Need Fireworks Advice Please
I have yet to see the spiffy new fireworks show. Since it's just Friday & Saturday nights now, would you suggest I go after work on a Friday (I'm thinking about going tonight) and camp out at the hub ASAP, or go on a Saturday when I can get there earlier.
Will going on a Friday mean (slightly) less crowds? Since I don't get off work until 5:00pm, do I stand a chance of getting to DL in time to get a decent spot? Thanks, SM |
I think getting to Disneyland by 7:00 p.m. and camping in the Hub will get you a decent spot. Best thing to do is to find out the current parade schedule. As long as you are in the Hub while the parade is still going, none but the 10 primo camping spots will be gone. It's only after the parade passes that Hub camping really starts in earnest.
Ever so slightly Tomorrowlandish of Castle is best! Best distance is on the hub sidewalk, or as close in the street as you can get back that far. |
Light them with a long match. Keep a fire extinguisher handy. Carefully supervise the kids.
Oh wait... wrong answer. iSM pretty much covered it. If you don't feel like camping that long and don't mind a 95% as good (IMO) viewing, you can opt for a 1/2 hour before start time arrival on Main Street. Get as close to the hub before the trolley track split. In the center of the street or slightly to your right (towards Plaza Inn). The audio is a little better here as you get an excellent stereo image (which I appreciate, but I'm weird that way). HOWEVER, note that they start doing hard-core traffic control around the hub leading up to the show. If you were coming out of Tomorrowland, they would guide you clockwise around the loop, in front of the Castle and past the entrances of Frontierland and Adventureland to get on to Main Street! At the entrance of Buzz Lightyear is a really bad place to see the fireworks. |
We were there last night. At 9:00, we easily walked right up to our old spot, behind the rope outside the camera shop, with no problem. We subesquently slid over to the other side of the street so we could see the Matterhorn. It's good view and no camping needed.

So, SZ, how'd it go?
Who's going tonight? Anyone? Beuller? |
Bueller isn't going tonight

It's a cemetery night.

Yes, well, it WAS entertaining and we had a little dance party with the dead following the film. Funny, but I don't miss Disneyland at all! ;)

Due to quite a few small and uninteresting reasons, my fireworks excursion has been postponed a week. Thank you all for the suggestions, I'm looking forward to putting them to use. :)

Ooh! I have to vouch for what GD said! If you don't want to stake out for ages, show up just before 9pm and go to the old rope spot at the end of Main Street, but stand on the Coke Corner side, and you'll have a near-perfect view, Matterhorn included.
We brought some Disney fans that haven't seen the new 'works and man, they were blown away. :D |

Hmmmm, one week away ... would that be, um, Gay Day perchance?

I'm excited to take B there so she can see her first fireworks. Truth be told, I've been feeling guilty because I've seen them 3 times already. I play the music for her and she knows that by heart, but as we all know... it's so breathtaking to see the fireworks too!
