It's always printers!

True story. Nearly 6 weeks ago I ordered a new printer.

I went through ridiculous nonsense with delays and stupid customer support to get it.

It arrived today.

The day I brought the LoT back to life.

What.
The.
F*ck.

The universe is trying to tell you something.

ROFL!

Six weeks? To order a printer? That is outrageous.

We ordered a black and white laser printer, and when we went to install it....

No, I can’t say.

Oh, alright...

Spoiler:
It worked first try.

Yes...that consumer printer industry standards are garbage and the pieces of **** need to be replaced too often.

katiesue 08-10-2018 08:47 AM

Totally agree with you. All mine seem to crash at just over the warranty mark. Until the last one. After buying not super expensive but not bottom of the line printers and having them not last very long I went with a $70 model. 6 years and still going.

Ghoulish Delight 08-10-2018 08:56 AM

Interesting. I went the opposite direction this time. Going closer to top of the line (helped by having a hefty rewards credit at Dell after buying a TV).

But I'm also taking a technology risk - got an Epson "EcoTank" printer. Most of our issues with the past couple printers have been around ink-cartridge hell. Between the cost of genuine cartridges, the ****tiness of the cheap third-party cartridges, and the fact that we print so rarely that 30% of the ink is spent deep-cleaning heads every time I want to print I had enough.

The EcoTank printers don't have cartridges. You get ink in bulk bottles and fill tanks. Supposedly more reliable? We'll see. Filling the tanks is a fun operation - but holy crap is it nerve wracking handling a huge bottle of that ink. One bobble and my office is a cyan nightmare.

We've had trouble with ink cartridges, too. It's been cheaper to buy a new printer than new cartridges. Good thing we don't print very often.

Well, when I had an update in Windows 10 and installed new office software, my printer no longer prints, it spits out blank pages and I cannot get my Comcast email to work in Outlook 2016. Still trying to figure it out.
