Konichiwa, JoeInJpn

Well, our international recruting arm is in full swing it seems. Referred by mousepod, our newest member is JoeInJpn. Me thinks the Swanktastic Four have made a new friend in their travels.

Welcome, and congratulations on being our first member from Asia! :snap:

Have a cup of joe :coffee: , or perhaps you'd prefer a warm sake.

wendybeth 06-09-2005 08:37 AM

Hi, Joe!

So, you met the swanky quad, but decided to join anyway?;)

(Don't mind me- serious jealousy issues here- they've been posting fabulous pictures all week and a person has limits, you know.)

So, they haven't been thrown in jail or anything yet, have they? Not caused any international incidents? Just checking.....

Welcome!!!!:D

Cadaverous Pallor 06-09-2005 08:38 AM

Wow! How cool is that! WTG, Fantastic Four!

Welcome Joe - if you're willing to trust those odd looking characters, then you're a friend of mine! ;)

MerryPrankster 06-09-2005 09:04 AM

"At the welcome lounge to the chest where the friendship here we are warm. The inside you most oneself of the warmth it includes our complete bands of friendship, all always it is welcomed in order to touch our bubble fingers before the contest which plays."

That's beautiful, man. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Now, I need to go wash my bubble fingers before lunch.

surfinmuse 06-09-2005 11:00 AM

???????????????????????????????????swank ???????

[Welcome to Lounge of Tomorrow. Here's wishing you much swank at every turn and every post.] Transliteration reads: Welcome to Lounge of Tomorrow. Here many swank are desired with all revolutions and all posts.

Oh hey, my Japanese text didn't appear... is it because I'm a second-class Mac citizen in the world of computers?

Guess this calls for an alternate solution:

Cadaverous Pallor 06-09-2005 11:13 AM

Oh, so THAT explains the question marks. I was confuzzled.

Now I understand the contest which plays.

Welcome into our warm bosom of friendship here at the lounge. Our full girth of friendship shall embrace your inner most self with warmth and you are always welcome to touch our foam fingers prior to any sporting contest.

Ok, now it's even funnier. :D

Matterhorn Fan 06-09-2005 05:02 PM

Was Moonliner's post supposed to show Japanese characters? I just see a bunch of boxes, and I thought that was the joke.

Are you on a Mac? It seems that PC's can "see" it and Mac's cannot.

Hey, that's cool, all us PC'ers can use it as a secret code to hide stuff from Mac users. ;)

私達のコンピュータは最もよい!

Matterhorn Fan 06-09-2005 05:14 PM

No, I'm on a PC, but it's five years old. It just doesn't display those characters, I guess.

Oh yeah--welcome, Joe.

CoasterMatt 06-09-2005 05:35 PM

Welcome Joe!

Drince88 06-09-2005 06:01 PM

Welcome, Joe!

Ghoulish Delight 06-09-2005 07:02 PM

If your PC doesn't have the Japanese character set installed, it shows as boxes.

I think that's the same deal on the Mac side. I could see the characters in the posts, but not when I previewed my own post.

Kevy Baby 06-09-2005 07:23 PM

On a Mac. See the Japanese characters.

Cadaverous Pallor 06-09-2005 09:28 PM

On my work Mac this morning all I saw was question marks. On my home PC I have half boxes, half Japanese characters! Apparently my PC knows some Japanese. :D

wendybeth 06-09-2005 09:42 PM

Placing odds now on whether or not NA and €uro claim ownership of the LoT, after this thread.
:D

Back on topic- hi again, Joe! So, ya gonna post, or did the girthy foam finger welcome scare you off? ;)

So just to bring this conversation full circle....

You are now required to rename your PC: blueerica

I don't think he exists.

JoeInJpn 06-10-2005 12:49 AM

Hajimemashte (Nice to meet you)!

My goodness guys and gals! MousePod and NotAfraid invited me to these boards. Thanks for the great welcome! This thread had already reached 3 pages before I found it! Yikes! My apologizes for being such a slow poke, I'll just blame it on the time difference... yeah, that's that ticket! Since you all took the time to welcome me, the least I can do in say thanks to each and every one of you.... READY?

GOULISH DELIGHT:
Thanks and it's a pleasure to be the first among the 2.5 billion in Asia to register at LoT!

WENDYBETH:
Well, I did meet them all. And they all surrounded me so I couldn't escape. Finally, MousePod made me promise to join the board or else I'm doomed. Heheheh. Just kidding. Thanks for the welcome!

CADAVEROUS PALLOR:
What nice company you keep! The Fantastic Four were lots of fun but too bad I had to leave the park in the afternoon to go to work. Sigh.. Perhaps we can say hi at Disneyland in July!

MERRYPRANKSTER:
Oh, you've had one of those Sapporo's too eh? If you make it out here, I'll treat ya!

BLUEERICA:
Thanks for the quickie greeting. Cool CLERKS shot.

MOONLINER:
日本語は上手ですよね。これからよろしくおねがいします。

SURFINMUSE:
えっ!君も日本語を話せますか?すごいね!よろしく!

MATTERHORN FAN:
Thanks for the welcome. For many of us "gaijin" here in Japan, written Japanese always looks like a bunch of boxes and squiggly lines! LOL!

COASTERMATT:
Funny avatar! Glad to be here.

DRINCE88:
Another Sapporo drink! The invite applies to you to! Thanks.

KEVY BABY:
I was waiting for someone to greet me like that. It happened when I first went to college, when I first went to Europe, when I first got to Japan. Man, Hendrix is universal! Thanks!

Phew!!!! I think I got all of you there. As for my delay, I signed up late the other night and just lurked around. But I am here and I am real, or so I think! Anyway, just to let everyone know, I'll be in SoCal for DL's 50th Annivesary July 13-19. And, shameless plug time, feel free to visit my Tokyo Disney site at http://www.jtcent.com

Thanks again for the great welcome everyone. I feel the love.... must be the MOJO! Jaa ne (See ya)!

Joe

welcome Joe! :)

Cadaverous Pallor 06-10-2005 08:43 AM

Awesome! He didn't cower in fear! ;)

Joe, it's great to have you here. Now we'll have another person to post at (what seems to us as) odd hours. You'll need to "meet" our Australian buddies, Lashbear and UvaGirl. :)

Your English is perfect - are you a transplant from the west?

Ooh, just noticed that your site links to MouseInfo! So you're no stranger to the Disney internet community. Very cool.

Can't wait to meet you at the 50th!

Ghoulish Delight 06-10-2005 08:47 AM

Psst, UvaGirl's a Kiwi. And "gaijin" is Japanese for "goy" (foreigner).

You know, he really is my better half.

JoeInJpn 06-10-2005 09:34 AM

Hello Cadaverous Pallor,

Thanks for the cool comments. Actually, I'm from Southern California, so going to DL in July really will be a homecoming for me! My folks still live 20 minutes away. Also, I've already met Lashbear when he visited in March. Nice folks those Aussies. :D

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 06-10-2005 09:55 AM

Joe, what an awesome delight it is to find you here. Welcome.

Gn2Dlnd 06-10-2005 12:48 PM

Ahoy, Joe! *toot!* Welcome aboard, er, ashore! Or wherever you are!

Prudence 06-10-2005 01:39 PM

I, Prudence, official vagina correspondent for LoT officially bid you welcome to this strange and frightening place.

[continued derail] No. I got as far as the first 2 or 3 posts and deemed it NSFME. Same with the "he's got an iron rod shoved through him, but he's going to be just fine" thread. [/continued derail]

jdramj 06-10-2005 08:15 PM

OK back to the thread at hand....hehehehe

Welcome Joe!

Motorboat Cruiser 06-11-2005 12:35 AM

Welcome, Joe. Glad you made it here! :)

Not Afraid 06-12-2005 08:09 PM

YAY! Joe is here! It was GREAT spending time with you at TDS! You are a great guide (and a great guy)!. I'm glad you entered the fray that is LoT.

Welcome!

€uroMeinke 06-12-2005 10:50 PM

Welcome Joe, it was great having you as our guide at TDS. I'm looking forward to seeing you again in July.

wendybeth 06-12-2005 11:08 PM

Actually, I think we scared him off. I blame Prudence.;):D

Ironically, all I see (on my Mac) is a bunch of question marks.

Ditto

And I am fairly certain that I did not surpress or delete any character sets.
