It Doesn't Take Much Sometimes...
Sometimes it's the little things...
1. I'm happy that Google made a link to my Gmail somehow after I downloaded something to my computer. Now when I see someone's hyperlinked email address, I can click that and it goes to my Gmail account and not Outlook. 2. This retro ashtray (which happens to use the same colors as LoT) that I bought from Disneyland sits on my desk and makes me smile. 3. This makes me smile: :argghh: :decap: 4. In a couple of weeks the leaves are going to change on the East Coast to reds and oranges... Can't wait. :) What's on your happy little things list? |
Tomorrow I go home!
|
I didn't soil myself today when handed several thousand dollars in cash...
unfortunately, it ain't mine to keep, either :( |
Think lovely thoughts...
My happy thought this week has been that the kids at the school seem to genuinely like me. They run up to me during recess just to say "I remember you, you're the library teacher!" I get kids knocking on the door asking if I need help. It really warms my heart. |
1. Pumpkin soy latte for breakfast.
2. Crisp cold clear morning. 3. No cat barf anywhere. 4. Lost on TV tonight. 5. Leftover Pizza Schmizza in the fridge. 6. Brand new InStyle on the coffee table. 7. I'm wearing a green turtleneck. I love ribbed turtleneck sweaters! 8. It's BOOT time! I bought some new knee high boots the other day. 9. New school clothes. I love kids in new school clothes. 10. Home brew in the extra fridge. It's a blonde ale that drinks like a red. 10.5 Did I mention that Lost is on tonight? |

Grande one-shot pumpkin spice latte... so good it's indecent.
Little compliments at work that tell me I'm not sucking as bad as I fear, and despite feeling like a complete slacker, am apparently doing a good job. Maintaining a balance (however small) in my savings account, and actually adding to it for once. The sight of those little mini pumpkins in the supermarket Rainy days :) |

Such a cool thread!
For me, one word: coffee! :coffee: |
Today, it was seeing the big green Waste Managment truck on my street, and knowing all the junk from my garage that got wet was not going to be in front of my house any more! I NEVER thought I'd be that happy to see the garbage men! (And the stuff hasn't even been out there all that long.)
|
Tonight, when I get home, I'm going to watch some more "Lost" on DVD. :)

Sometimes it's just the kudos in passing. From today's email (from my primary editor):
"On an aside, I was talking to Rebekah the other day and she said you'd done a really outstanding job on the sub edit. Nice work!" |

I have a lovely weekend planned.
Laundry is all done I have new puppies to care for It's almost payday The cats are being cute again - only two, but cuddling with my large Jiji backpack. The weather couldn't be better. |
What a nice thread.
Just when I need to remember what makes me happy.... Okay, I have to agree with some things people mentioned: coffee!!! :snap: crazy loving little kitty :p My son asking me to take him lunch when his dad said he was too old for it. The new fall clothes. My chickie started at a new Starbucks today and I went to see her and she looked soooo happy it made me happy. :) When I sit here at the computer, I see this cute little Tinkerbelle pin that I FOUND at Disneyland on our ditch day last week. "small pixie~ big attitude" {and sorry if it was yours anyone  } |
*My little angel faced snow pea (one of my many nicknames for my Labrador Retriever) She's my best friend, my snuggle bunny, my Little Bo Peep and my little pumpkin pie sprinkled with everything yummy on top. Her loyalty and love are what I hold dearest in my heart. And I love her to a squillion pieces. Squared! :) (Although that's really not a "little thing". It's a humongo thing :))
*Speaking of pumpkins.... *Pumpkin Spiced Lattes & Starbucks *My boyfriend calling me "Baby" *An avocado sprinkled with lemon juice, salt and pepper, scooped right out of its skin. *My new Dyson Animal vacuum. It's all purple & pretty, but best of all it has some wicked cyclone action. Since I'm obsessed with and love vacuuming, this is such a joy. You would think I gave birth to this vacuum the way I lovingly get to, um, "sucking" (the carpet!) every two seconds! :D *Snuggling up in bed all comfy cozy and watching Charmed DVD's Season 1 & 2. *Sexy text messages! And that's just the beginning! So many more! I almost forgot the most important thing of all- the power of Prayer & thanking God for all of my many blessings! :) |

My back - after two long years of pain - is now strong enough for me to work out with vigor again.
The summer heat is gone. Friday night is only hours away. I often get some thrown my way on Friday nights. |

Going to the Harvest Festival on Greenbluff the next few weekends- fresh cider, apples, squash and pie!:snap: Living in a relatively safe (albeit boring) city that I only occasionally get lost in. The LoT. |
Buying umbrellas that fold up to pocket-size from Sharper Image for our Paris trip (courtesy Discover Card cash back)
Buying Paris guidebooks |
Eating cold pineapple slices straight from the can.
Watching a squirrel outside my window gathering acorns. (That's very Disney, folks. Snow White watching a woodland creature grab nuts.) :D Counting the days until we pick up our Corgi from the inlaws... :) |
Buying 5 red hooks that look like cat butts at Ikea.
Coming home to 5 large, real cat butts |
Well. I am very happy to say that we are all caught up on 'Lost'. We rented the discs, one by one, from Blockbuster and sat our butts down to watch all of the shows, only since Sunday {I believe} to be caught up for last nights two shows. Today I feel like a burden has been lifted off of my shoulders.
And, again, my kids are the bright lights of my day. My little guy smiling and cheerful heading off to school. My daughter happy in her life and got a new Robert Smith tattoo, it looks pretty damn cool. And, my older son is getting into his two classes that we made him take at the community college. He didn't want to but he is happy now that he did. He is going to be 18 soon and he is like a flower about to bloom. I can't wait to see what he does. And, last but not least, I am trying to get the hubster to agree on a ditch day to Disneyland in October. |

We've got about 10 more episodes of season 1 to get through, then we can start watching season 2. We recorded both episodes last week...but were there two last night also? EDIT: Oh, okay, the first one was a repeat from last week. I can stop freaking out now. |
Quote:
We had caught up on season one and then kicked off season two last night with the two first episodes. We were lucky that they showed the first one again as I missed it on Sunday {?}. The Hubster is off of work so we have been sitting here hour after hour, inbetween our responsibilities, watching. Watching. Now we are watching the bonus disc that comes after the last shows. Did you see the trivia page about Lost? I can try and find it. Happiness is being able to record all of the shows you want to and watch them at your leisure. :snap: |
I am pissed. I missed last night's new Lost because I forgot to set up a season pass on my DVR. I watched old episodes of Super sweet 16 and then went looking for lost and invasion and nooooooo... it wasn't set to record. I was so angry. Yesterday sucked, fire in the hills, I spent almost 5 hours driving around the valley trying to get things done before our out of town guests arrived and then NO Lost.
Oh wait this thread is supposed to be about good things isn't it???? Whoops. |
Ah, those things do suck but on the bright side....
You were still able to post!!! :D lost trivia Not a lot of things but interesting still. |
* Dusting off my coding skills to create a damned good little batch program to automate some testing. This thing is bullet proof, runs completely unattended, does error checking, completely user configurable. Not bad for 300 lines of code. I find I like programming much better when I don't have to argue with a compiler.
* Eating lunch outdoors on a sunny day with a good book * Making a perfect defensive shot in pool, leaving the cue ball in the one and only spot on the table that would give me a chance to win, thus securing the match for my team. |

Feeling really good for the first time in a month.
Realizing the end of the fiscal year is almost over Fall weather and that special crispness it brings to the air Waiting to see "Capote" at the theater and remembering it won't be too much longer Enjoying my changing yard; the tree cutting and wall building and dirt moving and planting and edging and trimming and all the other work is finally paying off Watching some of my friends go back to their homes in New Orleans. It's a little prickly sad too, but I know how much they want to go back, and I'm happy for them. |

Watching the 'Brokeback Mountain' trailer. :sigh:
The nice Italian/Portuguese lady that cut my hair today. She reminded me of my grandma. Listening to Disneyland retro tunes. The vocals are sooo late 50's/early 60's. "Hello, friends." :D |

-------------- More good things: Looking at MouseAdventure pictures of all the crazy MAers I know. Love it. Movie trailers. Sometimes they're more fun than the movie that follows. The bunnies in the 'Wallace and Gromit' movie. The Japanese market we went to yesterday that sold dim sum called 'Longevity Buns'. :D Pizza with thin crust. :) |
Getting 'Brokeback' on DVD.
Mochi from the Japanese Market. The really nice lady I met on the subway the other day. Kingdom Hearts 2 :) |
I was enjoying a wonderful walk in the rain listening to my Audioslave 'Out Of Exile' cd....even a beautiful rainbow came out for my walk.
Then the clouds burst open and it started to POUR and the wind picked up. The next rainbow came in the figure of my friend in her van with the duckie on the antennae picking me up to go to Starbucks to warm me up. :snap: We then sat in Starbucks admiring this humungous and beautiful rainbow. I thought of a certain someone and wondered if he had gotten a rainbow in Boston yet..... |
