ENGAGED!!! Congratulations Disneyphile and Frodo Potter!!!!!

I just got a call from Kevy Baby with the news.

Frodo Potter proposed to Disneyphile today at Disneyland.

It ws a finely orchestrated event that COMPLETELY surprised Teresa. The story as I heard id goes like this (but I'm sure those that were there can re-tell it as it actually was):

The MCers had moved over to Carnation Plaza for the meet. Ken snuck off to "use the restroom" and Dusty asked Teresa to walk over to the white bridge for a bit so he could "talk to him about the boards". Ken came back and picked up some flowers that GusGus had smuggled in, then snuck up behind Teresa with other MCers in tow. Dusty moved away and Teresa was surprised with a bouquet of flowers, a proposal and a ring. Dusty crowned them with bride and groom mouse ears.

KevyBaby took video and I'm SURE there are pics. Meanwhile, all I can say is:
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE HAPPY COUPLE!

One might even call it "prescious" :D

Brigitte 08-15-2005 08:00 AM

Congratulations! What happy news!

Boss Angeles 08-15-2005 09:39 AM

I'm shocked that anyone would be talking marriage on a swinging booze infused lounge site. But nonetheless, congratulations.

Disneyphile 08-15-2005 11:14 AM

Thanks very much, everyone!!! I'm going to write a full recap in my LiveJournal in a bit, complete with photos, so I only have to type it all out once. ;) There's a LOT to tell!! I'll post the link once I get it up later this afternoon.

I'm still overwhelmed, but very very happy! :D

Well, the one often leads to the other....My hubby and I dated about ten years, then one night (after much partying) we threw caution to the wind and arrived at a tentative agreement to get hitched. A year later, we remembered that we had discussed it, and decided what the hey- so we ran off to the local turbo wedding center. I believe we were pasted at that time as well.

Kevy Baby 08-15-2005 11:32 AM

I finally got a chance to get everything working. If you want to see a quick clip of the actually proposal, follow this link.

BTW: it is a 12.4 MB file so if you are on dial up, you may want to skip.

Oh, and requires Quicktime.

mistyisjafo 08-15-2005 11:43 AM

Congrats again to the two love birds. There are pics over on the MC site too. It's too cute!

wendybeth 08-15-2005 11:59 AM

KB- I can only get sound on that clip- it says the required compressor is missing....I updated QT, but still not working.:(

Not Afraid 08-15-2005 12:02 PM

Having the same problem. Actually, I had to add the extention .MOV manually and it still will not play.

Damn you MAC people. ;)

Cadaverous Pallor 08-15-2005 12:19 PM

Yup, only sound here too, and the same extension problem.

Where? I don't see them in the thread there...

wendybeth 08-15-2005 12:38 PM

Here , CP!:)

Disneyphile 08-15-2005 03:23 PM

Here's the first of many LiveJournal updates:

http://www.livejournal.com/users/disneyphile/48896.html

:)

I'm still overwhelmed at the moment, so I'm recalling stuff in bits and pieces. What fun! :D

Prudence 08-15-2005 03:28 PM

Those pictures are so cute! I particularly like the "fit of nervous laughter" photo where it looks like you're sticking your finger up your nose. :p The balloon hats are so cool! Very swanky indeed!

Moonliner 08-15-2005 07:28 PM

Well well!! What wonderful news! A toast to both of you, I can't wait to hear all the details of the wedding. I shall be following your live journal accounts with much interest. Is it safe to assume you will be registering with DeliverEars?

mousepod 08-15-2005 07:50 PM

Much congratulations! When I met you two at DL this year, I could tell that your souls were connected - this is awesome and romantic news!

Damn you PeeCee people!

I have re-exported it with a different codec. It should be available shortly.

Wait til you see the video!

Kevy Baby 08-15-2005 10:57 PM

Okay let's try the video again. Got it under 12 MB. Formatted as MPEG4, so it should be viewable to you PeeCee types.

The Video

Not Afraid 08-15-2005 11:30 PM

OK. I got it to not only decompress but to play!

I updated WinZip 9.0 (which, if you use XP is not usually necessary)
Opened the file from WinZip changing the file extensions from the drop down menu
decompressed the file
It decided it was an audio file and assigned an audio player to it so, I opened it with QuickTIme and it was fine.

And, it made me cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teresa, you were soooooo surprised and in such awe. I can only imagine all of the emotions that must've been welling up inside you. What an incredible moment!!!!!

wendybeth 08-15-2005 11:40 PM

What she said!

(Thanks, KB- it was well worth the wait!)

libraryvixen 08-15-2005 11:47 PM

I do admit... I cried as well. What a well executed engagment!! :)

Kevy Baby 08-16-2005 07:45 AM

With tremendous help from MousePod (thank you, thank you, thank you!), a much easier to view version of the video is available here

Disneyphile 08-16-2005 10:27 AM

Now you all are making me cry by saying you cried. ;)

Thanks for the video stuff. It helps me remember what was said, because it still seems like a blur.

I wonder if we can register with DeliverEars? That'd be cool. God knows we have enough home stuff, and more linens than we need already. :gnome: :tiki:

It was the most magical day at Disneyland ever!!!! Even the gold Mickeys in the bouquet were a perfect touch - a great reminder of Disneyland's 50th celebration.

Oh, and we've decided for sure on the date, so save it on your calendars - October 21st, 2006. We wanted late October since Fall is nice, and November starts to get to cold, and we didn't want it too close to Halloween/Samhain. So, the countdown's started for the next 14 months. There's SO much to do!!!

Prudence 08-16-2005 10:29 AM

I swear to you that I looked at every damn wedding favor in existence two years ago. If you're doing favors and need suggestions, just ask. I have a whole box of notes.

Not Afraid 08-16-2005 10:37 AM

T, my professional wedding planner advice is free for the asking. Feel free to swing anything by me.

That goes for me too!
I worked in chocolate for six years, and I've planned more than my share... I'm fully aquainted with all things wedding.
I'll hand tie all your favor bows....

I think we'll need some pow wows. :)

Not Afraid 08-16-2005 10:48 AM

Hmmm. Morri and I were just talking about a Stitch and Bitch last night..........

Ponine 08-16-2005 10:49 AM

see??? But consult me on the tentative dates, that was a long drive to go both ways in one day.

Not Afraid 08-16-2005 10:54 AM

Yeah, I'm thinking late September, early October. You can crash here over night if you'd like. Scoundrel would love you if you brought your fuzzy purse.

Kevy Baby 08-16-2005 11:05 AM

I offer my debaucherous experience for any bachelor or bachelorette parties

Not Afraid 08-16-2005 11:07 AM

You're gonna be the stripper at the Batchlorette party???

Well, sure. If they want a comedy show!

Not Afraid 08-16-2005 11:21 AM

OH! My inner eye! It hurts! ;)

Cadaverous Pallor 08-16-2005 11:27 AM

I volunteer for any and all stuff you need help on...I'm no expert on anything, really, but I can stuff envelopes and tie favors etc etc....

Disneyphile 08-16-2005 01:29 PM

My gosh, thank you all so much for offering help. :D

A stitch and bitch sounds awesome!!!! I need to get working on that mantle and start working the dress design.

And, we'll definitely have a swanky "assembly line" party or two. Cocktails and favors/invites - a great mix! ;) :D

And, Kevy - take it off!!!! WOOOOOOOO!!!! :p

(Oh, wait... it's a bit early for the bachelorette party......) ;)

libraryvixen 08-16-2005 05:30 PM

I'll drive down for assistance if you need me. Also, B has small hands and can do things that you need small hands to do! ;)

DisneyDaniel 08-18-2005 10:13 AM

Wow! I come back from a mini-vacation and find that love is in the air at Disneyland! Congratulations, Teresa and Ken! I'm so happy for you! :)

Want more proof that both of you are a perfect couple? If you can joyfully and proudly lineup and campout all night underneath a bright jumbotron inside Disney's California Adventure for Disneyland's 50th without a single-second of sleep--and still love every moment of the following day with each other--then I would say you've passed a test of compatibility and love for each other. :D

Also, thanks to KevyBaby (and mousepod), Morrigoon, Darkbeer and anyone else for taking video and photos of Ken's brilliant proposal! :snap:

Hey, take it from us, there's just something about spending the night in a gutter together.

Yeah, well our minds permanently reside in the gutter, so I guess that helps too.
