brush/ floss or floss/brush?
 

Which to do first? Floss or brush?

And along the same line, dust then vacuum or vacuum then dust?

Brush/floss. No justification, just the way the habit formed.

brush, no floss
dust then vacuum

Brush/floss - Brushing gets most stuff out, then floss gets the rest.

Dust/ vacuum - any dust knocked to the floor then gets picked up.

Floss - Brush

I brush then dust
Vacuum is always followed by flossing

Now that I think about it, flossing is always followed be mirror cleaning......

Floss/Brush. I used to Brush/Floss until I realized that if anything was still stuck down there after brushing, I'd brush again after the flossing.

I think my dentist also recommended flossing, then brushing. But it's counterintuitive to me, so I will forever brush then floss.


There's no such choice for dust then vacuum. D'uh. Do you want to vacuum up the dust or not?

Ahh but the vacuum stirs up dust from the floor. Since I rarely do either it doesn't matter so much.

I've always felt that flossing get's stuff out of the deep recesses and then brushing finishes the job of getting it removed from the oral cavity.

So, floss then brush.

Like I said, brush than floss for me with no real reason, though as I thought about it I don't really relish the idea of sticking my hands in my mouth before brushing.

However I actually read a compelling reason, described by a dentist to floss first. Fluoride. If you don't floss first, the bits of teeth that have not had stuff removed from them won't be exposed to the fluoride from toothpaste. So floss first to expose as much surface as possible.

I read that a week or two ago. I have yet to remember it in time to break the muscle memory habit of brushing first.

Just one more example of how much better your life would be if you listened to me a little more often.

Nice try, but it's not about getting the stuff off - that happens with either order. It's about getting the stuff off in the right order to expose the surface.

Hmm, I recently switched to floss then brush in the morning, but kept brush then floss after lunch. Maybe I'll go exclusively floss-brush in future (but I suppose the best thing would be to add floss to the bedtime brush, when all I can seem to manager is brushing)

You're brushing too much.

My pattern of brush on the 1st of the month and floss on the 15th might commonly be thought of as "brush then floss" but when you consider that I got my first tooth on the 9th it confuses the situation.

Ugh, hands after flossing before brushing. I can't wash 'em fast enough.

Since this thread began, and I wrote my entry, I had switched to floss first, then brush. I felt the brushing was more effective when I got the big stuff out of the way. I then use mouthwash which also happends to get more out. And I follow that with hand sanitizer.









For the hands, silly.....

Am I supposed to wash my hands after I floss?

Next you'll tell me I need to wash my hands after visiting the restroom!
