Kingdom of Loathing

My name is Prudence, and I am a geek.

And that's why I love Kingdom of Loathing -- because who doesn't love an stick-figure RPG? Any time I get to equip a pair of mariachi pants I'm a happy camper.

Prudence 10-06-2005 06:25 PM

Oh my heck! I even get to use mojo points! It's a swanky RPG!

Ghoulish Delight 10-07-2005 08:03 AM

The two moons are named Ronald and Grimace. I love this game :D

Ghoulish Delight 10-08-2005 01:27 PM

I'm out of adventures for the day :(

Hey Pru, are you in a clan?

Prudence 10-08-2005 09:42 PM

Nope, not yet. I was thinking of forming my own, but I'm only level 3 right now. (zydeco rogue!) Interested?

CoasterMatt 10-09-2005 12:42 AM

Thank you Prudence... now I REALLY must get some sleep :)

Ponine 10-09-2005 12:23 PM

Oh Prudence.. not much got done on Friday. or saturday. And it's happily, all your fault.
Thank you!

Prudence 10-09-2005 12:38 PM

I live to distract!

tracilicious 10-09-2005 05:00 PM

Well, I've found a new obsession...How bout a LoT clan?

Ghoulish Delight 10-09-2005 06:29 PM

I've just hit level 4. Whoever hits 5 first, we'll start up a clan.

tracilicious 10-09-2005 09:59 PM

I'm still on 3. I wish I had unlimited turns per day. I wonder when it rolls over?

Not Afraid 10-09-2005 10:13 PM

I am NOT clicking that link nor signing up. Not gonna do it. Not gonna do it.

Ghoulish Delight 10-09-2005 10:19 PM

C'mooooon. You know you want a pair of Knob Gobblin pants!

Not Afraid 10-09-2005 10:21 PM

I always have. But, I'm not gonna get them. Nope. Think of the puppies!!!

Ghoulish Delight 10-09-2005 10:23 PM

I'm sure the puppies would love a dense meat stack!

Besides, the games got a wonderfully self-regulating addiction preventer built in.

Prudence 10-09-2005 11:04 PM

And the tongs! You know you want tongs!

I'm up to level 4 and I just need tires for my car.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 12:01 AM

I might be wrong, but I think you have to be level 7 before starting a clan. I've joined the Unlikely Ninja clan in the meantime. You get 500 meat a day, plus you can work out in the clan gym, plus access to loads of items. Oh, and 3 extra adventures a day. Then whenever one of us levels up high enough to start a clan, I can leave and have lots of meat and items to contribute to our clan. Feel free to follow the link to the clan in my profile (I'm tracilicious, as usual). The meat alone is worth it to me.

I don't totally understand the ascension and such yet. It's kind of confusing.

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 08:02 AM

I'm pretty sure it's level 5 to start a clan, I'll double check.

Yeah, that's the one thing about starting a clan...we need to get a bunch of stuff. A meat stash, a calander, and there was one other thing. The meat stash I think youg get jus by having enough meat. Don't know how to get the other items, we'll have to research.

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 08:28 AM

Dang, level 7 it is. Alright, Unlikely Ninja, eh? Look for me, I'm BaconD.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 10:02 AM

Sweet. I was reading one of the forums about Epic weapons. I need to figure out how to make one, or at least get something stronger than a stick, as the rats at the tavern keep killing me.

The meat you get from a meat tree. I don't know where you get one of those. Maybe you get one just from starting a clan? I know you can farm for things too. If enough of us join a clan, we should have a stock of fairly sweet items by the time we start our own.

Everytime I think about Bacon Delight, it gets Afternoon Delight in my head. Sky rockets in flight...

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 10:46 AM

LOL

Yeah, I think you have to grow a meat tree. And then, for members to get the 500 meat a day, the clan has to have 50,000 meat in stock. But we've got plenty of time to work those things out as it's going to take a while for any of us to hit level 7.

I applied to Unlikely Ninja, including the message board. Waiting for a response.

Prudence 10-10-2005 10:57 AM

I'm gonna go solo until I hit level 7. Look for me - ethelberga, with her mosquito, Bitey.

The Hidden Temple gets you lots of level up stuff, not so much food. Barrel full of Barrels can get you food and ointment, not so much leveling. Haunted pantry gets one food sometimes.

Make sure you get your tent for your campground!

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 11:02 AM

Got a tent, got a car, got my mosquito. I've even managed to create a new weapon (combined a Spooky Shrunken Head wtih a Spooky Stick). But boy-howdy do bats kick my sorry butt still.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 11:57 AM

http://forums.kingdomofloathing.com/...=starting+clan

That's a pretty good thread about starting a clan. I applied to Unlikely Ninja last night, and just now got accepted to the forum.

I must be playing really badly. I don't have a car or a tent. I've seen the tents, where do I get a car? I've only been playing one day, so maybe I'm just not far enough.

I'm not sure how one can survive without being in a clan on the higher levels. I need lots of meat to buy stuff and I don't want to waste my adventures trying to get it. 500 free meat a day sounds good to me. Like I said though, I'm probably not a very good player. Did you get my in game message, Prudence? I'll send one to you too, GD, let me know if I'm doing it right.

Prudence 10-10-2005 12:39 PM

One of your quests from the council involves getting a car. I assume you visited the toot oriole? and are now getting missions from the council?

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 12:58 PM

Yeah, like Prudence said, be sure you're visiting the council for missions. I think I'm moving a little quickly...when I've been doing quests, I'm barely scrping by, the monsters are kicking my butt. And I've received quest reward items that are too powerful for me to wear. So I think I'm supposed to have leveled up a bit more before charging into battle. But this seems to be working.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 03:09 PM

Yeah, I'm still on the rat thing. I've gotten several rat whiskers and appendixes, but they keep saying that the guy has a rat problem. Plus, in the beginning, I didn't visit the Oriole right away, because I was afraid there was some sort of secret something that I had to get before seeing him. Too much final fantasy I suppose.

Prudence 10-10-2005 03:26 PM

You have to collect a certain number of rat whiskers. You'll know when you're done.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 04:42 PM

Thanks! What am I supposed to do with Dr. Hobo's map? I equipped a scalpel, but I still fall in the wine.

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 04:53 PM

I haven't figured that one out myself yet. It says something about needing something that can extend your reach...that's my only clue.

tracilicious 10-10-2005 05:00 PM

Gum on a string? I'm out of meat and adventures, so I can't test that.

Prudence 10-10-2005 08:23 PM

Whee! Kickin' bat boo-tay!

Ghoulish Delight 10-10-2005 09:29 PM

Nope, I had one, didn't do squat.

Prudence 10-10-2005 09:36 PM

Buy a cool whip from the store. But I need an asparagus knife to finish the quest and the damn pantry won't give me one!

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 09:36 AM

Crap, did I just use up all my adventures before 10AM?! What the hell am I going to do for the rest of the day? Work? Bleh.

Oh well. I copped out on the hobo quest and grabbed an asparagus knife from the clan stash. As for bats...well, I killed enough to get the necessary sonar biscuits (that is, after I used 3 in combat, not aware that I needed them to open the other chambers), but then the Boss Bat kicked my sorry butt. But I've since gotten a pair of bloody clown pants from the fun house, which was a significant upgrade from my knob gobblin pants (power 50 vs. 25), so I might give it another go.

Ponine 10-11-2005 09:49 AM

I'm down in a dungeon, and keep getting stuck on the fat ninja quest.... very frustrating.

tracilicious 10-11-2005 10:27 AM

I used up all my adventures by 11pm last night. :( On the bright side, I spent some time in clan chat and a higher level member gave me stuff I needed to make two new familiars. One helps with item drops and one raises stats. I've been using the item drop one for my car, but I have like 6 of everything except tires and rims. Bleh!

Also, donating $10 to the site gets you a Mr. accessory, which can be sold for $7 million meat. So I think the problem of where to get meat for the clan is solved. I don't mind donating when someone levels up.

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 10:30 AM

Yeah, $10 is a small price to pay...

I got the volleyball, what familiar helps with item drops?

And, just a hint, the sweet rims can't be found in the Knoll. You've got to get them from somewhere else.

Prudence 10-11-2005 10:32 AM

I am so far behind. I spent some serious time levelling up at the temple and now I'm behind on the quests. Fun house? Where lies the fun house?

tracilicious 10-11-2005 10:48 AM

Darn it. I got the cool whip, and I had an asparagus knife, but I donated it to the clan for karma points yesterday and now they're all gone. If only someone would put one back.....;)

Cook fairy gravy and and a Knob mushroom together with an EZ-bake. If you don't have the oven and can get the items from the can then send them to me and I'll cook it and send it back.

Thanks for the tip!

D'oh! :( I took yours, and unfortunately you have to give it up for the quest. Once I get some adventures back, I'll head to the pantry and get you one.

I don't know what unlocked the "Fun" House, but all of a sudden, there it was on the Plains.

I'm out of both gravy and mushrooms. I've got the oven.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 10-11-2005 11:03 AM

Holy crud, this is funny. I'm an accordian thief!

tracilicious 10-11-2005 11:06 AM

Try the clan stash. Careful, there are knoll and knob mushrooms. You need knob. Don't worry about the knife. I need to work off some booze anyways. I'll go get one tonight. Btw, sausage pizzas give you lots of adventures.

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 11:08 AM

No gravy in the stash. I'll check for 'shrooms and pizzas (ramen's also good for adventures)

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 11:10 AM

Ouch, 85 karma for the pizza. I'll just wait (don't want to get accused of looting just yet).

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 01:27 PM

Don't know if y'all have stumbled across this yet, but if you get stuck and need help, this seems like a pretty thorough resource. KoL Wiki

Click the "donate" link at the top. That's where it tells you that you get a Mr. Accessory for donating $10. I don't see where it says it's worth 7 mil. meat.

tracilicious 10-11-2005 02:54 PM

The clan forum in te making meat thread. Also, I ran into players that had more than $10 million meat last night. Seriously, the clan chat is a great place for info.

Ponine 10-11-2005 03:23 PM

I got my accessory.. that I'm cool with. He adds a ton 'o HP to you if you equip him. Who knows what else he'll do.

Morrigoon 10-11-2005 03:52 PM

You all suck... I just signed up as a seal clubber. But I don't have time right now to play, maybe tonight.

Love the "I (club) Seals" bumper sticker!

Is it a familiar? What kind is it?

tracilicious 10-11-2005 05:53 PM

I'm such a dork, GD. There are like 39 asparagus knives in the clan stash. I was looking in my inventory dropdown. Sorry, my bad.

Ghoulish Delight 10-11-2005 06:16 PM

lol, cool.

I got past the Boos Bat, but only with the help of a Mr. A's Smile effect cast on me by someone from the clan.

tracilicious 10-12-2005 05:13 PM

Is anybody playing today? I'm not. I made the mistake of taking goofballs, so I had goofball withdrawl for 100 turns (which lowers your stats a ton, so I couldn't do any real adventures), so I ate lots of food and adventured in the lower levels to work it off. Then I drank lots and lots to get more adventures, which was also a mistake because I got too drunk to do anything. So now I have to wait until it resets tonight to play.

Prudence 10-12-2005 06:04 PM

I keep playing my turns at 8pm when it rolls over to the next day. So I'll be there in....1 hour and 57 minutes.

I'm still clanless (holding out for clan swank) so I'm not privy to these magical stashes. Although I did finally get an asparagus knife.

Ghoulish Delight 10-12-2005 09:26 PM

I played today. Our clan leader accidentally hit me with 5, count them 5, smiles of Mr. A, AND I just donated. So for another 150 or so turns, I've got +30 to all my stats!!! I killed the Goblin King (but don't have high enough stats to wear his crown yet). But it took most of my turns to just get the items I needed for that quest, so I didn't do much else. I need fairy gravy to continue the quest I'm on now, but the stupid Haiku Dungeon won't give it to me.

tracilicious 10-12-2005 11:18 PM

I've got some extra fairy gravy, GD. I'll send it over. Have you used any of the buff bots yet? I'm not sure what their spells do, so I haven't used them.

Come on, Pru, you know you want to join!

tracilicious 10-12-2005 11:23 PM

Oh! The barrel full of barrels is great now in case you haven't been there. I got loads of awesome items and only 2 or 3 blew up on me.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 07:18 AM

Here is a site chock full of spoilers and tips, including recipes and such. If you like that kind of thing.

That one's out of date. Here's a link from the same guy more recently updated.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 08:32 AM

One step ahead as usual. Hey! It's oyster egg day! These things are great.

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 08:39 AM

I wouldn't say "as usual". I JUST figured out how this whole skills thing works.

I'll check the name of the one I used, but I know that sending 3 meat got an enchantment that increases item drops, 2 meat for increased meat drops.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 08:48 AM

Yeah, I'm not so good on the skills either. This bat cave is difficult. I'm using my fairy mushroom for item drops (did you make yours yet, GD?) I'm good on meat. Last night I asked a question in newbie chat and some nice millionaire gave me more than 30,000 meat. I like chat. I've never asked for anything, but I've gotten several nice gifts.

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 09:01 AM

Yeah, I've got my gravy fairy. Tell me about it re: people giving you stuff. I almost have to refuse things just to keep it challenging!

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 09:18 AM

Oh, and these eggs...best thing since sliced egg!

No kidding. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I was starting to feel like I was cheating!

I've found out so far that the red eggs give you HP and the plastic eggs are for combat. I forget what the others do. I found out in clan chat. I'm definitely going to use mine and not try to get a full set as there's apparently no point. I LOVED the test you had to take to get into chat. It should be a prerequisite for any board. lol.

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 10:38 AM

Lavander Stripe (from the bean bat cave) gives muscle and moxie. Lavander and something else, from Kobb Knobb outskirts gives mysticality and moxie.

I've been using them...but had too many and it won't let me use any more. I hope you get to keep them beyond today.

Prudence 10-13-2005 10:45 AM

Sometimes I hate being stubborn. Is chat only for clan members? I don't do chat much -- bad irc memories. I don't want to join a clan and then leave it and I *really* don't want to be turned down for membership. Oh well. I'll get to level 7 eventually.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 11:01 AM

You can go to newbie chat, Prudence. Clan chat is just for members. I don't think leaving is too big a deal. I contribute more to the clan stash than I take, and most clans are pretty big. They aren't going to miss a few members. Our clan accepts anybody that applies. If you don't want to though, I frequently go to newbie chat just to ask a question and then leave. There are like 700 people there at any given time, so don't worry about it.

Ponine and Coastermatt, are you guys still playing? (and anybody else from the beginning of the thread that I'm forgetting.)

tracilicious 10-13-2005 11:08 AM

Too bad you weren't fighting the boss bat on oyster day, GD. A lavender plastic oyster egg took him out in one shot.

Ponine 10-13-2005 11:15 AM

No, I'm still there.... lvl 3... moving along in the world.
Have my mosquito Spike, and a cottage.. and lets see.. eight eggs.

Where'd you pick up that one?

tracilicious 10-13-2005 12:39 PM

I don't exactly remember. Probably either the entrance to the bat cave or guano junction, as those are pretty much the only places I went before fighting him. I'm pretty sure it was the entrance.

How'd you get a cottage Ponine? I still just have my tent.

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 12:44 PM

A cottage is cottage cheese combined with anticheese. Or, there's the barskin tent (which I have) which is Bar skin combined with wooden stakes.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 12:52 PM

Darn it, I've eaten so many cottage cheeses. I'll have to go get the ingredients. I had no idea these things were even out there. This is why I need spoiler pages. lol

But I did figure out how to get into the bugbear bakery. I was so proud of myself.

If you would like a cottage, let me know.

Prudence 10-13-2005 01:24 PM

I would like a cottage! I'm not above getting trinkets and more from LoTers! (look for ethelberga)

If I've got anything anyone wants/needs, let me know!

Morrigoon 10-13-2005 02:45 PM

Feh, I just acquired my first gum on a string....oh and a useless trinket, which, knowing the game design, will probably be useful in the future, no?

Morrigoon 10-13-2005 03:00 PM

Yeah.

Also got gum on a string and got stuff out of the grate (worthless trinket)

Teehee, nothing is too much like cheating for me. Except perhaps actual cheating. I already bought the ingredients and made one, though. Thanks anyways. What I wish is that someone could make me both a master sauceror and a master pastamancer so that I could make Hell Ramen (which gives you 25 turns). But you can't so oh well.

If anybody needs items than feel free to post it here. I'll help if I've got something. We can think of it as our temporary LoT clan stash. Ponine are you in a clan yet? You seem to be doing very well in the game.

Morrigoon 10-13-2005 04:02 PM

I am not in a clan yet. My other half could start one if he wanted, but he wants it to be the board clan since y'all turned me on to the game.
I'm only a level 4.

You made a cottage? How cool!!!!!
Dan is willing to start the Clan , but he doesnt want to lead it.

Prudence 10-13-2005 04:22 PM

I'd lead, but I'm still level 4.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 04:50 PM

Oyster egg spoilers

I'm a level five, and I think GD might be too. I don't mind leading, but I'd rather have a board of directors type role. If I'm the first to level 7 than I don't mind starting one. If that happens than three or four of us can be in charge. Of what? I don't know. Probably just in case our clan eventually grows to larger than the LoT group.

Ghoulish Delight 10-13-2005 04:52 PM

I'm on the verge of level 6. Another couple days or so I should be at 7.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 04:54 PM

Awesome! I need to gain 3 muscle to get to level 6. I don't know how long that will take me. Three or four days? The nice thing about having some meat is being able to buy food for more adventures. The site is so stinking slow to load though. It's killing me.

Disneyphile 10-13-2005 04:57 PM

I signed up last night, but haven't had the chance to play yet.

Damn you all. This is just another thing for me to get addicted to. :p

Yeah, the lag's been awful. If I could use another egg today, I'd already be level 6, but I've eaten my fill it seems. So tomorrow I'll hit 6. Considering how long I was at 5, getting to 7 might still take a while. I'm going to feel a little bad about ditching on the current clan. SeaSparkzz has been really really nice to me and I think she's been glad to see someone else on in the day when there's almost no activity...but I'll get over it ;)

I'll feel bad for the same reason. But not that bad. I never see you in clan chat. We must be on at alternate times. I've only been at five for a day, so I'm going to get as many muscle eggs as I can in the hopes of making it go more quickly. Hurry up and level up so we can get a clan going!

Disneyphile! Yay our little potential clan keeps growing. Michael started an account yesterday, but hasn't played yet. He'll join too I'm sure.

Prudence 10-13-2005 05:53 PM

I've got six eggs left what give muscle points. Anyone want to trade for moxie eggs?

tracilicious 10-13-2005 09:52 PM

I don't have any moxie eggs, but I'd gladly buy them from you. Cobb's knob is kicking my stick bootie. Name your price.

Prudence 10-13-2005 10:05 PM

I sent ya' two. If you've got anything to help me level up that would be swell. Food, preferably, as I'm apparently already drunk.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 10:14 PM

I'll see what I can get for ya. Careful with the drinking. If you drink too much you can't adventure worth a crap. A good thing to do is to drink all your alcohol after you run out of turns, or just before it resets. Your turns carry over, but the drunkenness doesn't.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 10:34 PM

Ok, check your messages.

Prudence 10-13-2005 10:34 PM

When I get drunk, I go for the barrels or the hidden temple.

tracilicious 10-13-2005 11:19 PM

Smart thinking with the barrels. Where is the hidden temple?

tracilicious 10-13-2005 11:38 PM

Woohoo!! I'm level six! Try Knob sausage chow mein. It gives 75 muscle points.

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 08:15 AM

For the hidden temple, you need the Hidden Temple map, equip a cool whip, and have an asparagus knife in your inventory. Use the map, and that opens the temple which is in the forest.

Prudence 10-14-2005 08:33 AM

Actually, I think you need the map, the spooky sapling, and the fertilizer. The cool whip and the asparagus knife are for Dr. Hobo's quest.

tracilicious 10-14-2005 09:09 AM

I don't even have the map. Where did you find it?

tracilicious 10-14-2005 09:11 AM

You guys should try to get a meat maid. It's four extra turns per day if you have one. You need a meat engine, a skull (not the exact name, but I forget what it is), a curly wig, and a frilly skirt.

Prudence 10-14-2005 10:05 AM

Where do you get the skull? You get the map in the spooky forest.

tracilicious 10-14-2005 12:29 PM

I got it from someone in chat. It's a brainy skull. I have no idea how to find/make one other than to buy it from the mall or the flea market.

Prudence 10-14-2005 12:47 PM

Oooh! I'm level 5 now! I can use the mall!

Where do you get the pizzas? Do you bake them?

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 01:36 PM

You need flat dough to make pizzas, but I think you can only do it if you've ascended. Traci and I get 'em from the clan.

I've been too busy to be on much today. Just long enough to get to level 6.

Cadaverous Pallor 10-14-2005 01:44 PM

I want everyone to know that I'm breathlessly following this thread. All the names are hilarious. I can't wait until you guys have your own clan. :D

What'll you call it?

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 02:06 PM

Loathing of Tomorrow?

Disneyphile 10-14-2005 02:23 PM

Nice!!! LOL!!!

I just discovered that I can play this at work, and still get my work done, since I have to run some database queries that take awhile. :D

Anyway, I'm at level 3 for now. Same screenname as here. I'll keep an eye out for the clan! :D

In the meantime, does anyone know a good place to find food?

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 03:45 PM

Dude, I just breezed through the Deep Fat Friars quest. Got some awesome equpiment out of it (icy hot kitana which is power 90, hot ninja pants power 90, and golden arches which let me get evil food once a day) and major stat increases. I'm already half way to level 7!

Prudence 10-14-2005 03:46 PM

Do you have to finish the bat cave quest first before getting that one?

I'm finally up to level five, but I'm drunk so no more turns until 8pm PDT.

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 03:50 PM

Don't know if you have to finish the bat quest, but I think you have to be level 6.

Ponine 10-14-2005 03:50 PM

you guys are gonna pass me up over the weekend. I wont get back till Monday.
Just dont forget me when you start the clan!!! :)
I have a maid... but not a meat maid.

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 03:55 PM

This weekend is all about MA.

Disneyphile 10-14-2005 03:56 PM

Do the 40 adventures accumulate each day? So, like if I'm not on this weekend, I'll come back to 120 on Monday?

Ponine 10-14-2005 03:57 PM

Fair enough. But I was hoping to catch up to you GD!

Where do we stand on the clan talk? I know Tracilicuos was seeming to imply I should get it up and running but I dont have the levels yet.
GD, are you interested?

or should we just sit tight for now.... feelings?
Other than a clan name. :)

DP, do you have food?? Eat some food before 7 tonigoht and that will add to your adventures. But yes, they stack up.

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 04:14 PM

I figure whoever hits 7 first should go ahead and get it started. I don't mind doing it, nor do I mind if someone else does it. Just post here before you do to make sure we don't do it twice.

Prudence 10-14-2005 04:19 PM

Then I guess I have a while to wait. :(

Disneyphile 10-14-2005 04:21 PM

Btw - there's a "Loathers of Tomorrow" clan already.

How about "Clan Swank"? :)

Ghoulish Delight 10-14-2005 04:32 PM

Adventure thru InnerLoathe?

Disneyphile 10-14-2005 04:56 PM

Loathing Thru InnerSwank

Lounge of Swanky Loathing

???

tracilicious 10-14-2005 05:15 PM

To make pizza you need a wad of dough (disguise yourself as a bugbear and buy one at the bakery) and a tomato. Then you can combine it with another ingredient for the topping, ie mushroom, sausage etc.

How bout Lounge Loathing?

Wad of dough? I thought it was flat dough. Wad of dough you can get in the Cobb's Knob Kitchen.

I used a wad of dough and it worked. Now I just need to know where to find some sausage.

Ghoulish Delight 10-15-2005 11:21 AM

Guess what...I'm level 7! *does a happy dance*

So once we pick a name, we'll be good to go.

Ghoulish Delight 10-15-2005 12:08 PM

Traci and I, being the only ones on this morning, made the executive decision. Say hello to "Swankers of Loathing"! Apply for membership (be sure to include a name I know you by if it's different than your KoL name) and we'll get this thing rolling.

tracilicious 10-15-2005 12:10 PM

Is it started GD? I'll go look.

libraryvixen 10-15-2005 01:46 PM

I'm a level 2. I hope to be level 3 soon. I'm the "Bookish Bombshell" on KoL.

Prudence 10-15-2005 09:52 PM

I've applied! (ethelberga.) Do you mind if my husband, bunny travolta, joins?

wendybeth 10-15-2005 11:49 PM

I applied too! (Wendolyn)

libraryvixen 10-16-2005 01:33 AM

Huzzah!! I am a Level 3!!

tracilicious 10-16-2005 10:18 AM

My husband, mdnsmash, also applied. I'm guessing it will be tomorrow before GD gets around to approving people.

I'm trying to figure this whole thing out... OY! While everyone is away at Mouse Adventure!

wendybeth 10-16-2005 11:58 AM

Still don't exactly know what I'm doing, but I'm a level 4!

Edited to add: Damn you Prudence!!!

wendybeth 10-16-2005 04:35 PM

Lol! I look at some players meat (get your head out of the gutter) and I am astounded at the ginormous amounts.

I have meat envy.

Prudence 10-16-2005 04:45 PM

What the hell is meat day?

CoasterMatt 10-16-2005 04:54 PM

I'm UberBeavis, a level 4 Chord Horker...

Hey, UberBeavis!:snap:Have you joined up with the Swankers?

wendybeth 10-16-2005 10:32 PM

I guess I got pasted on some frou-frou girly drinks, and now I'm making poor judgements in my Adventures.

I'm gonna go make some Clan deposits (no, not hurl matter) and give up until tomorrow when I will apparently sober up.

Who'd a thought 'Sump'm-Sump'ms' were so strong?

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 08:26 AM

Okay, now that I'm back at work, I have time for this again :D

It looks like not everyone who's posted here has applied for the clan. If you need instructions how, let us know.

Traci's been bumped up to "Grooviest of Cats", so she's got full administrative power. And I see she's made some purchases (meat tree, muscle training). Hopefully we'll quickly accumulate the necessary meat (1 million I believe) for everyone to be getting the 500/day meat bonus. Plus we still need to purchase a calander to get the 3/day adventure bonus. Those are top priority. If you've got meat to spare, please spare. Once Ponine gets a chance to sign up, I believe she said her husband's well ahead of all of us in the game and should have lots of resources for us. Solid.

Ponine 10-17-2005 09:15 AM

All right, I'll go now. I'll apply.
The s.o. applied, he's Psuedo...
Get with the program GD, you'll have meat. :P

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 09:31 AM

Done and done!

Brigitte 10-17-2005 09:40 AM

Well, thanks to you swanky people, now I have a new addiction. I'm Brigitte there too and I applied to your clan :)

Now if only I could figure out how to get unlimited adventures...I'm out already this morning :(

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 09:43 AM

You're approved. And we're now rolling in meat (eeew). We've got a well stocked meat coffer, a calander (so there's a few extra adventures for you, Brigette), and a fully stocked gym. 10 members and growing, a respectable clan stash. Not bad, not bad at all.

Brigitte 10-17-2005 10:17 AM

Looks good, but I'm out of adventures for the day. What's the calendar? Is that something I'm missing?

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 10:25 AM

The calandar is an item purchased for the clan. As of tomorrow, you'll be getting 3 extra adventures per day thanks to it.

Other than that, eat food and drink booze to get more adventures. Also, you'll eventually be able to get items that will get you extra adventures.

wendybeth 10-17-2005 10:37 AM

Just don't drink too m uch- you make poor choices, like sleeping with Gnolls.

tracilicious 10-17-2005 11:06 AM

Cool! Hey GD, how did you get a Mr. accesory?

wendybeth 10-17-2005 11:11 AM

I can't speak for GD, but I know that is one of the gifts you get for donating to the site. (Read that at the fansite).

Hey- cool gym! I worked out, studied, caught a few rays....feel much better. Still falling down drunk, but in good shape otherwise!

Brigitte 10-17-2005 11:43 AM

analog is my sister, btw, we drew her in as well ;)

tracilicious 10-17-2005 12:12 PM

I accepted her brigitte, disneyphile is in now too!

Brigitte 10-17-2005 12:44 PM

Thank you!

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 01:21 PM

Yup, I just forked over the $10 for the Mr. Accessory.

wendybeth 10-17-2005 01:51 PM

I tried, but the PayPal link isn't working. I'll try again later, when I sober up.:D

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 02:21 PM

Wendy, I also hear you don't know how to get into clan chat. At the chat prompt just type "/join clan" (sans quotes, of course).

wendybeth 10-17-2005 02:37 PM

Thanks! I got my Mr. Accessory, just got to figure out what it's use is, if any. I borrowed a few items from the stash, but only things there are multiples of (to finish a quest) and I replaced them with needed items.

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 02:50 PM

Equip your Mr. Accessory (it's an accessory...pretty clever eh?). It give a +15 bonus to all 3 stats.

wendybeth 10-17-2005 03:23 PM

Done! Tyvm!

This game is truly addicting,

Damn (bless) Prudence! She needs to have some sort of High Honorary Honor in the Clan for leading us to this accursed place. Or, we could just give her some meat paste......

Prudence 10-17-2005 03:59 PM

<applies back of hand to forehead>

And I don't even have admin status!

</woe is me>

But I did finally make a meat maid!

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 04:08 PM

Yeah, I just got me one of those maids myself!

You want clan admin status? Honestly, I don't see any reason not to make everyone here admins in the clan. I just figured most people didn't want to deal with it. No sense having options you'll never care to use. But like I said before, if you want it, let me know and I'll make it happen.

tracilicious 10-17-2005 04:36 PM

Do we have any rules as to admittance? I'd rather keep it posters or people connected to posters, personally. I think open membership would get tricky. Kind of like what we have going here at the LoT. That way we can all trust each other and not have many rules. If we let random people in then we'll have to worry about them raiding the stash for their own profit. Anyone disagree?

Disneyphile 10-17-2005 05:00 PM

I totally agree that the clan should be by invitation/previous connection only.

Prudence 10-17-2005 05:01 PM

I guess it doesn't matter any more. Apparently my character's "sick" and will die and I'll have to start over. Some ha-ha columbus day thrill. I'm so sick of that crap. Thank you so much KoL for teaching me a lesson about how much I suck. I should just hack up my body now and send each piece back to the country it "came from." It's all my fault. I stole land from the Indians, I enslaved the Africans, and I'm single-handedly responsible for every ethnic cleansing ever conducted. Whatever.

Disneyphile 10-17-2005 05:28 PM

What?!?!?!

tracilicious 10-17-2005 05:33 PM

Once again, I really really really don't believe anyone will die. Neither does any player I've ever encountered. I'll explain the plague for those of you who don't know about it.

On Columbus Day Jick (the creator of the game) sent out infected blankets to random players. Then people started coughing in chat. Now some people's text in chat has faded to grey. That's it. I've heard a theory (that I passed on to Prudence) that chat text of infected people might become temporarily invisible and chat will be difficult for a day (or whatever amount of time).

I really don't think anyone will die.

No one ever said anyone would die.

Relax.

btw...I'm sick too. And happy about it. It's a fun game.

tracilicious 10-17-2005 05:36 PM

I also don't think it is a slam on white people. Only a message about the ridiculousness of Columbus day. He didn't discover America, and he killed lots of Native Americans.

libraryvixen 10-17-2005 05:41 PM

I say, keep it exclusive (says the person with the LEAST amount of anything on the KoL)

Prudence 10-17-2005 05:47 PM

And this is why I swore I'd never play a MUD or anything like them ever again. Eventually the creator or the organizers or whomever decide that they need to make the game more fun for THEM, and they start messing with the player characters. And if they run the game, it's their prerogative to do that. And it's my prerogative to take my time elsewhere.

Some people in the forums said that people were turning invisible and that there was no remedy for it. Maybe there is a remedy. Maybe there isn't. I don't want to put a bunch of time into this only to have to restart so that this Jick person can get his jollies.

Been there, done that too many times to count.

Prudence 10-17-2005 06:09 PM

Also, the theory I've heard most often is that there's a perceived problem with people having multiple accounts, so they are killing off lots of characters to reduce the population.

tracilicious 10-17-2005 06:17 PM

Quote:

Most often? You just found out about the plague an hour ago. I've been watching this for a week and I haven't heard that. All the really experienced players I've talked to aren't worried, and neither am I. I might be wrong. No big loss if I am. There are some things I'd like to do differently anyways.

There are a thousand people signing up a day. Killing off people isn't going to help them. They'd be back to the same in a week.

tracilicious 10-17-2005 06:27 PM

I just let my little brother in. He's mrdavebkr.

a) It's been more than an hour. b) I read lots of forums -- both site sponsored and not.

I guess lots of people think it's fun to restart. I don't. Whatever.

Do the admins want me to officially leave the clan?

tracilicious 10-17-2005 06:39 PM

No! I didn't mean it to sound like that, I just think that you're overreacting a bit. I don't want you to leave at all! Please stay!

I just told Bunny Travolta to tell Pru she could stay via KoL chat. I hadnt read this first so I had no idea why he was asking, but none the less... Pru... STAY! please.

wendybeth 10-17-2005 08:05 PM

Prudence, don't leave! Seriously, don't take this game so seriously. What we should do is help out our sick members- replenish their stuff asap if it does evaporate. Is it only chatters that get sick? If so, lets start a YM chat group instead.

Prudence 10-17-2005 08:19 PM

Look, I'm just trying to get out before I get more upset. If my character is now being killed off by the game creator for some ha-ha Columbus Day morality play, that's really going to piss me off and I am *damn* glad that I didn't donate today like I had planned. If that's how this Jick person wants to run his game, then it's his choice. But I don't like playing a game where my character will spontaneously be killed just because the creator feels like it. I realize that some people think that's all in fun and like starting over, but I'm not one of them.

wendybeth 10-17-2005 08:25 PM

Well, at least hang on until you know for sure that's the case, okay? They have a twisted sense of humor, no doubt, but I don't think it's that twisted...I hope.

I'm fighting a WereTaco.

Where's Nirvanaman when you need him?

Gemini Cricket 10-17-2005 08:26 PM

For some reason, I can't play KoL. It's really, really slow and then suddenly it just stops. It must be a Mac thing.
:(

Ghoulish Delight 10-17-2005 08:30 PM

It's probably not just you, GC. The geam gets really laggy at several points during the day.

Honestly, I'd hoped that since I was the one that first posted about it that I'd at least get admin status. But I suppose the traditional model is that only a few are "in charge," so to speak. Otherwise, too many chefs and all that. You got to level 7 first so it's your show. I'm going to create a new account and start over anyhow.

It can't be a Mac thing, I'm on a Mac and have had no problems, not even a lag. Maybe it's just too busy when you're there or something. What browser are you using?

Morrigoon 10-18-2005 10:48 AM

Do you have to be a certain level to join a clan? I'm only level 2 as of this morning.

Also, I just acquired a bowl of cottage cheese. Isn't there something about making a cabin from that? And the bird on Mt. Noob told me to put his action figure together with meat paste... how on earth do I do that?

tracilicious 10-18-2005 10:53 AM

You need to be level 3 to join. Save your cottage cheese until you can join, there is some anti-cheese in the stash. Make some meat paste in your inventory, then select "combine stuff" to put the doll together. You should be level 3 soon, come join!

Morrigoon 10-18-2005 11:09 AM

How do I make meat paste in my inventory?

wendybeth 10-18-2005 11:11 AM

I finally figured out how to get rims for my car, but I have to wait until later (for more Adventures) to get the item. Then I have to figure out the order to build it....
We should have a wish list section at the Clan central for people that need certain items but can't find it in the stash. I have no idea what items I have others might need, so I've just been dumping any extra's into the stash.

Morri- get busy, girl, and jine up!:snap:Let me know if you need any items- I'd be happy to share any info or stuff I may have.

In your inventory, click on 'Miscellaneous Items'- at the bottom of the page is the area where you make Meat Paste. It takes ten Meat to make Paste.

A caution: If you don't want to get the "grey plague," do not accept items from other players, participate in chat, or take items from the clan stash. Conversely, if you *want* the plague, all three of those behaviors should help you catch it.

Prudence, check out this thread if you want some more info on the Plague: Grey Plague.

I've read through a fair amount of it, and it seems the plague may not be the bad thing you think it is. At any rate, there are remedies. It's more of a mystery, and apparently things like this happen in the Kingdom. Keeps things interesting, and people on their toes.

wendybeth 10-18-2005 12:57 PM

Heh heh- a lot of people are trying to catch this thing.

Yes, but if you read more into the history of KoL goings-on you'll note that there's also a history of things that require lots of meat to fix or that otherwise make it impossible for newer players to continue on until the little diversion has ended. They're seen as fixes for unbalanced economies and proliferation of "multis." Look for "mafia" threads from 11/04, for one example.

Do I know what will happen now? Of course not. Maybe nothing will happen. Maybe my character will magically get better. Maybe the "cure" will be obtainable by people whose meat totals aren't in the millions. Or maybe not. I don't know. I do know that I can't chat any more, which makes it less fun for me. Some people think it makes things interesting. I think it makes things annoying when I have to keep restarting. Just my personal opinion.

wendybeth 10-18-2005 06:05 PM

Gee, thanks Prudence- mighty nice of you to offer, but just as I refuse to take my kid to Chicken Pox parties, I prefer to catch these things the old fashioned way: unknowingly.

I refuse to take any game so seriously that it would make me cranky if something happened. I know I'm new to it, it's been around a long while and I trust they'd like to keep it going. As it stands now, I like the sense of humor they have and I am going to wait until I have some more experience and knowledge of the game before I pass judgement.

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 09:17 AM

Aaargh, I can't beat the flippin' Bonerdagon. I don't know what else to do. I'm wearing the lihc face, which gives spooky protection, and ate a lihc eye pie, which gives more spooky protection, and he STILL kicks me ass. Grrr.

wendybeth 10-19-2005 09:39 AM

There seems to be a 'cure' of sorts for the Grey Plague.

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 10:15 AM

Hmm, two questions. Where is the Doc Galaktik, and if I take this Cure, will I just get sick again? And how the heck do people get so much meat?!

wendybeth 10-19-2005 10:19 AM

As you ascend, you get more stuff, which you can sell for more meat. Also, the rewards get better.

The 'Cure' seems temporary, but there seem to be other cures as well. People are speculating as to whether a new quest will arise from the situation, which is probable.

And I just built a Bitchin' Meat Car!:snap:

wendybeth 10-19-2005 10:20 AM

Doc has a shop in the Market, I believe.

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 10:32 AM

Perhaps we should, as a clan, work on getting enough of the cure for all of us before anyone takes it. That way we only have to take it once. Should reduce the risk of recurrance, as long as we don't hang out in public chat channels for a while.

wendybeth 10-19-2005 10:38 AM

I think ultimately everyone will get it- there are people in the Forum who got it when they weren't engaging in any 'risky' behavior. I thought the same thing regarding the Cure.

I think that's a good idea. Is the Bonerdragon in the crypt? I can't get past the first part of it. Last I checked we're really close in stats, where did you get the equipment for it?

Disneyphile 10-19-2005 12:58 PM

Total mojo to KoL for this Disney reference:
Spoiler:
As you tiptoe through the harem (which is a lot like tiptoeing through the tulips, but with better scenery), you see what looks like a hippopotamus wearing a tutu run across the corridor up ahead. You hurry down the hall and through the door the hippo went through.

You find yourself in a courtyard surrounded by columns. It's much more pleasant than that time you found yourself living in a shotgun shack. As you watch, dumbfounded, tutu-clad hippos perform a ballet with cape-wearing crocodiles. You watch for over an hour, just waiting to see one of the crocodiles get crushed or one of the hippos get noshed. Neither thing happens, but you do feel more cultured for having sat through an entire ballet.

You also resolve to lay off the herbal brownies.

:snap:

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 01:16 PM

Heehee, yeah, loved that.

Traci, I probably had a Smile of Mr. A effect on me at the time that I cleared the first part . That plus the Mr. Accessory I have really makes me badass.

For the equpiment, the Lihc Face is dropped by the giant Lihc which is one of the mini-bosses in the first part of the Crypt. The Lihc Eye is dropped by a regular ol' Lihc in the Cemetary. Lihc Eye Pie = Lihc Eye + Pie Curst (pie crust being wad of dough + Gnollish pie tin).

I made a lihc eye pie once.

I like the blurb from the vacation spot at the shore... the mountain one. Where a kid on a bike chases you wanting his 2.50.

[pickin' nits]
Is it $2.50 or $2? 'cause it'd be $2 to be accurate.

So... I became level three this morning during some pre-commute adventuring. Now, how do I join?

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 01:41 PM

By the way, I'm considering starting up a second character. Mostly because it means twice the adventurin' a day...I don't think I quite have the patience or capacity to do the fancy things that many players do with their "multis". I just wanted to get a consensus, can anyone think of a reason to not allow us members to have multiple characters in the clan? Since we all know each other (or are at most once removed from knowing each other), I think it goes without saying that no one here would abuse the clan stash. As I see it, the more characters, the more opportunity to ADD to the stash. Anyone think of something I'm missing?

Go to the town, click on the "clan district" and type "swankers" in the search. Click to join and someone'll approve you (do we know your character name?).

I've been meaning to ask the same thing. I was thinking about getting a multi just to cook for the clan. I don't mind, but every pizza I make costs two adventures.

Prudence 10-19-2005 01:57 PM

Do you have a chef-in-the-box? That takes away the adventuring cost. I'm working on the bartender-in-the-box.

I appreciate your cooking!:snap: I really haven't got that angle figured out yet- do I need the Easycook oven? I finally smithed something, and built my meat car. I've got like four or five quests going, so I need to just hunker down and do each one, rather than going all over the place like I have been.

I like the idea of multi's- why not? Let me know what you decide.

edit: errr, nix that. Was thinking of something else. It's the disembodied brains that I need. I've got tons of smart skulls, need to brains for a brainy skull.

wendybeth 10-19-2005 02:12 PM

I've got a brain I'm not using yet- lol. Want it?

I don't. That's a good idea. But the multi could also use it's money to buy ingredients. Each sausage pizza also costs 300 meat to get ingredients for. I could get it a toaster and make toast everyday, and some evil golden arches, plus I could make it a sauceror or a pastamancer so that eventually we could have hell ramen.

Yeah, you do need the oven. I haven't smithed anything yet. I'm not sure what to smith.

Prudence 10-19-2005 02:51 PM

I was thinking of making a pastamancer character since we seem to not have as many of them.

For brains: I've had more luck in Farnsworthy's Tower than in the cemetery getting brains. I need brains and smart skull to complete my bartender-in-the-box. I've already got another nothing-in-the-box and beer goggles.

I definitely suggest making the chef-in-the-box a priority for anyone that doesn't have one yet.

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 03:03 PM

Yeah, I don't think I've ever gotten brains in the Cemetary, only the tower. And usually pretty easily in the tower. I need that plus a box and I'll be good to go on the chef. Then it's on the bartender.

wendybeth 10-19-2005 03:09 PM

I'm a Pastamancer!:D I don't know why, as i don't especially like pasta, but there you have it.

Traci- I smithed a meat helmet- not sure what it's good for, though.

Ponine 10-19-2005 03:09 PM

Okay GD.. I took your advice and went to the Town Council.. see the spoiler box.

Spoiler:
We've received word that the owner of the Typical Tavern, in the Distant Woods, is having a bit of a rat problem. I'm sure he'd reward you if you took care of it for him.

The Council requires another task of you, Adventurer. You must slay the Boss Bat. He can be found in the deepest part of the Bat Hole, in the Nearby Plains. Slay him, and return to us with proof of your conquest.

We've gotten word, Adventurer, that the Knob Goblins, who normally keep to themselves over at Cobb's Knob, are planning a major military action against Seaside Town.

We need for you to go deep into the Knob, and nip this problem in the bud, so to speak, by neutralizing the Goblin King.

We've marked your map with the location of the secret entrance that will allow you to go inside the Knob. Many Bothans died to... oh, wait, never mind. That was something else.

Recently, an aura of extreme Spookiness has begun to emanate from within the Cyrpt, near the Misspelled Cemetary. We fear that some horrible monster has taken up residence there, and begun to rile up the local undead.

Would you be so good as to investigate?

You look like you need a vacation, Adventurer. Down at the Shore, they have a wide variety of relaxing trips available. Unfortunately, it's pretty far away, so you'll need a car to get there.

Also unfortunately, there are no more car dealers left in the Kingdom since that Pork Elf Wizard came through here a few years ago. You'll have to build your own car. You should be able to find almost all of the parts for it down at Degrassi Knoll. It's in the Nearby Plains.

We have received news that might be of interest to you, Adventurer. In the Dark and Dank and Sinister Cave, deep beneath the Big Mountains, our agents have detected the presence of a dangerous foe: The Spirit of New Wave.

Gee.... NOW y'all tell me...............

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 03:12 PM

lol! You've got yourself some catching up to do. On the bright side, you'll be acquiring a whole lot of stats, items, and meat in the process.

(duration: 3 Adventures)
I've got to stop doing hair on my day off.

Prudence 10-19-2005 07:45 PM

I created March Hare the pastamancer -- primarily with the hope of being able to chat without infecting people, at least until my other character has reached a level of being able to reach the area where the (temporary) cure lives.

Prudence 10-19-2005 08:14 PM

Another clan is doing trick or treating. You can send one message a day to: Aflubadubdub

and that message should read:
Trick or Meat

and you will get a gift.
I got a goat.

Ghoulish Delight 10-19-2005 09:51 PM

Goony, I accepted your application. Welcome Swanker!

wendybeth 10-19-2005 10:35 PM

I accidently bought two of the things that mix drinks, so I donated one to the clan. I figure if a person doesn't want to shell out 1,000 meat, they can borrow it, mix drinks, and replace it. Or, they can keep it and become the Clan mixologist. Whatever. I also went up a level, to 6, and got my Harem Girl outfit. Still haven't defeated the King, but his days are numbered..... The treasury in Cobbs Knob is a great place to load up on Meat, if there is anyone who hasn't checked that out.

Prudence 10-19-2005 10:38 PM

The Knob Goblin Elite Guard will *not* give me his pants and it's really beginning to piss me off.

I can mix drinks.

Prudence 10-20-2005 09:44 AM

Can someone admit March Hare to the guild? My pastamancer is level 3 now.

Did anyone else do the trick or meat? I got a goat (familiar) and Bunny Travolta got senior mints.

I can mix drinks and cook w/o adventure cost.

Ghoulish Delight 10-20-2005 09:56 AM

I got a skewer mounted razor blade (the Pickle on a Stick's accessory) from Trick or Meat.

Has anyone found a good place for stocking up on food and/or drink? Right now I'm spending a lot of time in Whitey's Grove, getting lots of wedding cakes, white chocolate chips, boxed wine, and white lightning. Plus it's a good place to gain stats. Is there anywhere better for food?

Prudence 10-20-2005 11:50 AM

Fernsworthy's tower (or whatever it is -- too lazy to look) gives lots of fruit. Which makes nice drinks with bottles of things from the barrel full of barrels.

Morrigoon 10-20-2005 11:57 AM

Does the barrel full of barrels re-set every day?

Ghoulish Delight 10-20-2005 11:57 AM

Ah, didn't realize the BfoB gave liquor. I got lots of fruit, and have been buying booze when it's cheap at the mall, but always can use more. Awesome.

Prudence 10-20-2005 12:08 PM

Yup!

Morrigoon 10-20-2005 02:38 PM

Does alcohol do much of anything for you? I haven't tried using it yet.

lizziebith 10-20-2005 02:49 PM

Well I've never done anything like this before so I signed up (pifflebooger) and am now at level 3, even though I barely know what I'm doing! I applied to join our clan. I have 20 adventures left, but I tried my drinking skills out and am now in a drunken stupor. :D

Prudence 10-20-2005 03:10 PM

Alcohol gives you more adventures, but also contributes to your drunkeness. Drink too much and you'll be in a drunken stupor and unable to adventure. However, the next day you'll no longer be drunk but you'll still have the adventures.

Morrigoon 10-20-2005 04:20 PM

Hahah... they even reference South Park!

Um, actually, that would be attributed to Monster Squad, a reallly bad movie from 1987.

lizziebith 10-20-2005 09:53 PM

OMG we can have a liver of steel? Wait till I tell everyone! Friends who've been looking at me askance since I joined and can't stop talking about meat-this and meat-that will now be tromping a humble vegan path to my door. My. MEAT. door! :p

wendybeth 10-20-2005 11:02 PM

Oooh, Lizziebith- you have been sucked onto the Meat Vortex that is the KoL......Welcome!

I'm now on a mission for that damned Liver O' Steel. :D

Tonight was an excercise in frustration- kept getting my ass kicked by the King in Cobb's Nob, and by the prancing little G bats in the Friars challenge. Prissy little bastards.

Went on two vacations- seem like a waste of time and meat, but I'll do the last one tomorrow. South of the Border is pretty funny, and I got a couple of bottles of tequila! (Which I promptly turned into margarita's and drank). I also accidently made a Plague Cure, so if anyone is wanting to try it, I'll give it to the first person who asks. I'm not coughing yet, but it's not for lack of exposure.

tracilicious 10-21-2005 08:14 AM

I'll take it if you've still got it. How'd you make it? I had to take a potion of temporary greatness to beat the king of cobb's knob. Now the cyrpt ghosts are killing me.

wendybeth 10-21-2005 08:29 AM

I got some sort of cat tail- I think it was either in the South of the Border or the Friars challenge. Anyway, I went to Doc's to buy a restorative after one of those prissy bats kicked my ass, and he offered to mix me up something with the cat tail thingy. (Sorry I'm so concise- just woke up). I'll send it right away!

(Thanks for the tip on the King- I'll get the bastard tonight).

Prudence 10-21-2005 08:40 AM

You can find a questionable taco south of the border. Eating the questionable taco gives you the lovecat tail. (lovecat? cure? har.) When you visit the doc with the lovecat tail in your inventory, he will ask you if you want a cure.

NOTE: last night someone was saying that you can not reinfect through chat -- that reinfection was only possible by taking something from the clan stash or by using an infected blanket. I took the cure, entered chat, and after a bit started coughing again. No stash raid, no blanket. Just an FYI.

Perhaps the clan should make sure every member has a cure and then takes it before chatting? I dunno. I have one QT and will try to get more tomorrow.

Prudence 10-21-2005 08:48 AM

Oh - other random thoughts -- re: quotas -- I figure we're all big boys and girls, why bother with quotas? If I take an ingredient I need from the stash, I try to replace it with something I've got an abundance of. I'm sure the rest of you do the same.

re: admin/fighting other clans -- when the day comes that we are badass and want to show other clans that they are SoL, I suggest that a number of people be made admin or otherwise given status to purchase the fighting goods. Otherwise we'll be limited in responding to times GD and tracilicious are on.

wendybeth 10-21-2005 08:55 AM

I read that the Cure was only temporary, so perhaps it's eventual intention will be to get you through the challenge that will provide the True Cure.

Prudence 10-21-2005 08:56 AM

This whole Cure thing is giving me bad high school flashbacks.

Ghoulish Delight 10-21-2005 09:06 AM

So here's what I think we need to do. Collect enough of the cure for everyone. Don't take it yet. Distribute it to everyone, take the cure, and send a message to someone (Traci? Prudence? I'll be out of town). Then don't go back into chat. Once that person gets a message from everyone, they'll sound the all clear (i.e., send everyone a message) and we can start chatting again. Just don't go into newbie after that! If you do this while I'm gone, don't wait for me, just send me a message to me reminding me to take the cure before entering chat.

Annoying, but it should rid us of the scurge.

re: admin/fighting other clans -- when the day comes that we are badass and want to show other clans that they are SoL, I suggest that a number of people be made admin or otherwise given status to purchase the fighting goods. Otherwise we'll be limited in responding to times GD and tracilicious are on.

I agree about quotas. I check the activity log pretty regularly (because I'm bored, mostly) and everyone puts in way more than they take out. I think as long as we keep it to people we know only, then it won't become a problem.

As far as defenses go, you buy the stuff to defend and it takes care of itself. Sort of like PvP fighting. Someone has to do the attacking, but I'm not sure what the point is. We don't actually get anything from winning (other than rank). We won't get attacked until we have goody bags, the only purpose of those is for fighting. Can't everyone buy the war goods now? Have you gone to the war room?

Morrigoon 10-21-2005 09:26 AM

So what IS the plague cure then? (Luckily I haven't gotten the plague yet)

Prudence 10-21-2005 09:36 AM

I certainly can not buy war goods now. I could initially, but my status was changed. I can not buy things with clan funds, change my title, make announcements, etc.

Ghoulish Delight 10-21-2005 09:38 AM

I'll say it again. Anyone who wants admin options, just say the word and it's done.

Ponine 10-21-2005 09:39 AM

oh dont say things like that.... now you'll get it for sure!
(I was obviously too slow... this was meant as a retort to Morrigoon about the plague cure, and not having the plague yet)

Prudence 10-21-2005 09:48 AM

I just assumed we'd want to eventually mix it up with other clans. Apparently I was wrong. Never mind.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for mixing it up. I play pvp even though there isn't a point. I haven't bought any war stuff because I didn't know how others felt about it. Do we want to spend our clan meat on that sort of thing? How does everybody feel? GD?

Ghoulish Delight 10-21-2005 10:41 AM

Is there anything else TO spend clan meat on at this point?

And don't look at me for answers..I've still got my hippy stone.

Morrigoon 10-21-2005 11:24 AM

Actually, Prudence got the plague before I ever entered chat, so I actually haven't looked to see IF I've got the plague.

lizziebith 10-21-2005 11:35 AM

What is PvP? I've been too embarrassed to ask...

Ghoulish Delight 10-21-2005 11:44 AM

"Player vs. Player". You battle other players. You are immune from attack, and can't attack, as long as your hippie stone in your campground remains in tact. Once you break it, you're fair game. I haven't done it myself, but I believe the only things at stake are pride and perhaps meat. Someone else will have to confirm.

Not that I know of. I'd like to attack occasionally, but I don't really want to be in charge of moving us up in the ranks. Perhaps Prudence would like to head that up?

You should break your stone. The fights are hilarious.

We should make sure we have lots of oatmeal and chairs for our archers. Prudence, if you do head that up, do you mind if others attack/buy stuff occasionally?

Prudence 10-21-2005 11:58 AM

If I were to head that up, I would insist that others attacked/bought stuff as frequently as they desired, and perhaps more so.

It's not something I would suggest doing until we feel powerful, though.

Does our ability to win battles depend on our levels? Or is it just how much stuff we have to battle?

Prudence 10-21-2005 02:54 PM

I think stuff. But I am imagine that our ability to earn meat and buy stuff will accelerate as we level up.

wendybeth 10-22-2005 08:00 PM

I'm an idiot- I thought I was a Pastamancer, but I'm a Sauceror.

So, I created another character: NinjaMancer! She's a Pastamancer (really, I think...), and I'll apply to the Clan when I hit level three. I'm going about things a bit more methodically this time around, so I'm getting a pretty good stash of stuff to put in the Clan's larder.

tracilicious 10-24-2005 11:51 PM

Newest, cool movie (book) reference:

Quote:

While moseying (which is like sashaying, only with less of a lisp) through the maze of tunnels in the dwarven mine, you come across an eXtremely lost Orcish frat boy.

"Hey, bra." He says. "I brought a sorority orc in here to make out, y'know, but she totally ditched me and I can't find my way out! Can you help me?"

You agree to lead him to safety, reasoning that you haven't done your good deed for the day yet and you don't want another frat boy skeleton on your conscience. As you wind your way through the darkness, you hear someone playing the longest drum solo you've ever heard.

"Whoah." The frat boy says. "Drums in the deep... what do you suppose that is?"

"Be on your guard," you tell him. "There are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world." Of course, he takes offense at that comment and you end up having to throw down with him anyway. You make short work of him, there in the darkness, rifle his pockets, and make your way back to the surface alone.

I finally beat the crypt! On to the mines!

wendybeth 10-25-2005 12:18 AM

Whoohoo! I just got to the Crypt challenge, and am amassing the Hp and Mp I know i'll need. I love all the literary and music nods in this game.:D

Wait... HOW can you suck at this game? you cant!
Honeybunch, you just need me to help you. Whats your character name?

WEll, me or a handfull of other people.

Morrigoon 10-25-2005 01:30 PM

EH: if it's any consolation, my character has gotten the sh*t kicked out of it several times this week! I've only just gotten to the Degrassi Knoll bit, can't find rims anywhere, the only meat car ingredients I've successfully combined were the empty meat tank and the meat stack, and as of this morning my character was DRUNK. And I can't get past the entrance to the bat cave.

However, I've learned that razor-sharp can lids are my friend. As are spider webs. Good stuff in a battle.

tracilicious 10-25-2005 01:35 PM

First, the rims aren't at the knoll. Secondly, I sucked too when I started. Now I'm a passable player. Once you can join the clan the game will be easier for you.

Prudence 10-25-2005 03:29 PM

You have to get sweet rims from the hermitage. You buy chewing gum and a hermit permit from the market. (Might go ahead and get several chewing gum on a string -- might need 'em.) Fish in the sewer until you get worthless trinket/geegaw/whatever. Then go to the hermitage and trade for the sweet rims.

I was stuck on the damn goblin king for so long until someone gave me a linoleum sword and some chow mein.

EH1812: what part are you sucking in? We can help!

lizziebith 10-25-2005 03:41 PM

Grrrrr...today was not fun in the KoL. Yesterday I made a Sauceror multi and got her to level 4, then applied to a great clan (I wanted to see how other clans were)...and got rejected! :( Today, I joined in at newbie chat after reading all the nice stories about it, and I asked how to use an egg, and got a nasty, expletive-laden PM about it. Plus, I got the plague. :( Then, I successfully joined a clan that had a nice ad in forums and immediately went about donating meat and goods to the stash, only to find out I couldn't remove anything (I was only going for one small part), even though I apparently have more karma than a lot of veteran members there. And those members have higher ranks than I do too. And only AFTER all that, did I notice: NO MEAT TREE! They have millions in meat, and no meat tree. And I donated meat that I needed, too. So now I'm out meat and lots of neato goods, and stuck in a tree-less clan. Grrrrrr!

tracilicious 10-25-2005 03:41 PM

Anyone that needs a bit of a boost can send one meet to leethal to get an elemental saucesphere cast on them for 100 turns. You can do this once a day. It's just a buffbot, so don't bother with a message.

Pru, that goblin king took me so stinking long!!! I used a potion of temporary greatness to help. I can cast tenacity of the snapper and ghostly shell if anyone needs it.

Oh, and so far I can cast the Moxious Madrigal. At roll over tonight I should have enough to add one more.

I will most likely. I've asked them to get a tree. And I also want to wait and see if I can at least get a couple of my things back. We'll see how it goes.

I was under the impression that multis couldn't be in the same clan due to the potential abuse of exchanging stuff?

tracilicious 10-25-2005 05:08 PM

Nope, Jick himself has multis in a clan. You just can't donate things with one multi just so another can take them out. Your multis can't interact. Come over when you can!

Prudence 10-25-2005 06:06 PM

I figure my multis play different role. I made a secondary, pastamancer category because I realized how useful that chow mein can be. I plan to contribute chow mein to the clan as a whole. This includes my other character, but isn't exclusively focused on my other character. Does that make sense?

Of course, I first need to be powerful enough to access the place what drops dry noodles.

Eliza Hodgkins 1812 10-25-2005 06:30 PM

I'm stuck. Just stuck. I can't find jack ****. I'm all alone and lost in the Kingdom of Loathing. It's just like real life, dammit. Lost and alone! Lost and alone!

I'll put something together tomorrow, to tell you where I'm at (or NOT at) and you people WILL help me.

Fie.

wendybeth 10-25-2005 06:48 PM

I will help you, Eliza.

At the very least, we can be drinking buddies.:D

Prudence 10-25-2005 06:56 PM

We'll all help you! You must become one of us! First off, what sort of character do you have? And what is your characters name? (So we can send you helpful things!)

Then, the very first thing you should do is visit the Toot Oriol who lives in the mountains.

tracilicious 10-25-2005 08:01 PM

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Kingdom is broken! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

wendybeth 10-25-2005 08:05 PM

They had a notice up earlier that tonight's maintenance was going to take at least an hour, which made me wonder if it has something to do with the Plague. (Initiating a quest, or some such thing). But 24 hours!!! Noooooooooo!!!!
Sigh. I hope they're just messing with us.

Prudence 10-25-2005 09:05 PM

Yes, Jick posted the (lengthy) story. Bottom line is it looks like the damaged database will mostly hurt Ascenders. It might even be back up late tonight!! If you can at least check the forums, here's his story.

tracilicious 10-26-2005 08:12 PM

Looks like we're SOL until tomorrow night. How will we survive yet another day? The good thing is, that we're all fairly new to the game, and therefore have not lost anything in this mess.

Prudence 10-27-2005 09:54 PM

Arg! It just says "Back up very soon". I can't stand the wait!

wendybeth 10-27-2005 10:20 PM

tracilicious 10-28-2005 09:24 AM

What are cola wars?

I seem to have a few drinks that I didn't have before. I've also lost my ability to smith stuff. I haven't done too much yet.

I've been eating and trick or meating for GD, but he's lost all his unopened trick or meat presents that I got him. That will be an unhappy surprise for him.

Not nearly as unhappy as he would be to return and find out that he was then locked out of the game for days.
I'm sure he'll be okay with it.

Prudence 10-28-2005 10:45 AM

You'll want to be searching the kingdom for rifts. Mayhap you will encounter a battlefield?

Prudence 10-28-2005 12:00 PM

HAHAHAHA!

" As you wander the corpse-strewn battlefield, you see a giant man in a giant breastplate painted with the Cloaca-Cola insignia. He's standing with his hands on his knees, taking a break from the battle. As you draw closer, you recognize his face from drawings in your history books.

"Wow, you're Mean José Verde!" you say. "You're the meanest, orneriest, most vicious... er... sorry to bother you, sir." You find a can of Cloaca-Cola amidst the detritus on the battlefield. "Here, Mean José!"

The man glares at you, then drains the can in one long swallow and smiles at you. "Thanks, kid." He takes off his breastplate and throws it at you.

You're crushed beneath the weight, but getting out from under it proves to be an effective workout.

You gain 27 Muscleboundness.
You gain a Muscle point!"

Morrigoon 11-02-2005 11:53 PM

Why can't I find the stinkin' hermit? I found him before, but I can't remember where!

wendybeth 11-03-2005 12:41 AM

Go to the market, buy a hermit permit, then go to the mountains.

Morrigoon 11-03-2005 08:06 AM

Mountains, got it. Thanks!

tracilicious 11-03-2005 08:21 AM

Wow! The plague numbers have gone from 30,000+ yesterday to 8,000 today. That cure must finally work!

ETA: I have seven more blowguns to immunize against the plague. I've already immunized a few of you, I'm just typing in random clan members to see if they are already immunized. If you need to get shot, let me know.

Morrigoon 11-03-2005 08:33 AM

HAHAHA!:

You sleep.
You gain 30 hit points.

You gain 30 Muscularity Points.

You dream you're running through the basement of Cobb's Knob. You enter the boiler room and get jumped by some freaky dude in a striped sweater and jaunty f3d0r4. He's wearing a glove with five razor-sharp pasta spoons strapped to it! He slashes at you and you wake up screaming... but it was only a dream. Or ... was it?

Yeah, I guess it was.

tracilicious 11-03-2005 09:09 AM

What quest is everyone doing right now? I don't get a new one until I hit level 10, so right now I'm adventuring in the Palindome to collect the stuff I need to build my Pagoda. After, I plan on filling in a bunch of sidequests to pass the time while I'm leveling up.

Ghoulish Delight 11-03-2005 09:16 AM

I'm doing the time rift plauge quest, still working on the damned bonerdagon (I think I'll have him licked today), and the Orc chasm.

Ponine 11-03-2005 09:26 AM

I'm still trying to get out of the crypt. That dragon is kicking my tushie in two turns... I must need another level yet.
Yeah.. the bonedragon, like he said....

And................. I still have the plague
(Or did last night)

wendybeth 11-03-2005 09:29 AM

I'm still working on the Crypt and the Mountain.

tracilicious 11-03-2005 09:44 AM

How I finally got out of the cyrpt was by wearing a lihc face, sending 1 meat to leethal to get an elemental saucesphere, and going to trade and asking to buy a buff to help me (which I got for free), then drinking a potion of temporary greatness. I found the quests after to be much easier. I love the 1337 quest (I forget its official name). I actually got to use a dictionary as a weapon.

I finally kicked that stupid bonery ass!!

I ate a lihc eye pie, had the lihc face, had an elemental saucesphere (send 1 meat to leethal), used steroids, used handsomness potion, had a sugar rush, and used meleegra. He barely touched me.

Ghoulish Delight 11-03-2005 10:03 AM

I'm thinkink the blow gun immunizes you against reinfection, but you still need to take the cure to get rid of it if you're already infected. I've got an extra lovecat tail if you need it.

tracilicious 11-03-2005 10:12 AM

I didn't need to take another cure. I think it's supposed to cure you and immunize you. At least I'm not gray in chat anymore...

Prudence 11-03-2005 10:47 AM

I used cola grenades against the bonerdagon. I just raised up to level 9 last night so I got my house and I'm working on the pirates/orc chasm.

And I can't get the freaking Ketchup Hound!!! I could have bought one at the mall for 5,000 meat yesterday, now they're 10k. This is maddening.

That's okay...I'm still there too. After the "outage" I kinda lost steam. Plus I started a new job. I haven't been able to play in 5 days. Not to mention major browser meltdown/bookmark loss (Netscape: die kill kill die hate evil die worse than IE, no but close). Anyway. Will try to get back into things, but I'm also writing a novel. I'm insane and should just go to bed because it feels like 3 a.m. to me and it's not even midnight...

Prudence 11-05-2005 12:57 AM

Got the ketchup hound! Of course, tonight's not a night the hermit's stocking 10-leaf clovers.

wendybeth 11-05-2005 01:12 AM

Brigitte and Lizziebith-

Just post a message if you need an item or want any hints. Be sure to check the Clan larder for items as well. I use the KOL-Wiki a lot, but it's not always up and running.

My Pastamancer (Ninjamancer) is almost at PastaMaster status- should be able to do it tomorrow. From what I understand, the Saucemaster and Pastamaster work together to make the really strong and complicated food items, and the Saucemaster can also conjure up unusual restoratives. (Need to look at recipes for those). I haven't checked the Clan stats, but if there are any Pastamancers with Pastamaster abilities, check out the Reagent I've made and deposited in the larder- mixed with noodles, etc, it's supposed to be a lot stronger than the Sausage pizza and such. I can only conjure three Reagents a day, so I 'll try and stock up daily.

I also accidently bought a Familiar-Gro, so if anyone needs one, help yourself!

Ghoulish Delight 11-05-2005 05:57 PM

Alright, I'm giving this multi-character thing a whack. I've created a Pastamancer named PastafariFSM and joined the clan. If we keep this up, we'll be swimming in edibles eventually. Hooray!

Of course, I may also tire of dealing with 2 characters. That's entirely within the realm of possiblility.

wendybeth 11-05-2005 07:51 PM

It's different enough (when your multi is another type) to keep things interesting, although I sometimes forget who has what in their inventory.

Prudence 11-05-2005 08:00 PM

My pastamancer now has pastamaster status and, if sent the ingredients, will cook any noodles you desire.

Can you go to the Clan larder and get the Reagent Sauce and some noodles? I understand that's a good one to start with- I'll check out the Wiki for more recipes.

Stir-fries and chow meins

There are two stages of stir-fries. Vegetable stir-fries are a raw vegetable cooked with the secret blend of herbs and spices. Meat stir-fries are a vegetable stir-fry with some sort of meat or meat substitute added. Stir-fries yield a variety of fullnesses and substat gains. Adding dry noodles to a meat stir-fry will result in a chow mein, which means only Pastamasters can make them. These are arguably the best non-rare foods available, although the pastas that require both Pastamastery and Advanced Saucecrafting are also very impressive. Needs total confirmation: All chow meins yield 4 or 5 fullness and impressive gains to one or more substats.

[edit]
Basic pastas

Pastamasters have a few simple dishes they can make out of dry noodles and one not-too-exotic ingredient.

[edit]
Saucecrafting pastas

Some of the items that can be cooked from scrumptious reagents by Advanced Saucecrafters can be further cooked with dry noodles by Pastamasters to make top-notch dishes. None of the sauces are themselves edible (except Hell broth, which is nasty stuff), but the pastas all yield 6 fullness and serious gains to one substat, or all three substats for the Hell ramen.

As you can see, it's a bit complicated, but given the right ingredients we can make some kick ass stuff! We need things like Goat cheese, Hellion cubes, fresh veggies fof the Chow Meins's, etc.

I no longet need Hermit permits [/brag], so I put my spare in the stash. Enjoy!

Okay, I just discovered what I believe to be a pretty obscure Disney reference (unless there's some other maining I'm unaware of), and in a pretty obscure place, too.

In the character pane (on the left, with all your stats) is the "Last Adventure" link. If you put your mouse over that link, it shows the url that it inputs to their server to bring you to the correct adventure. The last bit in that url is "adventure.php?snarfblat=31"

snarfblat, of course, being Scuttle's term for a pipe in Little Mermaid. I'm unaware of any other meaning or cultural reference of snarfblat. And, on top of that "pipe" is a common programming term that refers to passing data as input to a function, so it would make sense there.

Wow, cool find GD.

I finally got the castle to say the procrastination giant was guarding, but I didn't have the right things in my inventory to complete the map. So now I'm trying to make it appear again.

I hope to ascend sometime next week. I'm thinking of going hardcore.

Capt Jack 11-12-2005 10:48 PM

ugh. anyone else having horrendous connect problems tonite??

wendybeth 11-12-2005 11:23 PM

Not tonight, but I did last night. Horrible lag, and we have broadband. I wouldn't even try to play if we still had dial-up; my computer would be deceased.

Unless you've moved the wheel since, you shouldn't have to do anything. It stays where you left it until you rotate it again.

I wish I would have read that two days ago. I didn't read the wheel very well the second time and I turned it, so I spent many many many adventures trying to get the wheel to come up again, and then it was too far from the Procrastination Giant, so I had to turn it yet again! I finally got it though.

I sold my petrified time in trade for 800,000 meat. If anyone else is interested in doing this, I've seen it go for up to 860k in there. Between Michael and I we had three, so we both sold one and are keeping the other. If you only have one time item, I'd keep it. It will be more valuable later.

Trade is a great place to make meat. Things like dry noodles go for a lot. Ten leaf clovers are good too. Holy crap! I just checked the mall and the time has gone up by 100k over night! I'm going to hang on to my other time.

I was thinking of just buying the star suit and ascending, but I realized I need to get several familiars ready first. I did buy the buckler though to make things a bit easier.

Ghoulish Delight 11-14-2005 10:00 AM

I'm in the process of collecting enough stars for much of the star suit.

I used my time to make time pants, givin' me 3 more adventures per day. Had I thought about how valuable they'd be, I might have done otherwise. Oh well. I do have an empty blowgun, another limited commodity. I wonder if those will ever be worth anything.

Ghoulish Delight 11-14-2005 10:48 AM

I stumbled across another bit-o-brilliance from this game. Anyone who's ever beaten Super Mario Bros. on the original Nintendo (and then continued to play) will appreciate this.

I was poking around the KoL wiki, reading stuff about the 8-bit realm. Obviously all the monsters are Mario and Zelda monsters. But I noticed that it listed Buzzy Beetles as one of the monsters, but I didn't remember seeing any there. So I read the info...they only appear after you ascend and they replace the Goombas. :D

Actually, GD, the lowest price in the mall for time trousers is 970,000. So they are quite valuable. I bought a store in the mall. Right now I'm only using it for ten leaf clovers and another PT that I acquired (well, Michael and I acquired it together). If anyone wants to sell anything there, then send it to me and tell me the price you want it sold for. I'll send you the meat when it's sold. Of course, this is all trust based, but I won't charge a fee.

I got my son hooked! As soon as he levels-up he's going to apply to our clan. If you admins want to use the new whitelist feature, his ingame name is "yowza." He's my disco bandit! AWWWwwwww... :D

Done and done.

Prudence 12-19-2005 10:42 PM

Crimbo Town!

wendybeth 12-20-2005 12:03 AM

Have you had Uncle Crimbo make anything yet? I've got a bunch of stuff, but nothing that fits together, apparently...

Love the Crimbo drinks!

Prudence 12-20-2005 12:11 AM

Rag doll and top. The top (block and wheel) is a combat item and the ragdoll (googly eyes, stuffing, felt) is an offhand weapon, which is new! But I don't have enough mysticality to wield it yet with my disco bandit. :(

But I have a sugar rush for sooooo many turns!

tracilicious 12-20-2005 01:52 PM

Arrrg! I've had so little time for playing lately. What's Crimbo town?

Ghoulish Delight 12-20-2005 02:08 PM

Crimbo Town is a wonderful, magical place where little elves make toys for Uncle Crimbo to give to all the children...unfortunately, the elves are sick of the sweat shop condition and are on strike (and surprisingly angry). You get to collect toy parts by adventuring and killing the elves (wonderful Office Space references gallore), and bring them to Uncle Crimbo's motor home where he'll make toys for you (so far I have a spinning top and a rag doll. Anyone know if you can get anything else made?).

There's also The Crimbo Cafe where you can purchase (for immediate consumption, no stockpiling) a selection of food and drink. Fun to read through once, but in terms of adventure and stat gain, they're nothing to write home about.

Btw, did I mention that I have a ghost pickle on a stick?

Ponine 12-21-2005 10:47 AM

Me too!!!!

<Makes me think of a hot dog on a stick, and I dont understand how its my pet... but moving on>

wendybeth 12-21-2005 07:48 PM

I don't ! I had to rely on Albus, my trusty Saber-toothed lime during the Naughty Sorceress Quest.

You're right, GC. It is a weird game.:D

lizziebith 12-22-2005 12:05 AM

I must thank Wendybeth for helping my son Yowza on his quests...:D He was amazed that I "knew" the person who'd given him tips!

I am so far behind...the new(-ish, at this point) job left me with little spare goofing-off time! I only got about 4 of the Advent Calender items this month.

BUT: who else owns 3, count 'em THREE! (so I plan for the future, sue me) SABER-TOOTHED-LIME TEE SHIRTS!!! Boy, are THOSE conversation-starters with total strangers!!

wendybeth 12-22-2005 12:15 AM

He's your son, Lizzie? Too cool- I had no idea who Yowza was, but he was so sweet! (He sent me some items, which was very nice, but I told him I was glad to help and didn't really need them). I didn't know he was underage- I sent him some Fettucine Inconnu and Fine Wine. Good thing it's only virtual vino, right?;)

Let Yowza know I'm happy to help him with anything I can; 'Wendolyn' is in Hardcore and can't do much, but Ninjamancer is still in regular, and when I ascend that one I plan on just doing a Path of some kind, so I can give and receive items. Anyway, I have lots of duplicate items so he's welcome to them if I have it!
