Ticket/AP Increases as of Sunday - a lot

Link Here. Significant price increases. Premium will go up to $649. Ack.

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 05:05 PM

Ya I know Matt doesn't want to renew. With me out of work I'm considering either downgrading to the next lower level pass or else either renewing tomorrow or else when ours comes up for renewal putting a huge chunk down. I won't be able to hang out with my friend now who lives down by Disneyland (she gets in for free because her brother is a cast member ). Guess its time to takes break from Disney....this is not good news...I better make sure I go often between now and august

Stan4dSteph 05-18-2012 05:20 PM

Increase on the Premium is 30%. Premier (DL and WDW) is going up 13%. SoCal Select has the highest percent increase of 35%. Parking pass is going up to $129 (30% increase).

katiesue 05-18-2012 05:33 PM

Ours are up in December. We've always gotten premium as we go on Saturdays a lot. This pretty much prices us out for a while unless I win the lotto.

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 05:41 PM

Ya exactly I was going n Saturdays to hang out with my friend who gets in for free...but now that I'm not working a lower level pass might work but that's still a lot of money for much less. Guess it might be after August it for us for Disney for awhile...

Moonliner 05-18-2012 06:50 PM

Guess that billion dollars has to come from somewhere.

€uroMeinke 05-18-2012 06:54 PM

Yikes that's more than a couple weekends in Palm Springs, a music festival and several museum memberships. I sense a hiatus coming on.

Ghoulish Delight 05-18-2012 07:54 PM

Considering that by the time we renew we would technically have to buy a 3rd pass as well.....gonna have to make the most of these next 7 months.

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 08:01 PM

Ours expire at the start of August but come to think of it if they offer monthly payments it breaks down to not that much more a month than we pay now. Plus we go more than once during the Xmas holiday season as it is.

BarTopDancer 05-18-2012 08:14 PM

I'm out. T-minus 1 month.

Those seem like they would add up to more. Hope you guys have fun at the Cars Land thing.

My pass is good until January, and I will probably renew due to MousePlanet and runDisney stuff, but I don't have a lot of other stuff to spend on around here.

FYI, if your pass expires this year you can buy a voucher now at the lower price and then wait to activate it after your current pass expires. You just have to activate it before December 31.

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 08:26 PM

Still with the monthly payment plan it still comes out to way less than even a 1 day 1 park ticket. Especially considering when I go to a movie it's $12 plus what I spend at the consession stand on popcorn and drinks...(thankfully I only am planing on seeing a couple of movies and have a gift card to use for them)...

I'm going to try to go as much as I can and the renew possibly for the last time

OOo that got me to go look. If your pass is up in the next 30 days or so you can get the old pricing plus renewal discount, PAP is $479, Deluxe is $359. Currently scouring the budget to see if I can come up with the monthly payment plan if you renew before the 20th

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 08:47 PM

Lucky ours isn't up for renewal until after that time period grrrr

Well, I'm considering the price of 2 APs

keith - SuPeR K! 05-18-2012 10:29 PM

I was hoping to renew tomorrow since I once in the past accidentally renewed for 2 years and they sent me 2 APs, one for the current year and one for the next, but now I'm hearing they have a 30 day window... *sigh*

I'm still getting a Premium. I don't care. I need Premium.

madmonkeygirl 05-18-2012 10:57 PM

Exactly...to me I'm willing to renew one last year (unless prices do not go up as drastically next year but I have a feeling they will) so for one more year. Especially since I'm no longer working and trying to save up for next spring when Bon Jovi goes on tour hopefully...

I will just cut back on some of the other things and expensives. I can't see not going to Disneyland.

Just buy the voucher, then redeem when your current pass expires.

Betty 05-19-2012 05:54 AM

We haven't had passes since the socal $99 deal they had a decade or so ago. We lived right down the street and went all the time. Even for just an hour or two. I'd take the kids on a weeknight in winter and we'd be the only ones riding Pirates and Mansion. (my fav's)

We're too far for it to be worth it now - and I'm far less tolerant of crowds that I used to be to want to go the majority of the time. (seriously - how can you stand to stand in line for hours packed in with everyone like that?)

There's always other places to hang out... off road jeep places for example. ;)

(Yes - I'm a little jealous and wish I had passes too. ;P )

lashbear 05-19-2012 07:18 AM

I probably wont renew my pass this year. ;) (Yes, I have one.... it's just for DLRP, thats all...)

innerSpaceman 05-19-2012 11:05 AM

I'm gonna have a chat with Beaumark about this. We rarely go to the Park anymore - but that's magnified because his pass expired a couple of months ago. Mine ends in mid-August - so if he doesn't see us going enough next year to warrant it, we may bow out. If we decide to go all in, I guess he'll have to get his renewed today. Bah.

€uroMeinke 05-19-2012 11:46 AM

Bah

Kevy Baby 05-19-2012 01:53 PM

Humbug

innerSpaceman 05-20-2012 06:49 AM

Guess I'm out. Ran out the clock with no purchase of Beaumark's AP. Mine expires mid-August. Technically, I suppose i have till July 1 to renew at current prices, but that's not likely if my bf has no AP. Plus we rarely used ours this past year.

Looks like Disneyland Birthday may be my next visit, and my last for a very long time.

madmonkeygirl 05-20-2012 09:50 AM

Sorry to hear that...bummer...

BarTopDancer 05-20-2012 09:57 AM

Thanks to some enabling and peer pressure over on FB I renewed, Chris & Lisa renewed.

Really hope knowing that this will really be the final year will get us there more, do enjoy the place that brought us all together). First stop will be June 15th for Cars Crazyland madness.

lindyhop 05-20-2012 12:44 PM

My son said there was a run on Premiere passes yesterday which (he explained to me) are the combined Disneyland/Disney World AP's.

madmonkeygirl 05-20-2012 01:33 PM

Ya Matt and I are discussing the Premier passes because for a bit more we'd be covered for a trip to WDW especially when if Southwrst offers specials again would make a last minute trip to WDW I the cards.

If you can do both resorts in the same 365 days it's totally worth it.

blueerica 05-22-2012 09:50 AM

I just checked out the prices.

Ouch.

Kevy Baby 08-13-2012 06:35 PM

Here's what I need to find out: if I want to upgrade my pass from Deluxe (which I purchased at the old price of $379), will it cost $120 (the difference at the time I purchased my pass) or $270 (difference between current PAP [$649]) and what I paid [$379])?

I need to stop by the ticket booth and find out.

BarTopDancer 08-13-2012 06:37 PM

When I did that a year or so ago you paid the difference between what you paid and what it is now. Sucks.

How long until it expires? May be more cost effective to buy several block-out day tickets.

From my understanding, it'll be the $270. Sorry. If you had upgraded before the price spike it would have been the $120. I upgraded in the 8th month once, and it was the full difference, not 4 months worth of difference. They get you every way they can....

Morrigoon 08-14-2012 12:11 AM

It seems like, if they're not going to prorate it even though it's only good through the end of the original pass, the least they could do is not prorate it FROM the price it would have been if you'd bought it then.

innerSpaceman 08-14-2012 10:34 AM

My AP expires Thursday. It may be a looooong time before I renew.

(Or it may be soon after summer ends ... just don't know at this point ... but for the first time in a long time, the pricetag IS an issue for me.)

Moonliner 08-14-2012 11:04 AM

For what's it's worth, here is what Disney had to say on the matter.....

alphabassettgrrl 08-15-2012 03:08 PM

So it's not a good idea to upgrade a pass in the middle of your term. Got it.

Kevy Baby 08-15-2012 03:40 PM

I went to the ticket booth last night and confirmed that for me to upgrade, I would need to pay the difference between what I paid before the increase and the current price for the Premium; in this case $270.

I would have been fine with the difference between Deluxe and Premium when I purchased or current, but not the $270. And I didn't expect it to be pro-rated - I knew that from experience.

KERRY: I have upgraded "mid-term" before (often used as my two-payment plan): I've just never dealt with a price increase before.

Moonliner 08-15-2012 03:43 PM

Zina you lying bitch!

Kevy Baby 09-01-2012 09:53 AM

One other element of the price increases: Blockout Day Passes are $70

LSPoorEeyorick 09-01-2012 01:30 PM

$70???!!! Gouging.

It's a 45% discount off a 1-day park hopper (which is essentially what you're buying).

alphabassettgrrl 09-01-2012 05:38 PM

Wow.

I upgraded my son's pass with about a month left to go once. Big mistake.
