Saul Zaentz - Won 3 Academy Awards, but more importantly is the producer of the animated Hobbit and Lord of the Rings movies from the '70s. And those, while not all that great, are much better than four out of five Peter Jackson Tolkein movies so far.

Lol......actually that was her stepmther Maria Kutchera. The Maria that just passed was the second oldest child of George Von Trapp....she was portrayed as "Louisa" in the movie to avoid confusion :)

Casey Kasem
That was the first time that I knew days in advance that a famous person was going to pass away. He could not speak, so the man with the golden voice had been silent for quite a while. He had no quality of life, and it was time. But it is still very sad, and his current wife only made things worse from the sound of it.

  • Pleasant Valley Sunday
  • Who Put the Bomp (in the Bomp, Bomp, Bomp)
  • Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You're Going To)
  • Tonight, I Celebrate My Love
  • Saving All My Love for You
to name just a few

Mary Rodgers (83)
Daughter of computer Richard Rodgers (of & Hammerstein fame), she was a gifted composer herself. She wrote music for Once Upon a Mattress, The Mad Show, and The Madwoman of Central Park West, among others. She also contributed songs to Free to Be... You and Me.

She wrote the children's book Freaky Friday which was made into a feature film in 1976, for which Rodgers wrote the screenplay.

She's also the mother of Tony-winning composer Adam Guettel.
