF Wrestling. I'm buying one ! |
Spy Kids 4 will be released in 'AromaScope'.

I used to work in a printing plant that could apply scratch and sniff (it was all clean - no Hustler). One of our clients was The Gas Company and we used to print these cards that they would pass out at elementary schools so that the kids could learn what natural gas smelled like so they could identify a gas leak. No one wanted to be in the pressroom the days that these were being run
