White house "Wagging the Dog" in NYC???
With all the troubles the Republicans are in, and the Focus on the SCOTUS, Katrina fallout, Rove leak, Bush puls his Favorite line out of his butt....."9/11...blah blah blah blah 9/11....9/11..blah blah blah....9/11"
|
I do find the timing a bit suspect. He gives a speech yesterday morning about terrorism and today we have a terrorism alert as the top news story. What a remarkable coincidence. Buried a little lower is the rising unemplyment rate, the fact that Rove is going to have to testify again, and the bestest judge in the world, Harriet Miers.
|
Suspect timing. I can think of lots of incidences of such things.
Except that President Bush quickly came out and took no credit for it. He said that NYC dealt with it. If that was what was happening, wouldn't he be trying to grab credit? I can think of times when Presidents have done such things and have tried to grab credit for actions taken at such a time. Maybe it's a plot by the dems because of the Louis Freeh's book. Yeah, that's it. Let's make it look like the republicans are trying to distract when really it is the dems that are trying to distract from Freeh's new book. Yeah, that's it. |
Carville really did a number on you.

Where's My Gumbo?!?!?!?!

That speech was scheduled long before yesterday- which part do you claim is suspect?

Here's an oldie but a Goodie--- RUSH LIMBAUGH- FEB 1997-
(Intro Music- How Much is that doggie in the window) "What is painfully obvious here people, is this action by President Clinton is a clear case of wagging the dog. This administration has tried to play Osma Bin Laden out to be some madman. This is just not the case. He was one of out great allies in the Soviet-Afghanistan conflict." Just after Clinton Missed Osama by 45 minutes, bombing the piss out of one of his training camps in the Sudan. |

what "bad" news? The fact that not everyone bowed down and approved of Miers?

- Bill Frist under investigation - Bush's Chief Procurement officer arrested - Republican Jack Abramoff indicted - Karl Rove to testify again - Unemployment rate increase - Dismal approval ratings Those are just a few stories off the top of my head that the Bush Administration might want to draw attention away from. |
I'd be interested in where you got that quote, Pan. The part about it I doubt is where he defended Osama. At that point in time, the Kovar Towers and African embassies had been bombed, had they not? And Osama had claimed responsibility, if I recall.
Wagging the dog? Completely. He just happened to need to fire cruise missiles the day Monica went to the grand jury. OK. And just because Clinton said he missed Osama by 45 minutes does not make it so. I've read that the training camps hit long been deserted. And what he hit in the Sudan was an aspirin factory. You are trying to brag about that? Osama was an ally against the Soviets in the late 70s/early 80s. We made a huge mistake in abandoning the Afghanis after the Soviets left, and the rest is history. |

I thought the White House was trying to distance themselves from this terror threat; saying that perhaps NYC and Bloomberg(my German is rusty, does him name mean Mountain Spring?) were overreacting to the inteligence. If that's the case it would seem that maybe a certain mayor is trying to grab a little spotlight for himself as his Presidential aspirations seem to grow dimmer in the shadow of a former NYC Mayor.
..but that's just my take on it all. |

George Tenant said we Hit a Training camp and missed him by 45 minutes. Isn't that the guy Bush gave a medal to? |

I completely trust Air America. Me and their other 6 listeners.
|
It wasnt Air America reporting it, it was a replay of an actual Rush Segment. (Al Frankin commenting of course)

Ah. I see, MBC. I just thought that since they were stealing money from the Boys Club and asking for donations from listeners so that they could stay on the air it meant they were having a hard time selling ads.
|
I wonder what the cumulative numbers are for Sean, Rush, Bill, and Rush? Rush alone has more then 20 million I believe.

I tried to find an impartial cite. Unfortunately, it would seem that the only people reporting what you say all lean just a bit to the right (understatement of the year). Do you have anything that discredits Air America's statement? Something preferrably non-partisan? Or, is it their word vs. Bill O'Reilly? You will note that there have been absolutely no charges filed against Air America for this "theft". Suspicious, no? And one last thing before I must go for the evening.. At least, once a week, Air America announces one or more new affiliates that have joined them. Here in California, they started in LA, then San Diego, the Santa Barbara. That's just in So Cal. Isn't it odd that a station going down the tubes would be getting so many new affiliates? Certainly, they are not in the same league as Rush but they have been beating O'Reilly in cities that they compete. In fact, O'Reilly just got kicked off the Denver station he was on (a pretty conservative city). They are growing, as much as it obviously pains you to hear. |

O'reilly....I lost interest in him LONG ago - even before he went to the radio. And it doesn't pain me to hear that they are growing. Of course they'll grow and find a loyal following and max out at a certain. I look at them the way many look at Fox News. Fox News is the alternative to the existing leftward television media. Radio definitely leans to the right, and Air America is the alternative. Now, I don't foresee Air America making any major inroads the way Fox News has as the current leader of the cable news stations, but they'll be around. Much like a Ted Kennedy or Al Sharpton - I have no interest in what they say, as it is completely mindless drivel, but I sure am glad they are around to poke fun at. |
Shouldn't it be more like Air Socialism?
yeah....I concur with Leo as usual....and SJ.... Besides that I always like nibbling popcorn and watching liberals heads pop..... |

btw: Isn't one of the key requirements for a fascist leader charisma? Bush has none ;) |
fascism is much more then just the main leader of the country. Look further at the leadership as a whole, not just the figure head.

The Likes of "Pa Pa" & "Baby" Doc, Marcos, etc.... Charismatic??? It only takes the people letting it happen. |

Now they say it's a "Hoax"..... I guess they dont quite understand the the moral of the story of "the Boy who Cried Wolf"
