Help! Cartoon Pet
OK. So this isn't the most burning question I have but it is driving me nuts!
For the past three days I have taken care of 2 tiny tiny dogs - a Maltese and a French Poodle. The Poodle was about 3 or 4 pounds and could easily fit in a small purse or a large pocket. It got me remembering a cartoon from my childhood where one of the characters had a little white pocket dog. I thought it was Speed Racer but Chris says no. Anyone know what the heck I am talking about? As usual, I don't remember anything but the animals in any given show. |
Uhm, no.
Sorry. |

Ok, I'll admit I haven't watched it. I just made an educated guess based on other disney channel offerings. |
Speed Racer had a pet of some sort, right?

Give Kim a shot. There are many cool episodes and a lot of tongue-in-cheek cheekiness. :) ----- By the way, I still don't know which cartoon NA speaks of. Could she have hallucinated it? :D |
First of all.....Chris - it is from our CHILDHOOD. The real one, not the one we regress into now. ;)
And, secondly, I can't believe I have an actual TV question and no one can answer it.....yet. Quote:
No. Too early in life for flashbacks. ;) |

Would that I could watch cartoons alone. Alas, it's a little too action adventure-y for my two year old. Disney Channel does have an awesome new show on Playhouse Disney called Little Einsteins. Classical music, fine art, foreign languages. It really rocks. I'm so pissed that they replaced Bear in the Big Blue House with Breakfast with Bear. Yes, I'm really interested in seeing Bear pretend to eat cereal with every other kid in the country. Lame. |
OK. Steph has suggested Jonny Quest, which may be a possability......IF the dog rode around in the pocket of the guy's lab coat.
I thought the dog was smaller and fuzzier, but it was a long time ago. Anyone remember Jonny Quest specifics? ![]() |

If only you were trying to remember a book instead of a TV cartoon. Then I would suggest you were remembering "No Flying In The House" by Betty Brock. It's about a little girl who learns she is part fairy and that she can fly. Her companion is a tiny three-inch white dog named Gloria. This book (originally from 1970) is back in print, if this rings a bell.

The power of Google...

That cover illustration is new. The original book had more "Garth Williams"-y line drawings, though I have no idea who did them.
Anyway, this is probably a blind alley, but the ook looks kind of cute. I'll have to re-read it someday. |
This one perhaps?
![]() (I'm sure this isn't at all what NA is talking about...but I'll take any excuse to post more drawings of a ridiculously adorable 3-inch puppy!!!) |
How about Archie & the Riverdale Gang?
Reggie had a itty bitty white poodle that always walked, rather rolled, around on a circus ball. Veronica referred to Reggie's poodle as his "Foo Foo", as in "There goes Reggie's Foo-Foo!". Creepy much? Personally, that could be a whole other thread in itself. (I'm heading over to the c o c k thread to add "foo foo" :D ) The things we remember! Sigh..I love Betty & Veronica. They're just the coolest. :) |

Sorry, NA. I don't rememebr said cartoon at all. i'll have to ask my brother, who watched saturday mornings much more religiously than I did. (Even in my tender years, I kind of liked sleeping in.) |
Well, I went looking for Archie and could only find a larger white dog - definantely not pocket sized. For a minute, I thought it was it.

Try as I may, I cannot find any images, or any info, for that matter, on Reggie's Foo Foo. Or Fou Fou. ;) Fou Fou was a talented little teacup poodle who was as snobby as Reggie, if I remember correctly. Of course, I remember all of this, but not the things I truly need to- like deadlines. :p |
