If I had $300 to buy one item of clothing today I would buy..............

OK, I go virtual shopping quite a bit. I am pretty selective about what I buy - most of the time - but sometimes I just really want something that I will probably never buy (for one reason or another).

I KNOW I'm not the only one who does this, so this is your outlet to express your outrageous desires. Pick one item each day, link to it and share it. We can all live vicariously through our extravagences. ;)

My choice for the day is: Marc Jacobs Skimmer

I think I'd choose either the Red or the Green (I adore that puke green).

There, I feel better now.

Post yours. You can have ONE extravagence per day (at least in this thread ;) )

dsnylndmom 01-13-2005 02:04 PM

Ohhhhhhh I'm all over this! :D

Mine would be
In Berry please!

And I'd be under $300 since it's on sale at Dillards! Change in my pocket!

libraryvixen 01-13-2005 02:21 PM

I do not know why... but this scarf has always been (and will be for a pretty long time), out of my reach. I think it looks nice, classic and very very warm.Burberry Scarf

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 01-13-2005 02:40 PM

Oh, I love this idea. Maybe I'll actually curb my spending this way.

http://store.dictionaryoutlet.com/index.html

But I want the actual 2-book set. Not the cd-rom.

UvaGirl 01-13-2005 03:05 PM

Right now, probably this suit. I need a suit for work:rolleyes: :

I Heart You Eliza! :D

With the change I get back from my scarf, I'll get you a couple of those magnifying glass thingies for the dictionaries.

SacTown Chronic 01-13-2005 03:22 PM

20 pairs of shoes from Payless ShoeSource.

SacTown Chronic 01-13-2005 03:30 PM

D'oh!

I'm supposed to buy one item of clothing.

Make that one pair of shoes from Payless with rubies embedded in them.

Prudence 01-13-2005 03:30 PM

Since we're already off clothing, I'd buy:http://www.avthinginitsplace.com/Mer...IP/PROD/CD-144

SusieP. 01-13-2005 03:31 PM

Peacoat

I would like this coat, but the longer one they used to have. This will do for now though. I could almost get one in each color for $300!

Not Afraid 01-13-2005 03:34 PM

Just a note: I said clothing, but, really, it's about what you are desiring TODAY - and I'm not talking sexy men or women either. So, everyone's been cool so far - Except Sac. We MUST have a little talk, ok? ;)

MerryPrankster 01-13-2005 03:37 PM

http://www.sunglassesportal.com/deta...27&rangeid=132

These are not nearly as swanky as the pair I tried on at the optomotrist's office (of all places) yesterday. But I do like them, with some change to spare.

I heart you, as well.

You've been Yahooooooooooooed, btw.

Kevy Baby 01-13-2005 04:17 PM

I've always wanted a long (down to my boots) leather coat. I wouldn't even know where to begin looing for a link, so you'll just have to imagine it.

Don't they already come with the magnifying glass?

MerryPrankster 01-13-2005 05:31 PM

Ummm, I'm enjoying this thread too much. I already have my shopping done for the next three days. NA, I dig those green flats.

Claire 01-13-2005 06:30 PM

Two more pairs of Citizens of Humanity jeans. I love mine, but at $150 a pop, I'm not buying them all that often.....

Ooooh, but on this thread, I could buy two more pairs tomorrow! :D

Depends on the set. If they came with the magnifying glass, then she'll just have a couple more. If they didn't... then, she's lucky my scarf yielded some change!! :D

MerryPrankster 01-14-2005 09:33 AM

Here's my pick for today. I really could use it in a larger size, though. I guess that will have to wait for my $400.00 virtual shopping day...

I am going to spread the wealth today.

First, this pair of Gucci sunglasses would do me fine (at $160).

Then, I think I might like to try this dress, at $140.

Awwww, shoppings over for today - and it's just after Noon!

Claire 01-14-2005 01:50 PM

I bought my two new pairs of Citizens yesterday......so I decided to accessorize today. I saw this at the Coach store the other day, and I must now spend my imaginary $268 on it today.......tomorrow, I think I'll find some shoes or a coat.

My remaining $32 from today will go to a nice lunch here:

http://www.urbanfondue.com/

Mmmmm.......soooo......goood!! Then I'll skip next door to Bartini for a little raspberry infused martini action and what the hey...still have ten dollars, I'll buy martinis for my new friends at the bar ($3 martinis til six and hot people to look at!).

Did you mean to type "20" there? I want the CD-rom, since I don't have room for 20 dictionaries.

I have the 2-volume set--the "Shorter" OED. It's nice. And affordable. I think I paid about £75. No magnifying glass necessary. Then again, "Shorter" means they took most of the quotations out.

mamabot 01-14-2005 02:52 PM

I really need an iPod case. This is the best picture I could find of the one I want. Of course, I would have to have a coordinating case for my palm pilot and a small wallet to match.

Tomorrow: The purse!

MickeyD 01-14-2005 05:56 PM

This please.

dsnylndmom 01-14-2005 06:50 PM

Can't decide between
This

or
This

MerryPrankster 01-15-2005 02:31 PM

Because I could never have enough handbags:

$148.00

And the Embroidered Coat to go with:

$118.00
And the Beetle Brooch:
$19.50

All from the Spring 2005 Gap collection. Maybe I'll "buy" the Suede flowered ballet flats tomorrow. I hope I'm not getting too carried away here.

dsnylndmom 01-15-2005 03:11 PM

Still feeling the cashmere so today I'm going for this
love it

And for a little color I'll add this
a little Pucci please!

Claire 01-15-2005 03:29 PM

Celine croc pumps $214 (sale!)

Coach cosmetics case $68

With my leftover cash, I'd head over to Starbucks.....twice. ;)

MerryPrankster 01-15-2005 03:44 PM

Cute, cute, cute!! I love looking at everyone's picks! So much fun! :)

Btw, I'll be shopping with Claire up in Oregon -- no sales tax! 8.75% sales tax on $300.00 a day really adds up fast! :D

mamabot 01-15-2005 07:12 PM

Gemini Cricket 01-15-2005 07:22 PM

I'd buy two pairs of boots:

A pair of Blundstone boots

and

a pair of Sorel boots.

For the hiking and the snow that awaits me in Boston.
:)

MickeyD 01-15-2005 08:42 PM

Jeans, two pair. 1 7's & 1 CoH.

MickeyD 01-16-2005 12:01 PM

Sand, not lime.

dsnylndmom 01-16-2005 01:12 PM

I know we're supposed to buy clothes, but today I'm spending all $300.00 at Sephora. :p Need some makeup/fragrance to go with my new sweater, bag and scarf

MerryPrankster 01-16-2005 01:40 PM

I'm editing my watch purchase, I found it on sale w/a black strap:

Elini New Yorker

Reg. $299.00, Sale $239.00

So now I can add another strap:

$40.00

Not Afraid 01-16-2005 01:51 PM

I'm in the market for a new evening dress. Since I didn't buy ahything yesterday, I'm going to splurge a bit today and see if I like these tomorrow:

This Laundry by Shelly Segal dress is is $245

And, I might just add some color (oh my!) - BCBG Max Azria at $252 (Dump the rabbit fur bolero, please)

Of course, I did some REAL shopping yesterday - but a necessary purchase. New Nicole Miller eyeclasses. However, no picture can I find anywhere! :(

blueerica 01-16-2005 02:03 PM

Claire 01-16-2005 02:07 PM

$99 Theory camisole from Saks

Cynthia Rowley Vanessa Doctor bag....$225....I'm over my $300! :(

Means I have $24 less for shopping tomorrow? ;) I have my eye on a pair of Prada slides.....or ballet flats.....that'll take up my full $276!

FEJ 01-16-2005 02:12 PM

I would rock these

UvaGirl 01-16-2005 02:51 PM

Hmmmm...I'm liking these and these are kind of cute too.

With my leftover $$ I might pick up this:)

blueerica 01-16-2005 03:12 PM

I'm digging ALL of this...

I need to get two new pairs of boots over the next week, though..

tigertail777 01-16-2005 03:19 PM

hmm didnt realize this would be a almost excusively womens thread (hey some guys like to shop too)

IF I could find one at $300, one of the original tiki room souvineer hawaiian shirts from disneyland. I love hawaiian shirts, and I really dig those old 60's ones they made for tiki room.

MerryPrankster 01-16-2005 03:50 PM

I can't stop thinking about the $141.00 I didn't use up on the first day. I didn't know we could make multiple purchases to reach the $300.00 mark. So....I'm going to pick up a few pairs of shoes today (if that's okay). :D

Gap Suede Flower Ballet Flats $39.50

And this interesting find at Neiman's, just strange enough to blow my remaining $$ on....

Lilly Pulitzer Lace-up Sneaker Mule - Reg. $170.00, Sale $102.00

These are actually pink with green. :)

Claire 01-16-2005 04:06 PM

Gayle, I secretly love all things Lilly P. :o Sssshhh, don't tell anyone. I even checked out this gigantic book from the library that was a pink/green nightmare of yummyness!! I LOVED it, but I got a "look" when I checked it out. It's a "lifestyle" book with all of Lilly's favorite things....food, decorating, shopping, entertaining. I kept it for six weeks....thinking about buying my own copy. I loved it!!

Your secret is safe with me! :) I'm going to check the price on the Lilly book at Overstock.com -- you know, the big O. I love the green and pink combo. It would be adorable for a little girl's room. Unfortunately, I don't think my husband would appreciate me redecorating our boudoir in the color scheme. But I am thinking that my new LP sneaker mules are going to look great with my new green coach bag. ;)

Claire 01-17-2005 11:49 AM

Okay I only have $276 to work with today (my husband was dying over this thread last night....thought it was hilarious that I was the first to work on credit!):

Diane Von Furstenberg Empire Waisted Dress $275
I'll work on the shoes again tomorrow....I just saw this dress while "shopping" yesterday and had to have it!

dsnylndmom 01-17-2005 12:13 PM

I think I'm going for Luggage today! I'll spend my extra $$ on Starbucks! :p

I like this one alot

MerryPrankster 01-17-2005 12:28 PM

These might be a little "old skool", but I always wanted a pair of Ferragamos. I worked at a swanky shoe store in SF in the '80s and sold Ferragamos to the swanky "ladies that lunch" and the "urban professionals".

I think I could build a few swanky outfits around these, starting with the shoes. These would also be marvelous for a martini lunch! :)

Salvatore Ferragamo - Deco Skimmer $290.00

I'll put my change torwards some fresh cut flowers.

Claire 01-17-2005 12:32 PM

Tina....quit linking me to purses....I spend all my time on Coach and Dooney anymore!!! :D

Gayle--I love Ferragamos! My nine year old wears a women's size five, so it's always fun to take her to shoe sales, so she can try on deeply discounted Ferragamos (We're talking $50!). I live through her feet. I'm afraid to try them on. If I do, I'll have to purchase. And they're NOT $50.

Does your Nordstom carry Ferragamos? If so, do you find them at your Nordstrom outlet too? They don't seem to carry them online anymore. I need to start checking the "real life" sales, I wear a size 6. I do practically all my shopping online these days. I did not step ino a mall over the holidays.

Absolutely! That's actually what I was referring to....Nordstrom Rack! She gets to try on Kate Spade pumps and Ferragamo slides and Donald Pliner wedges! I'm probably damaging her.....she'll end up a Carrie Bradshaw, but it's so much fun! She did get a pair of DP flat slides in the fall....hope she still fits in them by the spring....they're really cute!

UvaGirl 01-17-2005 01:53 PM

Arrrgh! Get thee to Saks.com and check out this!

Totally adorable, and in heaps of different shades/styles. Plus, it's just under the $300 limit;)

Not Afraid 01-17-2005 02:29 PM

I'm going to go with something just for Spring (since it seems to be 82 degrees already).

The Jewelry - odd color for me, but it will look good with black and whites that I love. All three pieces for $115!

Then I'll buy this to top it off.

Oh, and IF I was going to go to one of those Ice Storm parties where you put your keys in a bowl, I'd buy this. ;)

MickeyD 01-17-2005 02:47 PM

I'm in the mood for jewelry.

Today, I want this.

And I'll save the extra $125 for tomorrow.

Not Afraid 01-17-2005 06:13 PM

And, why didn't I think of looking at Neimans for more Lulu Guiness? I know what I'll be buying tomorrow!

blueerica 01-17-2005 06:21 PM

I like the little grey ones shown here. $89.95

The yellow boot is MINE! :) $100.00

The only "choice" they're giving is brown, but I'd want the black or the red. Since I already own black boots, and since I'm getting $300 tomorrow, I'm going with the red. $69.00

dsnylndmom 01-17-2005 06:52 PM

For today:

Abs by Allen Swartz Tweed dress $225.00

12mm Pearl stud earrings, pink $60.00

I'll spend the change at Trader Joe's. :p

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 01-18-2005 03:39 PM

I'd like something Zac Posen designed.

I bet it costs more than $300 though. Le sigh.

I love your lines, Zac!

And this would by my Key Party dress, if it were designed by my buddy Zac Posen.

Of course, I'd also need him to design me a better body to get away with wearing a dress like this, but I have a lot of faith in him.

MickeyD 01-18-2005 03:41 PM

Ok, I saved up $125 dollars from yesterday so I can buy these earrings.

UvaGirl 01-18-2005 07:18 PM

In lieu of clothes today I want this. With the spare $$ I'll pick up a couple of goodies from their store ~ maybe this:) God, I want to go to this place sometime.

Claire 01-18-2005 07:26 PM

I want these earrings. Freshwater pears $265.

I'll bank the $35 for tomorrow.

I tried to find something on Patricia Field's site, as I'm going to a Sex & the City party in half an hour.....but I hated everything on her site!!! :( Yech! The store is much better!!

Not Afraid 01-18-2005 08:08 PM

Well, I'm going through a phase that everything I want is, well, out of my virtual budget. I know I can get a dress similar to these at Fred Segal on sale for just over $300, so that's what I'm wanting today.
It may not be this exact dress but it will be SOMETHING designed by Jovovich-Hawk. I just ADORE their sense of style and their modern take on vintage clothes.

MerryPrankster 01-18-2005 08:18 PM

^^^ Oooooh, I love it. The photography is beautiful too. I could definitely see you in that, Lisa. Very nice! :)

blueerica 01-18-2005 08:38 PM

$168.00

$98.00

$38.00....

Which brings me $14.00 over my limit, but I know I underspent yesterday, so we're calling this even! :)

--Erica

MerryPrankster 01-18-2005 08:56 PM

^^^ LOVE it!! Very swanky, my dear. Tamale red -- wowza!

Claire 01-19-2005 09:24 AM

MerryPrankster 01-19-2005 09:47 AM

I'm going to groove to The LoT Soundtrack wearing this:

Abs by Allen Swartz, Floral Dress with Tie $205.00

I'll carry this:

Both at Neiman Marcus.

Gap Suede Flower Ballet Flats $39.50

Merry Prankster!! Fashionable minds think alike!! I just bought those very same ballet flats in Spearmint. I also wanted a pair in Lemonade to match my indigo suede Isaac Mizrahi jacket with lemonade-coloured topstitching!! (Although it was muy tempting, I have so many pink shoes already! ;) )

I saw this the other day while shopping at Nordstrom! I fondled it's buttery soft, apple-green goodness until I had to be unwillingly yoinked away. :(

Until I get to hopefully *fingers crossed* have it in real life, I'm postin' it here to keep me motivated & happy!

Juicy Couture, I love thee!

:)

UvaGirl 01-20-2005 05:16 PM

NA inspired me to check out the anthropologie site today:)

Here's what I'm getting:

These & this & this:cool:

MerryPrankster 01-20-2005 06:16 PM

From Banana Republic:

Textured raw-edge blazer $218.00, Super soft lace camisole in bright pink $34.00, Imitation pearl cluster brooch $45.00

Prudence 01-20-2005 09:22 PM

I would get this in plum because I don't have time to sew any more and someone stepped on my skirt last event and I don't feel like making repairs.

Crap, I come on here to finally post something, but now i'm going to look like I'm just stalking Ally!!!

So here is my pick. I saw this earlier today and just logged on to post it now.

Morrigoon 01-20-2005 10:56 PM

I've been wanting some cords for casual comfort. Something non-jeans that's warm and comfy. And they're so cheap I could get 2 pair and still have most of the limit left!
http://store.nordstrom.com/product/p...True&pfindid=0

Umm... the dark berry color and... oh, either dark blue or beige. Hmm... beige could be nice...

MerryPrankster 01-21-2005 01:04 PM

Both at Nordstrom:

Laundry by Shelli Segal Swirl-Print Halter Dress, $215.00
Linea Paolo 'Daisy' Sandal, $74.95

Oh, no. I really do want this!

blueerica 01-21-2005 01:22 PM

With my savings from two days off from shopping, I have $900.00 to start with today. :)

Turquoise, please!

$210.00

$298.00

$200.00

Hmm.. I still have $192.00 to spend...

$95.00

Which leaves me with $97.00 that I'd like to spend on a pair of sunglasses, but I just can't choose... :D

Hehe!

Not Afraid 01-21-2005 01:34 PM

I just LOVE that dress, MP! ^^^^

There's something Pucci about it without being so bright! Very nice!

blueerica 01-21-2005 02:35 PM

I'm feeling very spring-like...

I'm ready for something bright on the horizon!

The pucci dress is fabulous!

dsnylndmom 01-21-2005 04:52 PM

Well I finally have a day to spend again and I'm going to have to borrow from tomorrow  But I love the dress so it's okay!

Prettiful!

Guess tomorrow I better find shoes! Found 'em so here's my shoes for tomorrow!

Claire 01-21-2005 05:22 PM

It hit 71 degrees here this afternoon, so I'm feeling very springy! :)

I didn't go "shopping" yesterday, so here's my $600 worth:

$99 (for the top) at Bloomingdales

Sevens $94.80!!! (I'm buying these in real life in a few minutes! It's a steal!!! I have this pair, but I've been wanting another!) http://www.bloomingdales.com/catalog...407*1*12*-1*-1

Lilly P straw handbag $135.

Michael Kors trench coat (in pink) on sale for $149!!!

Clarks....I know, I know....ugh.....mules....but they're in such cute colors!!! I want pistachio!

Morrigoon 01-21-2005 05:27 PM

Okay, if that purse is seriously going for $135... I've gotta get into pursemaking!

edit: I'm officially pissed off because when done up, I'm prettier than many of their models... what's with the ugly chicks? And where's my modeling contract? (and I'm so humble too!)

OMG! I want those! I will love clogs for ever - fashion be damned. Clark Clogs are the cream of the crop - and these a beautiful! I sort of like the blush color.

MerryPrankster 01-21-2005 06:17 PM

^^^ I love those babies too! Whaaaa...clogs out of style? NEVER. I'd have to throw out half of my shoe wardrobe.

Lots of nice stuff today, kittens. This thread just keeps getting better and better! :)

Morrigoon 01-21-2005 08:09 PM

Holy Moly! Very cute coat -- that is all I'm going to say. :D

Morrigoon 01-21-2005 08:26 PM

OMG, cracking up... this defies logic. That cute coat? It's a suede leather jacket with a faux fur collar. What's the point? LOL.

Not Afraid 01-22-2005 03:18 PM

OK. I'm feeling the need for some waardrobe basics from good ole BR. And, I was indecisive yesterday, so I've got some cash!

First, I can't resist this for $198:

Then this for $58:

Then add this for $48:

I MUST have this scarf for $25:

And this lovely, classic sweater for $68:

These cropped Jeans:

And, these pants (which I will get dirty in about 3 seconds!):

I think that will help get me through Spring and maybe even early summer.

Claire 01-23-2005 12:44 PM

Well, I skipped yesterday, so I have $600 today, right? Right? ;)

Well, this outfit is $668....so I somehow went over again. I must "have" it!!! I love it!!! :sigh: Ralph Lauren.

UvaGirl 01-25-2005 02:43 PM

I'm slightly over my limit today, but it's been a while: Marc Jacobs bag :)

dsnylndmom 01-25-2005 03:10 PM

Well I've missed 4 days so I have $1200 to spend :)

I want these
Hot Shoes!

and this bag
For Valentine's Day!

MerryPrankster 01-26-2005 10:34 AM

I haven't made any "purchases" since 1/21. So I have found something today that is worth 14 days of "stuff". I have 9 more days to go before I can collect my "purchase".

This is it, a top-of-the-line Precor Elliptical Cross Trainer:

http://www.healthstylesexercise.com/...Elliptical.htm

If I'm going to buy all these cool clothes, they better fit properly!

dsnylndmom 01-26-2005 11:08 AM

For today

PAMPERED PRINCESS PACKAGE
Roma Steam with Blanket Wrap, 1 1/2 hour Anti-Stress Massage, Contour Body Wrap, Spa Facial, Spa Manicure, Fancy Toes Pedicure & Spa Lunch. $290.00

Claire 01-26-2005 12:51 PM

Ooooh, i have $832!!! :D

It's $500 and heinous....so naturally I want it!!! Coach....sigh.

I am sooooo ready for spring. Can you tell??? :D $328 at Coach.

Not Afraid 01-26-2005 01:02 PM

I didn't have the desire to shop for a few, so I'm going cray at the Trina Turk boutique.

I want more large sunglasses.
Trian Turk glasses in BOTH colors please $168 apiece.

This lovely Trina TUrk handbag for $269:

And, this entire outfit for an additional $600:

Shopping was very satisfying today!:snap:

UvaGirl 01-30-2005 03:47 PM

Today I shall get these & these :)

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 01-30-2005 04:30 PM

I really like Banana Republic's line right now. I want, want, WANT this suit.

I also want, want, want the money to buy this suit.

http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse...ategory=200905

Contemporary suits don't normaly say "Audra Rosemary". This one just does. I don't like the top they chose, but the jacket is tres adorable.

Fie!

Thats a great looking suit.
Speaking of BR, I could spend $300 just buying their boxers and pajamas..

BarTopDancer 01-30-2005 09:12 PM

I'll take this outfit which is way more than $300 but I have like 2 weeks worth saved up :D

Claire 01-30-2005 11:49 PM

I haven't shopped in four days.......so I um.....put a down payment of $1200 on this:

UvaGirl 01-31-2005 04:06 PM

I need boots, so I'll get these today.

UvaGirl 02-08-2005 05:34 PM

Today I'm getting this scarf and a couple of these tops - I need some basics!:)

Stan4dSteph 02-21-2005 12:12 AM

Today I went to the factory store for Untouched World in Christchurch NZ. I got a merino wool, cashmere, angora blend sweater in a chocolate brown color. I also got a merino wool top (what they call Mountainsilk). Wonderful shopping day. :)

MerryPrankster 06-09-2005 08:04 AM

Hey, look what I dug up!

I've been looking for a cute pair of espadrilles, but $180.000 is a little more than I wanted to spend on a canvas shoe that will get thrashed. So I'll put them here:

Charles David 'Extol' at Nordstrom

I wish Costco carried this Maui Jim style (for less $, of course). I tried them on at Sunglass Hut:

Maui Jim Nani $169.95

€uroMeinke 06-23-2005 10:09 PM

The MSN spider reminded me of this thread - so far I've amased $48,600 - I could do a lot of traveling on that, but I think I may hold off - this could be my imaginary retirement fund.

UvaGirl 07-04-2005 02:36 PM

It's certainly not $300, but I'm quite liking this top :)

mistyisjafo 07-06-2005 12:18 AM

Dying to get my closet remodeled. Not For the Hall Closet but for my Room

Course I'm now getting my bathroom remodeled so that'll cost me a fortune so the closet will just have to wait. :(

Not Afraid 07-06-2005 12:26 AM

Sheesh. If I started on the things we need to do to our house, I'd spend my accumilation as well as Chris'. And, I bet I could at least commit to it being spent in a week.

I'd better stick with clothes for now. ;)
