Earthquakes, Blackouts, seesch...
What's with you SoCal'ers?
On a side note, the linked article has one of my faviorte lines you always seem to see these days: "We have no idea what the cause is, but we know it's not terrorists....." |
I just called my parents' house in the Valley. No one home, but the answering machine picked up, so I guess that means they've got power there.
|
Damn... why didn't the power go out in Orange County so I could go home?
|
What a dumb article. Nice freakin quotes.
(this is a commentary on the author of the article, not the op) |

Looks like LA was terrorized by stupidity:

Go go go DWP! (I'm just glad it wasn't the home team.) ;)
And, what's this about an earthquake? |
We were driving around the Valley, trying to find a place that would take cash in exchange for food, and we finally ended up at this little dive-y sandwich place next to a bar. We got two tuna sandwiches and two waters for $12 (ow!!!) and watched as patrons began to stream into the bar
Wow. |
I am just checking in, making sure none of my swanky friends were affected.

Am I missing something here? |
Sandwich place next to bar. Lunchtime. Big power failure. Apparently people just gave up on work and decided to go a'drinkin' !

too bad management refused to turn off the phones:rolleyes: |
My parents didn't lose power, either at home in West Hills or at work in North Hills (neither of which is on a hill).
|
So, did we have an earthquake?
|
I can report nothing was felt in Chicago - and the lights stayed on. However, after I left work, I did go drinking...
|
Power wasn't affected at USH today...

Well, this DID happent the day after a video was released of an Al Qaida connected American made unspecified threats against Los Angeles, so it's not like quelling terrorims fears came completely out of the blue.
And are we sure someone didn't just plug an electric forklift in the wrong way? |
Personally, I think the tape was made by Karl Rove, who then engineered the black out to take the minds of Californians off of the hurricane. After all, blowing up the levees in Louisiana to take the attention off of Roberts, a clear threat to our freedoms, clearly backfired after the slow response of FEMA.
(I guess carville did more damage to me than I thought.....) |

I'm not sure when he said it, but I have heard on my local radio this morning Louis Farrakhan actually saying that there is evidence that the levee was blown up, and specifically in that location, so as to maximize black casualties and spare the more affluent neighborhoods. OK. |
Yeah, I heard that too. He says his witness saw the crater... of course I heard no explanation of how you see a crater that's got 10 feet of muddy water rushing across it.
|
check Condi for explosives residue.
|
Eh, this is one of the great urban legends or underground truths of the NO disaster. The levees being blown up as a land grab is up there with rapes at the Superbowl for hideous stuff which may or may not be true.
I'm not saying I buy it ... but let's just see if in 9 months we don't have once-black-and-poor, now white-and-high-rent going on in a lot of formerly flooded neighborhoods near the busted levee. (And I guess that's about the time any superdome rape babies might be coming along.) |
