In My Dotage ...

Thank you all!

I am very touched. (In theory.)

Master of Sarcasm, indeed! I likee. Thank you, Basketball Guy.

I celebrated my big day (in Lincoln years I am 2 score) by waking early and doing an impromtu busk at the corner of Hollywood and Vermont. I had always wanted to something like this and I figured to-day was as good a day as any. I played, "Yes, Sir That's My Baby", "I'll See You In My Dreams", and "All My Loving". A splendid time was had by all (in theory). Everybody outside of Starbucks watched my brief and slightly off key playing and warbling (mostly, though, I just whistled through the songs).

I can now cross busking off my list of "To Do" and add it to my list of "To Don't"

It has been far too long since our adventures in veganlightenment.. Life just pushed out all the fun stuff for me... time for me to start adding it back in.

Thanks again everybody.

GeorgieTreffeyBaby! Happy Birthday!!!!!

I'm so sorry I missed my one chance to view your busking. I've never seen someone I know have a go at busking before. I feel so.......empty!

I hope the rest of your day was just as, umm, exciting!

Just to clear this up. I did not busk a cappella style but with a ukelele. Though I admit me breaking into an a cappella serenade would have been much more daring (and funny) I did in fact accompany myself on said instrument.

Parenthetically, on a dare, I did once walk into a Blockbuster Video and sing "We Built this City on Rock 'N Roll" in its entirety, as I perused the New Release section, but that was a long time ago.

When I was a kid I used to travel a lot with my father and he always brought along his guitar. It was fun for me because I got to miss school and I loved staying in hotels (still do). Anyway, at night, he would say, "Do you want to try something funny?" Then he'd grab his guitar and we would walk to the hotel restaurant (or local bar ... whatever) and he would literally stroll in playing and singing. If he spotted a stage he would walk up and switch on the mic. "Welcome to the Holiday Inn Lounge, Fresno, I'll be your entertainment for to-night ..." Usually he would get kicked out, but it was always fun.

Cadaverous Pallor 08-10-2005 08:10 PM

Are you telling me that you know all of the lyrics to "We Built This City On Rock and Roll"?? Now THAT's embarrassing. ;)

Seriously though, great stories! :)

Truth be told, I think I just repeated the main chorus a few times, with the occasional half lyric, like, "Georgie plays the mamba blah blah blah blah blah." (Singing an annoying song isn't fun 'til you start inserting your own name into the lyrics.)

I did not enjoy turning forty but I did enjoy reading all the posts. You're all good folks.

I'm glad you said that because I was stuck wondering how long a score was. You're pretty old, but it could be worse. Cheer up, Grampa!

<-- Yes, but did you turn 40 like this fellow?

:p :D ;) I'm just teasing!!

Happy belated, Tref! :D I know that the Susan Sondheim Trio was shining brightly upon you on your special day, playing "Happy Birthday" from Heaven, with Peter Jennings (God Rest His Soul :( ) on the mouthharp ( because Jerry O. still owns the triangle & the jug blowing duties.)

Happy Belated Birthday! :)

Haha! No, the whole show lasted probably less then five minutes. Next year though ... all day! I bet those guys pull in, at least, a grand a day.
