July 17 DL Campout Details are up at MP
Attention all you birthday revelers. There is information on how DL is handling entry on July 17 up in today's MousePlanet DL Update. Here's the link.
Basically, if you want to be one of the first, the line starts at 2AM inside DCA. Happy camping! |
Looks like we'll all need to add wristbands of various colors and numberings to our survival packs.
|
First impression - at least the free ears will be different than the ones we already bought...
And I'm not camping out. Have fun to those who do :) |
There will be an new "window dedication" at Disneyland at 6am on Main Street, USA. Matt Ouimett will dedicate a window above the Main Street Cinema to the Disneyland Resort Cast Members in a special early morning ceremony on July 17th. i will make it to the ceremony, but, will miss out on the rest of the fun with you guys.
my request for "Authorized Day Off" was Denied as NA told me this morning, it is "All Hands On Deck"! |

This DCA thing has me perplexed. They say it's a line and not a party, yet their staffing some of the eateries. I'm also miffed that if they can do this, they could have easily done a 50 hour party and accomplished the same thing realizing more revenue.
I still doubt DCA will fill up with 70K people ready to flood the gates, but this sure makes it inviting to the folks their for the limited edition pin releases, so I have to perhaps double my camping guestimate from somewhere under 5K to somewhere under 10K (MAX). The "campers" will make this a party whether Disney wants to or not. Disney, since they opened DCA for this, will most likely do its best (spur-of-the-moment) to keep this fun for its guests. So it does make me wonder what I might miss out on, by not going to the DCA campout. |
They've got limited eateries open because they know not everyone will schlep enough food to last them from 2 AM on. It appears to be their attempt to at least control the goings on and head off any potential problems. It's a good idea, seeing as how I've seen my fair share of unruly lines in recent months waiting outside of various concerts.
They only need minimal amount of foods people and security to contain the line. |
Why did I just get a flash of the Jail Scene in PotC?
Trapped inside DCA, Tired, STARVING.....must get out! |
This could be fun. We could read Harry Potter outloud!
|
or Justine...
|
Camping out inside DISNEY'S CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE?! Was someone at TDA reading my wish list? Woohoo! I think I will be there! :)
|
we have our eye on you, Daniel:evil:

I'm psyched....to sleep in a bed the night before. :D |

Just don't stay at the hotel they have there at DCA, I hear creepy things happen there.. |
I see no reason not to haul ace out of our hotel bed at 4 am in order to make the line party but still get some sleep. Especially since the ticket booths will be open-- I was worried about how to attain our blackout tickets, and twilight hours make null that problem.
But the more important question: will they allow us to bring sports chairs into DCA for the campout? This could be a dealbreaker. |
I'm wondering if there will be rides open at DCA?

I'm going with the inflatable pool float idea. It's cheap, it packs small, and if need be, it could be tossed (though I'm cheap, so I'd probably hang on to it)

Hahah.
I'm just glad they figured out that opening a food location was a good idea |
Okay, I have a question.
Timon lot will be open all night to accomodate the DCA campout. What if one plans on going to the park on the 16th, staying until closing, and waiting for the DCA campout without going home? Where would such a person park on the 16th when they arrive? Will an exception for over-night parking be made for Mickey and Friends? |

The inflatable seat idea is a good one, Morrigoon! Quote:

BTW TheatreTech, just how long are you supposed to last on the 17th? ;)
|
Pool floats at Rite-Aid are $2.99.

If I can't get work moved around, I may not be staying for Sunday. But, either way I fully plan on being on Main Street Saturday at midnight, so I can technically say I was there on the 17th. |
We're going to try to be at the Esplanade at 2am. We don't really want to but I suppose it is better to be safe than sorry. Plus, this may be the best time to purchase our blockout tickets.
|
Aaack! Decisions, decisions. Will someone please make up my mind for me?
|
Okay Mousepod:
You're going to the Lost Bar meet at 10pm Saturday night, visiting for a few, then, with all your stuff in tow, going into DL before they close the gates so you can be in front of Coke Corner on Main Street at midnight, where I and anyone who cares to gather with me will be singing Happy Birthday to Disneyland. From there, you, I and everyone with us will be heading directly over to DCA to line up wherever they say in order to get into DCA when it opens. |
Sounds like I'm going to be floating like a Mickey balloon (and not those crappy mylar ones, either) from all the excitement. Perhaps I'll just tie a string around me and let someone pull me along...

There will NOT be 70,000 people there at 8am. I think you'd be more "sorry" if you didn't get any sleep and burned out at 1pm! Quote:
|
Yep, burnout is a very bad thing on a day when YOU CANNOT LEAVE THE PARK if you want to get back in before say, oh, 8pm.
I plan on getting a full four hours before I head over to DCA. |

I can't wait for an all-night geek-fest. Ken and I plan on sleeping in the late afternoon/early evening on Saturday, then heading over to DL before 11, close it, then cross the esplanade for some all-night partying, then leaving DL after dinner on Sunday. We'll also probably grab a nap sometime on the train between the caroussel run and the rededication.
GEEK FEST!!!!!!! :D I'm almost looking more forward to the line-up than the actual day, just because it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing. (Not that the day isn't, but still..... it'll be like a convention of Disney geeks camping in a Disney park!!!) |
Quote:
I plan on being at the park Saturday, pulling a geek-infested all-nighter, being in the park for a grand total of *drum roll* 1.5 hours, going to work, leaving straight for L.A. to see Wicked at 6:30pm. It will be marvelous. Sleep? That's BS, I'm 18, I don't need sleep.;) |
Quote:
There will be many different ways we celebrate the 50th...opening the park, hitting certain attractions, meeting other geeks, wearing our DL pieces of flair, ;) taking a long lunch at the Blue Bayou, talking to CMs, watching fireworks....as usual, there's a lot to do and all of us will do the day differently to some degree. I know each and every one of us will have a great time regardless of our choices. |

Camping out in DCA = people in 'Hollywood' sleeping on the streets.
He he he. |
Quote:
Ok, now *that* will be a great group picture. ;) Like CP said, that's what's cool about the 50th - so many different ways to go about it. I definitely agree, because it makes for one hell of coverage from all angles, so that in a sense, none of us are missing out on any aspect of it! :) |
It's only a few more days, so maybe it's time for a DCA Campout Roll Call for the LoT. I'm guessing this number will be relatively small from LoT for those planning to get a wristband and wait in line inside DCA. So far, I believe there's...
Morrigoon Disneyphile DisneyDaniel Anyone else? |
At 2 AM, I'll be comfortably sleeping in my hotel room... then I'll saunter over to Disneyland at a leisurely pace, at a more sensible hour ;)
|
LSPE, Tom, and LibraryVixen, at some sort of somewhat-late entry into DCA. It's an interesting world when 5am is somewhat late, eh?
|
WOW! I should be in shape from the Beach, huh?

Oh you crazy kids!! ;) Even when I was 21, I could not pull an all-nighter.
I plan to arrive fashionably late at 8:00 a.m, then decamp to Riverbelle Terrace for FEJ's breakfast meet, then attempt to storm the castle for the 10:00 a.m. festivities.... Am I getting too old? Perhaps. :D |
2am:

Major mojo for MickeyLumbo for the detailed and valuable information! While you'll be working in the park to help spread the Disney magic to guests on its 50th, would you mind if some of us visited you for a moment (and not interrupt you from working, wherever you happen to be)? :)
|
I'm going to have to print that up! Is that all from the reference guide?
|
Ditto on printing things up...it's time to compile....
|
I would love to camp out in DCA if I liked camping and if it wasn't so early...oh and if I didn't have to work the next day. So, my plan is to arrive around 10am and go in dca and get my ears... Then I can avoid the mayhem of DL altogether..:)...last weekend we didn't even get to go to DCA...:(
|
*raises hand for camping out*
Add me to the 2:00 head count, yall. :) |
Great! I'm glad Mr. Fusion will be there for the DCA Campout/Lineup, too. :)

Okay important development. Parking will NOT be allowed in M&F, so we need to make arrangements for people to move cars.

I bumped the Riverbelle meet to 9am since we will be in the park early, and due to the ceremony at 10.... I'll be in line at 430 |
Of course, the LoT meet at RBTis scheduled for 10:30.
I think we'll all just get there when we get there. |
Quote:
Where can I find the LoT schedule? |
I'll have to be late... I've decided to watch the ceremony.
|
Quote:
|
Keep in mind there will be 5 screens located around the park to view the ceremony. Past experience is that it's often diffocult to impossible to actually see a live ceremony at the park - especially if the media has been invited. You'll probably get a better view finding one of the screens - I'm banking that one will be visible from the Riverbelle.
|
I think the end result of all this will be "we'll see ya when we see ya." :)
|
Euro: you make a very excellent point. Damn you and your logic.

10:00 am ceremony? I might sleep through it. Please take photos for posterity.
|
just wanted to chime in... we will be there, probably in the DCA line around 4-5am or so.... should be fun, we are planning a whole lot of nothing that day, relaxing and watching the festivities....
|
I am planning to be a part of the 4-5AM group. I'm worried most about parking, as opposed to entry. If I were in a hotel, I'd swing by at around 7:50, but alas, I am not.
Plus, I'm into camping out for things. |
All times are GMT -7. The time now is 01:33 AM. |
