Newbies and relative newbies

It seems as though our little hangout has grown quite a bit lately. I find myself seeing many poster that I know nothing about. So how 'bout giving us a little bio, newbies? Old posters that would like to do the same are more than welcome to. I'll do the same. Just not right now.

€uroMeinke 09-08-2005 10:49 PM

I've been around for awhile, started really posting on Mouse Pad as cemeinke, have also been known as Sea Monkey, That Guy, Euro Monkey, and more recently General You. I am a founding member of this board, love Disney, but like other things as well.

How's that for a start?

tracilicious 09-09-2005 05:46 PM

Good job E! I'm traci, I've been around for a few years. Originally from MP and I've just followed the migrating group from there. I have a two year old son and a twelve week old baby girl. I like long walks on the beach and...oh wait, wrong thread. I lack all social skills and no one on the planet understands my sense of humor. I also like Disney and some other stuff (very descriptive there, Euro).

CoasterMatt 09-09-2005 06:28 PM

My pants are in the other room, and I'm not sure who's wearing them...

Hi, My name is CoasterMatt - I'm a ride fanatic/fiend/theme park whore.

Just smile politely, back up slowly, and try not to make eye contact :D

SusieP. 09-09-2005 07:23 PM

SusieP. checking in. I'm in and out on this board, but always lurking. I'll be even more MIA this semester as I'm student teaching. (Week #1 of kindergarten complete, 6 more to go...) I've been a board person (not a bored person) for a few years, but I've only been to one meet since the birthday- gasp! I'm such a slacker sometimes.

sleepyjeff 09-09-2005 07:44 PM

Most places(here, MP, and MC) I am known as sleepyjeff. Over on LP I am Spree. This board is without a doubt the swankiest of the bunch(almost typed lot) ;)

Ghoulish Delight 09-09-2005 08:19 PM

Ghoulish Delight here, Bacon elsewhere. I'm another of the founding members. My interests range far and wide, but I'm particularly fond of Disney (duh), quirky movies, baseball and football, and good food.

I'm often on here constantly, but have been particularly swamped at work recently so have been a little more scarce than usual.

Don't let him fool ya; he spends every spare second studying team rosters in a neverending quest for the coveted Fantasy Football Trophy ;)

Motorboat Cruiser 09-09-2005 10:11 PM

Howdy. Motorboat Cruiser here, or MBC, if you prefer. Likewise, I am a refugee from MP, traveling from message board to message board with the flock. Here, I have found a home with my friends. A most swanky place indeed.

DisneyFan25863 09-10-2005 09:12 PM

DisneyFan here....I'm also a refuge from MP. I don't post as much as I used to, but thats just because I've been too busy recently. I'm one of those people that does every club/activity/class that they can. I'm 15 and a Sophomore in High School. Like everyone else, I like Disney, but I'm also a huge computer/technology person, and a diehard Mac user.

Its funny that no Newbies have actually posted in this thread yet :D

Kevy Baby 09-10-2005 10:39 PM

My name is Kevy Baby (Hi Kevy Baby). Most consider me the moral standard bearer of this here board, though I do find it difficult to come forth with my opinions. I tend to just ride the status quo.

Cadaverous Pallor 09-11-2005 11:23 AM

Cadaverous Pallor: ex-Padder, one-time Fabber, current Swanker. Not a MiceChatter per se but have posted there as Codename Danger.

Ghoulish Delight is my gorgeous husband. I also had a hand in founding this board after the Fab Refugee Camp disintegrated. I've posted on message boards for 4 solid years now and have met most of these people in real life.

I'm shy and gregarious, I like pop culture as much as real culture, I am picky but I try new things, and I'm a homebody that can't stop driving 80 miles away to see movies with friends. I like being a couch potato and traveling the world, reading books on sociological evolution and those by Dr. Seuss, debating both contraversial social issues and ride spiels at Disneyland. I have my cake and I eat it, too.

lindyhop 09-11-2005 12:59 PM

Hi, lindyhop here. I started at MP like so many others. I like to dance and I work too much so I don't have much time to post.

Matterhorn Fan 09-12-2005 02:39 PM

Hi, I'm Matterhorn Fan, and I have 1151 new posts to read.

Get to know me:

Dole Whip, Kaki Gori, Disneyland Churros: good.
Turkey Legs, hot dog odor, WDW churros: bad.

Tea: Enabler.
Coffee: I quit, thanks.

Human Tragedy associated with Katrina: Sad.
Pictures of stranded dogs in New Orleans: Makes me cry.

First Disney message board: MousePad.
Current Disney message board: LoT.

Magazines I get: Vegetarian Times, AAA, other alumni stuff.
Today's Mail: LLBean credit card offer, Lands' End catalog.

Currently (burning?) in the oven: Spinach & Feta pie leftovers, store-bought garlic bread.

Morrigoon 09-12-2005 02:49 PM

Morrigoon

Diet: Carnivorous (okay, Omnivorous with a carnivorous preference)
Politics: Economic conservative, social moderate (in general, prefers small government)
Team: Trojans

Likes to write haiku about how bad office chairs are for the back.

Teehee, I was just thinking that. It's nice that all of us that already know each other are posting, lol.

Not Afraid 09-12-2005 04:01 PM

Lisa ie: Not Afraid, NA.

Not new. At all. I think I was the second member of the LoT test board behind the LoT Wizard, €uro ie: my husband.

Other boards include MP (banned) Fab (Admin) MiceChat (former Moderator) and MI on rare occasions.

Posting philosophy: If I care enough about another topic to seek out a board, I'll just bring the topic to LoT. LoT has 90% of what I look for in a board and doesn't have 100% of the things I hate about boards. That's exactly what we wanted.

Work: I do pet sitting for a living, because, having 5 cats is not enough. One day I'll add to my talent repoitoire.

What I like to do more than anything: Travel.

Where I don't want to travel: Las Vegas, the Desert, places that are flat and have cornfields. Otherwise, most all other places are fair game.

Other loves: Music - the odder the better - especially in small clubs, contemporary dance, art, exploring and adventures, film, adventerous dining, books books books.

Don't ask me about: TV shows from 1975 onward, Pop music, Monty Python, The Simpsons, Reality TV, radio commercials and most blockbuster movies and books.

What others think about me: Some thing I'm really fun and cool and other think I'm the bitch from hell. It's nice to keep people guessing. ;)

wendybeth 09-12-2005 04:08 PM

Well, I fell in the Thinks Lisa is Cool as Hell crowd, at least until the Monty Python comment.....

Okay, you're still cool, just woefully Pythonless.;):p

Tori thinks you walk on water, of course.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 09-12-2005 05:04 PM

Eliza Hodgkins 1812,
an underling from Los Angeles,
has always lived a better life inside her head.
She dislikes the cat hair clusters around her toilet;
generic compliments; cutting her own nails.
Audra Rosemary likes it when people fall down;
the smell of her cats' heads;
kisses on the nape of her neck, and on her wrists.

lizziebith 09-12-2005 05:26 PM

lizziebith: new and not-new. LoT is my first Disneyish board, other boards are Star Wars-related. Under-achiever. Autodidact. I dyed my hair black for most of the past 20 years, but now it's nearly natural. I like bugs, coffee, linguistic typology, drawing and lipstick. (I'm very brand-loyal to lipstick: 79-91 Coty "Grenadine," 91-99 MAC "Mocha," 99-present Max Factor "Opulent Wine." Now that MF has discontinued that shade I'm on the prowl for my next color.) I almost never go to the movies. I'm interviewing with a major motion picture studio tomorrow. My son makes me giggle. I hate seafood and the telephone. I wear Converse All-Stars almost every day and have them in 6 colors. I know enough to make my own rules.

mistyisjafo 09-12-2005 10:44 PM

It is funny that not a lot of Newbies have done this. Ok you newbies, time to own up!

Meanwhile I'll talk about myself, which is something I just love to do. :D

Mistyisjafo = Teena. Originally from MC but taken in by NA and brought to the Lot. Now a regular visitor to my home board the LoT. :snap: :snap:

I'm a special events manager for a non-profit in Orange County, I have my own home that I've owned for going on 2 years, I was in a 10 year relationship but currently single & loving it, I have a kitty that I spoil to extreme aka Her Royal Highness Princess Dutchess Douglas-Gibbs, I love Stephen King and Charlie Sheen, Eeyore is my mentor, can't get enough TV and I hate the great outdoors except for the beach!

Tito's Kitten 09-13-2005 02:51 AM

Okay fine... Complaining about the noobs and our 'browsing' (what can I say, I'm a browser..)

I am still a noob. I found this board through the MP boards. Disney is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I am such a sucker for all of it. I love to take my son there and watch him have the time of his life and give Mickey hugs and I feel like bursting into tears. Dorky yes.. I get too busy to post here all the time. Although now that my days are a little less hectic with the boy at kindergarten all day, I am trying to post on a more regular basis. I mainly check out what is going on here (since all of you are very interesting and very cool) and I have been lurking and posting around various bands boards.(Death Cab for Cutie, Postal Service, The New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene, etc. Can't be Disney ALL the time right?)

Oh yeah other vitals, 25, live in the Valley. Used to work as a video game tester,it was an incredibly boring job but I have made friends that I wouldn't trade for anything, at THQ but now I am full time homemaker/engineering/computer programming student. The significant other (FYI: I am not gay but calling him my boyfriend after 9+years and a child seems really silly) is a DVD tester at Panasonic. If we keep these jobs up we would be such a hit at career day at my son's school!! (So Holden's mom you play video games all day and Dad you watch DVD's all day? Where do I sign up!!!)

I wish I read more, I wish I had more money, I wish I had a tattoo of a little purple kitty on my back, I wish I still played the piano/drums. "I wish the world was flat like the old days so I could travel just by folding a map."

I hope I have not bored you all with my post. Thank you and Good Night!!!!

Kevy Baby 09-13-2005 09:21 AM

Time to celebrate - we actually got a relative newbie to post.

But somehow, anybody who posts on this board never seems like a newbie. We're all family from day 1 :)

Brigitte 09-13-2005 10:05 AM

Ok, you dragged me out.

I'm a lurker on just about every Disney board around, with various nicknames, most of which start with B :)

I own my own business and work from home. I have 2 kids and a husband, 2 dogs and 2 cats (the bird died Sunday night).

I live just south of the Canadian border, up in what will become a frozen wasteland here in a couple months and about 30-45 minutes from Wendybeth :)

Likes? Kids who listen and do what they're told (right...), shopping, reading, traveling, chatting with friends, good food.

Dislikes? Disrespectful parents, stupid drivers, mowing the lawn...

katiesue 09-13-2005 11:56 AM

Ok ok-

I'm mostly a lurker on other disney boards under various nicks.

I live in San Diego and have a 9 year old daughter who is just a hoot to have around. Single but thinking about looking.

I sadly like lots of lame 80's music and have become addicted to really horrible reality shows (Life on the D List anyone?). I hate serious, oscar nominated movies.

I'm from a small town in North Eastern CA and miss it a lot, I'm actually 5th generation on my dad's side. Lived in LA for about 10 years and worked at a video gaming company - admin not programming or anything.

I have traveled a bit and would love to do more - as soon as I win that damned lottery I'm off.

Snowflake 09-13-2005 01:39 PM

Okay, I mostly lurk here and on Mice Chat. You will find me at either place as snowflake (snowflake is becuase I adore Disney's Fantasia). I am new to the boards which is probably why I'm still a semi-lurker.

I'm newly reawakening my love of all things Disney and am looking forward to my first trip back to the Land in decades.

I love great food, good food and once in a while not so great food. Movies, love them, all eras, all varieties from all countries. American silent film is a special passion of mine and I'm working on a few projects which I do hope to translate into a book (also hoping to not make it deadly dull in the process). So I am a film geek and a geeky type person in general, with (I hope) hidden reserves of swankiness.

New music, I have lost touch with new music. I'm too busy learning about old music, classical, opera and the great american songbook. It's no doubt the disco from my childhood had an effect and scarred me for life....could have also been the 10 years

NA introduced me to LoT and I am glad of it. This place has all of the cool wonderful things I love and none of the BS I've seen on other boards, even at times on MC.

So, in a nut shell, glad to be here!

Donna

belleh5 09-13-2005 03:04 PM

I'm Nicki aka Belleh5 & MalibuMinion (on MC)

I have been posting online for almost 4 years. I followed everyone from MousePlanet, then Fab & now here. I also post on MC & sometimes MouseInfo.

I live 417 miles away from Disneyland in Sacramento, CA. I just recently finshed school at San Fransico State with a degree in Flim. I'm married to a wrestler & I'm a server at Chili's.

Favorite color- Blue

Favorite Disneyland attraction- IASW

Favorite Animated Disney movie- Alice in Wonderland

Dream job- to work @ DL as Belle or take over Dave Smith's job at the Disney Studios.

Duh, now you know why it is taking years on my film research...to conclude that thought:

the 10 years I moonlighted at Tower Records to satify my craving for LPs and CDs at a discount. I was exposed to a lot of wonderful music and also a lot of absolute crap and suffered some major musical burnout.

Okay, retiring now, I'm too young for senior moments!

Donna

mistyisjafo 09-13-2005 04:26 PM

Yey! It's good to see you newbies/lurkers.

DisneyDaniel 09-13-2005 04:27 PM

Greetings! I call myself a little "mixed up" in a good sense because I have a variety of interests, passions and group associations.

Disney Message Boards: Started out at MousePad, went to Fab's Boards, and ended up here at LoT, my favorite place of all. It's a given that we all love Disney, but what's great about LoT is that most of the topics and discussions here are not about Disney. There are thousands of all-Disney fan Web sites and boards out there already, but LoT seems to be extra special, friendly, open and welcoming. I also post on MiceChat, where there is a growing contingent of Disney's California Adventure fans. :)

Theme Parks: Enjoy spending time at all varieties--fast (Six Flags Magic Mountain), slow (Legoland), in between (Knott's Berry Farm), water (SeaWorld), animals (San Diego Zoo), and home (Disneyland, but especially Disney's California Adventure).

Travel Goal: To visit each Disney theme park worldwide.

Job: Currently a newspaper/magazine editor who is also a photographer and graphic designer. I also run a steady side business as a photographer.

Entertainment: Big fan of the performing arts, especially music, dance and theater.

Movies: I love big-budget, summer-blockbuster series like "Star Wars," "The Matrix" and "Lord of the Rings," yet also enjoy romantic, sentimental dramas like "Fried Green Tomatoes," "A Walk in the Clouds" and "Roman Holiday."

Music: A typical iTunes playlist could include: Madonna or Laura Branigan (Pop), Expose' or Roxette (Dance Pop), Steven Curtis Chapman or Jars of Clay (Contemporary Christian), Martina McBride or George Strait (Country), Go-Gos or Bangles ('80s Pop/Rock), Dave Koz or David Benoit (Contemporary Jazz), Coco Lee or Jacky Cheung (Chinese), Yuri or Gypsy Kings (Spanish), Gladys Knight or Nina Simone (R&B), Fleetwood Mac or The Moody Blues (Classic Rock), with movie soundtracks, classical music and Disney music added to the mix.

In another lifetime or alternate universe: I would be working at NASA.

Friends/groups/associations: Various journalism associations, filmmaking and film festival groups, photography network, Apple Computer fans, space enthusiasts, cooking/restaurant-discovery group, and Flying Samaritans (volunteering at medical clinics in Mexico).

jdramj 09-16-2005 11:01 PM

I am by no means new here...I have been lurking about since the first week.

My name is Dawn or jdramj or I'm Tink, not Stink! or Tink not Stink or TNS, it just depends on what board you are on.

Sometimes I am not scared of my shadow and chat a bit....sometimes I hide for weeks...you just never know with me.

Anyways, I am 3.93 miles from Disneyland. I have 4 kids. I work part time for some dumb reason; it changes from week to week, sometimes to escape the kids, sometimes for the money, sometimes because I don't have an air conditioned home and there is air conditioning at work, again you never know with me. I have a dog and 6 fish that ate 3 smaller fish this week. I am republican (that is not a sometimes deal). Shhhh don't tell on me!

Oh and I have a cold right now. I think that's all.

Oh....one more thing, I'll be at MouseAdventure again :D

SwankBeer 09-18-2005 01:26 PM

Hello "The LOT" My name is Mike, this board seems really cool......I mean swanky, sorry. I like the cut of its jib. Although I am not a hep cat myself, I sure would appreciate it if one of you hep cats or kittens could teach me the art of swank. Thats all for now, I shall return soon.

wendybeth 09-18-2005 01:53 PM

I like the name, Mike- "Swankbeer".:snap::cheers::snap:

Welcome!

wendybeth 09-18-2005 02:09 PM

hey, I just realised that I haven't taken my turn....

Wendybeth, AKA Wendy or Wendybeth on other boards. (Not too original, I know, but I get confused easily). I met up with most of the founders at MP, then followed to Fab's, and was sort of in on the founding here- largely as cheerleader. I live in eastern Washington (state) and am married with one kid, two dogs, three cats, a ****load of birds (long story) and a fish. I am an avid reader, mostly classic lit, and I collect old books when I can afford to. I try to get to DL as often as possible- I was there on the B-Day, and am already plotting two trips next year.:D

scaeagles 09-18-2005 02:31 PM

I'm Leo. Also known as the toaster whore. My screen name pronounced S.C.A. Eagles, the name and mascot of the school my wife teaches at and where I coach HS Basketball. My real job is a programming desk jockey.

I started on MP three years ago or so when I was simply looking for info on the Grand Californian Hotel. Got sucked into political and moral discussions by all the liberal whack jobs, but even as a right wing nut myself, I followed when they left to fabs and to this absolutely wonderful place. Kudos to the populace and management.

Live in Phoenix - a scant 5.5 drive from DL. Have a wonderful wife and three kids, all three of whom are all wonderful unless they are together and then life is hell.

I was recently kidnapped by James Carville, but have shaken off the effects rather well.

I'm Prudence. I pee in the shower.

The End.

scaeagles 09-19-2005 06:05 PM

Shall we go through all your nice and useful parts again?

Prudence 09-19-2005 06:52 PM

Hey, if it's good enough for Madonna it's good enough for me.

Claire 09-20-2005 01:11 AM

I'm Claire and I watch people pee in the shower.

Okay, I watch one person pee in the shower and it's because she's four and I still have to bathe her and if all goes well, she'll grow up and make law review like Prudence and pee in the shower forever.

Did I mention she's my daughter?

Also known as stinkerbell at MP and MC and MI (though I never post there) and LushessTaffy at Fabs.
