The RETURN of: If I had $300 to buy one item of clothing today I would buy........

We all had so much fun with this thread before (and I need some virtual shopping at the moment) I'm reviving it.

This is your outlet to express your outrageous desires. Pick one or a few items each day (but don't spend over $300) link to it and share it. We can all live vicariously through our extravagances. ;)

You CAN bank your extra cash, but it caps at $1,500. Use it or lose it.

If you want to revisit past shopping expeditions, the former thread is here.

Here's my pick of the day. I've been lusting after this dress for quite a while. I adore it! It’s a perfect recreation of 1930's chic. $248

I'll throw in a necklace for $29.95 (though it probably won't go with the dress)

I'm fairly stuck on Antrhopologie at the moment.

I want this red dress from Igigi.com. It's $159 bucks! More than I'd ever pay for any clothing.

Evil evil NA

Ghoulish Delight 08-10-2005 02:04 PM

I'd buy my wedding tux. Silver Cloud, 3 button notch, by Oscar de la Renta.

$345 or there abouts.

Although, now that I look, I think I like the 2 button version a little better.

(or maybe it's just because there's a chick in the picture with the 2 button. That's good marketing).

Either way, I love that tux.

mousepod 08-10-2005 02:06 PM

I want these shoes.

I have looked at all of the official dealerships in SF, NY and Tokyo (just ask NA) and have called several shops in LA to no avail.

This thread makes my yearning all the more painful.

DisneyDaniel 08-10-2005 04:59 PM

Ooo... I like this concept of virtual shopping with virtual money. Here's my one item of clothing for today:

Disneyland 50th Anniversary Leather Jacket
$219.00

Wear a piece of history! Recreations of authentic original art from 1950s advertising and attraction posters brings all the Magic of Disneyland Park's early years to vintage life. Embroidered appliqué patches recreated from actual land logos. Also includes Walt Disney Collectibles label. Fully lined. Interior pocket, two outside slash pockets, knit waistband and cuffs. Leather. Imported. Limited edition of 1200.

But, that's sooooo the point of this thread! Shop away!!!!

€uroMeinke 08-10-2005 06:06 PM

So, If I post to the old thread can I have $600 virtual dollars a day?

Not Afraid 08-10-2005 06:22 PM

NO! Get with the program, scum. ;)

Cadaverous Pallor 08-10-2005 08:56 PM

It's funny, I'm really bad at this. I can't know if I like something unless I try it on. I mean come on, this is just a virtual game, but I can't pick anything!

Ok, how about this.

Just the tank and the skirt are $250, so leave the "cashmere shrug" out ;)

See, you saved $250!

blueerica 08-11-2005 12:34 AM

I went 6 bucks over, but here goes for right now:

katiesue 08-11-2005 09:35 AM

These are pretty and comfy looking. And on Sale - only $207

Not Afraid 08-11-2005 11:32 AM

I love those shoes, Katiesue!

OK. I'm shopping for several Goth outings in my future at my favorite Goth Clothing store, Heavy Red.

The Skirt

The Corset

The Stockings

The Gloves

The Waist Cincher

$284 Total. I may even throw in another pair of thigh-highs to make it an even $300. God KNOWS I can't leave money on the table!

mistyisjafo 08-11-2005 11:50 AM

NA-I don't see one pic!! Bummer because I'd love to see the corsets. I bought a corset a few years ago. I LOVE it!!

Ok today's shopping item can't have an actual pic. Basically because the one item I want is the custom made watch from the timepiece store on Main St. at Disneyland. Eeyore would be my featured character (of course!) cost:$250 for the single color but I'd really like the $500 full color version

dsnylndmom 08-11-2005 11:57 AM

Well I was shopping for the perfect bag but I came across This top which I adore.
Banking from yesterday that leaves me with $402 to spend on
This little beauty
and
I love this one

Which means I have to borrow $43 from tomorrow, starting off my shopping right!

Here's a direct link to the corset.

s'ok cause I'm all over that necklace in your first post! ;)

mousepod 08-11-2005 01:41 PM

I tried on this suit IRL. I want it. Sorry if I'm spending my imaginary money too quickly... I won't imaginary shop until the weekend.

So for $795...

Ghoulish Delight 08-11-2005 01:59 PM

Damn, that's a nice suit.

Oh, I forgot to add that my Tux would be $345. So I've only got $255 today. In that case, I'll just stock up on Geoffrey Beene fitted dress shirts, the only dress shirt to date that actually fits me right. And with $255, I'd get 13 of them in various and sundry colors and patterns.

Brigitte 08-11-2005 02:59 PM

Ok, I'm not sure how you're supposed to link to pics, so if I've done this wrong, please let me know!

Having jumped in this late I'm assuming that I should be picking stuff I like and that I would wear, and in my size. At least today that's what I've done.

This top is nice at $79

I don't dress up for anything but weddings and funerals, so jeans are my bottom of choice. Includes shorts of course. These are $54

And my problem with shoes is finding some wide enough. I have to buy mens tennis shoes to get them wide enough. Womens shoes are just all too narrow, even sometimes when they are supposed to be wide. I tried some of these on though at the beginning of the summer and liked them - they're $30

And just to fill up the rest of the $300, what am I up to now? $163? Here's a nice pink purse to hold my very cute pink wallet that I really have - $106

Grand total: $269, but taxes will eat up the rest. How'd I do?

blueerica 08-11-2005 05:14 PM

Mousepod - that suit is SMOKIN!

I'm going to save my money and do twice the shopping tomorrow morning. :) I think. Unless I become impulsive.

€uroMeinke 08-11-2005 07:03 PM

I just want an iPod, surely I can pick up one of those for $300?

DisneyDaniel 08-11-2005 07:56 PM

Yep. Actually, you can choose from various models with your $300:
--iPod shuffle ($99-$129)
--iPod mini ($199-$249)
--iPod (starts at $299)

Or...you can sign-up for one of those "free iPod" marketing programs ;) and save your virtual dollars for something else, like buying 300 songs from iTunes! Are we suppose to stick with virtual "clothing" purchases?

€uroMeinke 08-11-2005 08:09 PM

I would wear my iPod

katiesue 08-12-2005 09:47 AM

Since it's virutal shopping I can be a virtual size 5 correct?

Dress-

And of course I'll need shoes

Brigitte 08-12-2005 10:48 AM

Ok, I rarely buy new clothes for myself. I certainly don't want to wear anything as dressy as I've seen here. But assuming I can be any size I want to be...

I'm a sucker for theme park clothing...

Here's the pants, capris this time. Pink again...it's a sign.

And shoes designed by my sister.

Ghoulish Delight 08-12-2005 11:06 AM

I can't decide between these two jackets:

$149

or
$189

So I'll return a couple shirts from yesterday and get both.

mistyisjafo 08-12-2005 11:31 AM

Today's big purchase is electronic. I MUST have Sirius Satellite so today I'm virtually buying JVC Home & Car package including Boombox for $279 not including the subscription which starts at like $30 or something.

blueerica 08-12-2005 02:39 PM

OK< I couldn't help it. I spent yesterday's, today's, and most of tomorrow's money. But... I DON'T CARE....

/DROOL

$238.00

$630.00
_____________

$868.00

(I could add the $6 I went over on Wednesday...)

Ghoulish Delight 08-12-2005 02:44 PM

$630?! Those better be real emeralds...:p

blueerica 08-12-2005 02:48 PM

I know -- however, this is a thread that's a little fast and loose with the money.. Look at the beauty in the arch of that shoe. I can just feel them cupping the back of my heels now...

blueerica 08-12-2005 03:28 PM

You feel it cupping the back of my heel, too... Wow, that must be some shoe! :P

Not Afraid 08-12-2005 03:58 PM

I LOVE those shoes!. I love everything!

I'm still stuck at Anthropologie. They think I've moved in!

This outfit for $166

And, this velvet skirt for $128:

blueerica 08-12-2005 04:01 PM

I love the deep red top....

Not Afraid 08-12-2005 04:02 PM

There's an Anthropologie not far from the hotel in Chicago.............

Not Afraid 08-13-2005 10:43 AM

OK. I'm take my scrawney leftovers from past shopping sprees and adding it to today's item.

I COVET this bag. It is my #1 choice for fall. I an really considering begging for it. ;)

Coach, brown suede bag - $338.

This would make 3 Coach bags - and I've never even beed a fan of Coach bags!

Now, to find shoes............

blueerica 08-13-2005 08:35 PM

I have a scant $26 to spend -- so here's a $25 purchase toward school, which starts in 2 short weeks!

katiesue 08-13-2005 10:57 PM

Well they're $515 so most of tomorrow's but I must have them -

Drince88 08-14-2005 05:25 AM

I want those, too, KatieSue! (but I'm sure they don't come in my size :( )

And, in here, size DOESN'T matter! :)

Ah, so right you are!

(But I wear a 10W, and it's hard to find cute shoes in that size. Even my nearest Nordstroms (which is a plane ride away), often doesn't have very many of them - but Houston doesn't have the best Nordy's)

Not Afraid 08-14-2005 11:50 AM

Let's see if my search translates to the link........Nordstroms online, size 10W.

Prudence 08-14-2005 01:00 PM

I want these shoes.

Not Afraid 08-14-2005 01:08 PM

I'm in lust envy!

Cadaverous Pallor 08-14-2005 01:31 PM

This is about 700 bucks American, making up for the past few days...

blueerica 08-14-2005 01:48 PM

I've had lingerie on the mind, and I guess I'll start with this:

$108 for the top
$ 68 for the bottom
____
$176 total

$124 for a rainy day.

Not Afraid 08-14-2005 02:02 PM

Pretty AND sexy! Nice choice, Erica.

I'm going with some very plain brown suede boots. I never realized just how difficult it was to shop for brown suede boots - forget if they will fit or not, 'cause these won't. But, they are classically cool. I'll keep looking for something with a bit more character, but. so far, these will do.

Cole Haan - $298 (which still leaves me about $36 in the hole).

blueerica 08-14-2005 10:50 PM

How I do adore tall boots. I love your Fleuvogs that you have at home, too... I should look up a pair of those, and buy those on a spree here...

Not Afraid 08-15-2005 12:28 AM

My Fluevogs are still available on their site. If only they came in brown suede, I'd buy another pair.

Not Afraid 08-15-2005 12:31 PM

More Fluevogs for me for $175

And, for $99

I love the nod to the thirties and fourties but with such a punk attitude.

Hopefully, this takes care of my deficit.

Ghoulish Delight 08-15-2005 04:56 PM

Stretching the definition just a bit, I'll be outfitting the kitchen today. And I haven't purchased since Friday, so I've got a lot of room to work with...

First, everyday dinnerware:

Serving for 12 for $120 (I've actually seen sets in stores that I like much better than this, but this was the best I could find online. Pattern's okay but not great. I love the shape, though)

For those summer outdoor parties, this set of melamine dinnerware. $200 for service for 12 + 2 serving trays.

And we may yet by these awesome placemts (first one's fabric, second one's plastic). $32 for a set of 4 each

Hmm, that's about $350. Still got $550 in the bank. Sweet.

tracilicious 08-15-2005 11:58 PM

Being that I've never posted in this thread or the last thread, I'm going to catch up by buying this whole room. In fact, I may never be able to post in this thread again.

Ghoulish Delight 08-16-2005 09:43 AM

Well, I'll be in Paris at the start of rainy season. This black moleskin double breasted pea coat seems just the trick at $240.

mousepod 08-16-2005 09:50 AM

I'm grooving on this jacket. It's only $80, so I have plenty left over...

Ghoulish Delight 08-16-2005 10:35 AM

Crap, all this shopping and I'm still barefoot! (and pantsless, but that can wait ;) )

For work, Doc Marten black Monk Shoe $90

For play, Doc Marten 0071 Series $120

Ghoulish Delight 08-18-2005 09:27 AM

Found a hat! $175

I'm still pantsless.

Not Afraid 08-18-2005 12:48 PM

I forgot to shop yesterday! Oh no!

I'm going to continue to incorporate more brown into my wardrobe.

Blazer - $198

Pants - $128

Top - $78

Shoes - $135

Scarf - $30

lizziebith 08-18-2005 04:45 PM

Holy CRAP, you are not kidding. His hotness was unequaled. He was all dark and complex and stubbly.

Plus the last season had "Smile Time": "You're a wee little puppet man!"

I still watch the series on TV but it's never enough! I'm collecting the series one series at a time but MAN I'd love to just have that box set! Angel is next on my list of to dos. Wes got hot at the end but Angel got fat! But I loved Spike the best. Still do.

go naked and spend the money on Olszewski pieces.

Prudence 10-04-2005 06:25 PM

Prudence 10-04-2005 06:29 PM

And this one and definitely this one.

Not Afraid 10-04-2005 06:48 PM

Good choices!

I've been shopping IRL and pretty much buying fall/winter sweaters and shoes with character and lots of jeans to go with em.

I'll have to gather together some links. Anthropologie has figured prominantely. ;)

UvaGirl 10-05-2005 03:52 PM

Well, I've taken NA's advice and checked out the anthropologie website ~ so many pretty things! Once again, I'm over my limit, but here goes:
